Looks pretty obvious to me. I don't see a good reason why the death of a partner would allow such sort of confirmation. If they didn't manage to confirm themselves in some way while still alive - tough luck. It's up to the remaining Mason to do whatever they can to do so. Worst case they would end up being Vanilla.

ZFR: This is probably obvious but to confirm 100%. I suppose it is not allowed for a single mason, if his partner has been killed, to confirm himself by sharing the qt link to their private chat? And the no-quote-PM-just-paraphrase rule extends to mason communication too?

Yeah, QT link sharing feels equivalent to PM-quoting to me too. If one mason has been killed and someone claims to be the other mason and isn't counterclaimed then that more or less confirms them anyway. In as much as anyone can be confirmed outside of death. :P

I was going to say QT sharing is worse since PM-quoting could be relatively easily faked. But I suppose if someone were really intent you could fake a QT as well, it would just be really hard to do convincingly.

Although fake-quoting a PM isn't exactly a good strategy, Supplementscene can attest to that. :P

ZFR: With time-stamps? You'd have to do it from the start of the game.
And you'd have to know who the other mason who's going to die is.
Unless you do a qt for every player. And then just share the "correct" one.
Heh, yeah. That's why I started with it being impossible and ended on technically possible but ... ;) And you'd have to know who the other mason who's going to die is.

Anyway, yeah, QT sharing is even worse than PM quoting I think, because it offers that sort of 3rd party verification.
Obviously if I were going to fake one, I would really hope it would turn out to be someone who didn't talk a lot and would be easier to mimic. ;)

I'm just thinking back to the first mafia games on GOG, almost all of us were newbies and I don't think they had that much trouble filling the game. I do wonder if the way we all run things nowadays is a bit off putting to newbies. They see a 105 page long thread called Mafia Administration and switch off, I can't imagine the the high game numbers help either (i.e. game #59). Putting myself back in my younger self's shoes, I'm sure I wouldn't have joined so carelessly if my first game was game #59 and the admin thread had 105 pages (there was no admin thread back then obviously).
Maybe we should think about missing game numbers out of the signup threads? I know we have instructions and tutorials in the first few posts of the admin thread, but I doubt many potential newbies see that 105 page colossus and think "That looks like a fun game that'll be pretty easy to get into!".
