Let's petition GOG to make the forum software less horrible. Thiev played a bit of mafia and she's a blue text now, if they just made it possible to distinguish true edits and double posts the neither of these would have happened...

We should invite T to play. When he gets modkilled because of the forum software he'll get them to fix it!

While I understand that you can't allow edit suspicions, and while I do find this devastation tragically hilarious, I'd like to point out that, in my opinion, the previous games have been saved by a slightly more lenient moderation. We've had, in all the games I've played, three or four "oops, merged", that lead to scolding, suspicious eyebrows, snarky comments, and that's all. It had much less ruined the games than this immediate modkill policy.

So, I'm not certain that this stern approach to moderation actually protects the gameplay, its fun and fairness, as much as it's supposed to. Forgiving these (quite rare) glitches had not been THAT detrimental to our former games so far. This game here, on the other hand, is a bit destroyed...

I'm inclined to agree. I understand it on a forum where it's impossible to edit by accident, but it's so easy to do it by accident here. No amount of modkill-threat is going to prevent people from occasionally making mistakes. Other than getting GOG to change the forum software, the only solution I can think of is having the actual game threads on a separate forum (a free phpBB board or something) where we have a bit more control. Still do the admin and signups here of course.

Or, crazy idea, some amount or responsability (don't cheat, guys) and confidence (hmmm okay it was probably a true mstake, then) amongst players, backed with the occasionnal attentive "yup, i saw it, the post haven't changed" by other players (or observers), which didn't have time to happen there...

At least, it's been working like that so far, and, even if not ideal, it's been working. Games have gone on, to their natural end, and have been thoroughly enjoyed.

That said, if leniency becomes "official", it may be dangerous too. But, still...

Yeah, I don't think anyone here has ever edited in the actual cheating way. In fact, I can only think of one case where it wasn't a double post.

I was quite the "bounced" baby boy. Yet I survived.



I do take full responsibility. I'm quite sure I aged just after posting. I currently (well sort of) have four games going. I will switch between them and forget this site's software is different. While it would be nice to have my error forgiven, it was all my fault and I feel foolish.

I agree with you both.
On the other hand I think I should have killed Twister in my game. There it was warranted, but I was too timid to do it.

It's difficult there yeah... he deliberately edited and there was no double post. The fact that his excuse was so scummy ('I needed to correct one typo but leave a load of others') meant we ended up lynching him, a modkill would have saved us the time (and the day depending on your modkill policy). :P
As he turned out town, I doubt he was trying to cheat but he still showed a blatant disregard for the rules. >_>
