Don't worry, the basic game mechanics are actually very, very simple. It can reach pretty much infinite levels of complexity if the moderator decides to do that, but the core principles can be explained in like three sentences.

I'm serious about the newbie game; could be theoretically set up within days, weeks at most.

Oh great, I thought you might have lost interest when no one replied to you. Recent games have been getting fairly complex, but baz's one seems like it'll be simpler.

bazilisek: No, I've been thinking about it for some time now and I'm willing to run one. Along the lines of M1 and M2, a full game with flavour and all, just not with any extravagant roles. And #12 has to be put on hold, I think (I'm guessing Joe's game won't be exactly newbie material).

This forum has a pretty big userbase these days, there has to be plenty of people who'd enjoy the game. We just have to market ourselves properly.
I think a full game but with nothing freaky is probably the best way to go.
How do other people feel about using Mafia Scum's definitions of normal/not-normal or coming up with our own?

I'd like to play if you'll let me (and depending on what's happening with #11). I think I'll probably be less passive in a game more like #1.

gameon: As for the forum game, i dont mind if it gets more complex. But take driving for instance. At first it can be daunting and make no sense. You are guided along, and eased into it. Then you have guys who can become race drivers or stuntmen. Its the learning curve thats needed to get into these games. As i'm late to it all, it makes no sense currently.
Don't worry, it sounds like what baz is planning is something along the lines of game #1 (I started that game knowing nothing other than the flash tutorial and my team ended up winning). The basic mechanics are really simple and I mostly learned by playing.

Okay, I think I have a good release candidate for the setup. Which means that I need a reviewer, with the usual caveat that whoever reviews it may not play in the game, but on the other hand, it's a game I'd like to see primarily (ideally entirely) populated by new players, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Any volunteers?

Urk, that's not promising when he's the mod of a currently running game... It's game 6 all over again! Hope ghostqlyph is ok...

I suppose I could have a look... I was originally hoping to fill a spot in the game in the case we couldn't gather enough newbies or be on the replacement list. If no one else will review it I'll have a look though.

Did you actually get as far as sending him the setup? If you did, then he's already excluded from the game... so yeah, trying to hear back from him would certainly be preferable to having two people excluded.

For the record, to answer Rodzaju, I don't know about nmillar but I can't rejoin as I already know most parts of the setup.
