Vitek: normal one or flavourless one.
Normal one!! You go! It shall be made official I'm sure!

Vitek: But as I said to Joe during last game, I am looking forward to some modding mostly because I am eager to modkill half of players for inactivity, so I am bit afraid some people wouldn't enjoy it much.

I don't know, a good amount of activity might make trying to pull some intrigue fun. And actually enforcing it might mean the game doesn't take 3000+ posts.

You can dodge modkills by cartwheeling? Noted.

Krypsyn: I don't know what the best time-restraint would be, but perhaps a week or less for a Day would help alleviate some of the inactivity? A week would easily give enough time for discussion, but hopefully wouldn't drag out as much.
A week? Good god, is that how long each turn is taking? Yeah, I'd get bored too. I would think maybe 48 hrs max for a day. I'd like in on the next game, but maybe the host should say how long their turns are first, as I won't want to play in a game with 47 years between each day.

48 hours is incredibly short considering some people might only have a small window of time each day that they can devote to the game...

I don't think turn is a good word. In a turn based game, yes a week per turn would be a hell of a long time, but I don't think you can really equate mafia phases (days/nights) with turns. The whole point of the day is that it ends when a majority vote has been reached, deadlines are just to make people get on with it.

Thanks for that.

BlueMooner: Thanks for that.
Apologies if I was condescending, I have no idea whether you've played before or not. But yeah, IMO 48 hours would be way too short. I think a week, while short (compared to what we're used to) could be a good length.
Not at all. I didn't think your tone condescending. I haven't ever played so I was thanking you for the info. If a week is standard, or even short (!), perhaps I'll pass on joining then.
Aww, that's a pity.

It all depends on the community, really. I have seen other forums with games that had 72 hour Days, and 24 hour Nights (or possibly less!). Those forums have folks that tend to be able to log in more often, however, and the games there have a very different ambiance (or whatever you want to call it) from what you would find here. It is sort of the difference between competition speed chess and a friendly game on a rainy day; both have their place, but neither are for everyone.

In my first game, I also imagined things to be way faster. I came off as a suspicious mad lyncher (well, as it was actually my mindset, I admitted it without making much effort to conceal it). But then, I got in the regular tempo, and it kinda makes sense. Days are long but not boring in my point of virew. They are generally quite busy.

Which is why, even with week-long "days", or more, I still can't join. Bluemooner, don't believe that long "days" make diluted gameplay. It's generally pretty intense and densely demanding. Start playing and you'll be the first one asking for delays...

I agree to a point. However, there is a point in some of the longer Days where I am asked the same questions I was asked 2 weeks prior. Or, even without provocation I find myself repeating myself over and over. Maybe it is just me, but, after a bit (around 4 to 7 days for me, generally), I find I just have nothing more of consequence to say. At that point, I start getting annoyed and start counting the days and hours to the deadline.

I read one of the threads here when I first learned of it, the one where everyone was an appliance in an house. IIRC it had a 48 hour window.

Hmm. That must have been before my time. Are you sure that wasn't just 48 hours for Night actions?

Edit:
And, dangit, you made that quote before I could correct my there-->their mistake! It was only up for a minute before I edited too! Hehe.
