My cousin gave me this as a stocking stuffer for Christmas a few years back. It is an amusing conversation starter that I keep on my desk. ;)

I also have this on my desk. It is vaguely related... :P

Lifthrasil, wherever you are, we need to start. Before something terrible happens. Or at least before more terrible things happen...

Noted. The Hosting List has been adjusted.
Uhhh, I can only guess that I'm glad I have the policy to not click on random links without descriptions. I definitely look forward to the next setup and game. Is it scummy to hope I'm scum? It's just so much more interesting!

Oh, which, btw, add me to the notification list, please!

TheGOGfather: Which list? Did you want to be added to the Hosting List or the Notification List? I am assuming the former, and I'll put you on the Hosting List, but let me know if that isn't what you meant.

Given that you are already on the Notification List, this seems like a good assumption. I missed it the first time. *sigh*
Yes the hosting list. Thanks.

Also, trying not to click on any links...

adaliabooks: I prefer this one.
I like that one, though I don't think it's in my top 10 of his.
I still have tons of notes to type, but, I have tons of notes on a Werewolf variant setup (just that the werewolves are the mafia is the only similarities it holds to the previous setups of it, well, that and flavor deaths) and need an experienced moderator to share the setup with and get feedback from (:. This would either be the person who assist-moderates the game with me when I first run it or someone who would only be in the observer thread.

I'd really like someone who has lots of games under their belt and has moderated quite a few times as well, as, I think I have 1 or 2 unusual mechanics that, while I think work quite well, aren't necessarily standard for online mafia games.

With that, I want someone who is open to my creative ideas and isn't just going to tell me how things "normally" work in games and that I'm doing something screwy that "just isn't done" or something like that. Although if it is too screwy that it won't work, I want told why, of course.

I did read a lot of stuff about mafia during the Space Station Epsilon game and just working on this werewolf one has taught me a lot so, I do pretty much understand the game at this point and think I know what I'm doing with my version. Once you read it all you might be wishing to participate in the game! That's okay, I will want to run it multiple times, I think!

I still will take several days to get everything typed up and formatted in an easy-to-follow way.

Also, I will tell something about the mechanics to try and lure some interest (and give time for interest to gain) perhaps, because:

The game will run best+most interesting/perfectly with either 18 or 19 players (well, 22 or 23 would also work, but that would be a big bunch, although, forum mafia could grow that much between now and when I actually host, so, I am preparing for it with the mechanics/numbers being worked out.)

1 mechanic only exists if 16 or more players are in the game (any number above 16 it will be in.)

another mechanic only functions with 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19, 22, or 23 players. (reversely meaning that with 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 20, or 21 players, the mechanic isn't part of the game.)

So, again, both mechanics exist in a game of 18, 19, 22, or 23 players, though they don't necessarily directly interact, it's just that having both in the game at certain numbers makes the 1 a little overkill, so to speak.

I also intend to have NO FORMAT AT ALL to my mod PMs, but, they will still be entirely understandable and clearly explain what can be shared and what can't be shared by each individual player, role, etc.

Your PM from me at the start of the game could be as simple as: "your name is bob" or "you like fishing" or "your name is bob and you like fishing" and bob is just a flavor name and fishing may or may not have any inherent meaning of which you are not aware or could just be flavor I am providing for you to "play" with, give it or take it+/the name if you like, I probably won't care.

How will you tell whether they are just too rigid to accept new ideas or they game is really imba and they are right by telling you so? :-)

I think even 18/19 players is too much. Even games with 16 players usually tend to have troubles. It already stretches player-base quite a bit. Each added player makes it harder for players to not be lost in sheer amount of people, posts and data and to achieve consensus on lynches.
It is also harder for mod as biger game is 1. harder to balance and 2. much harder to run. There is much more players you have to keep eye on and much more interwinded night actions to manage.
All of this increases with every added player.

I wouldn't recommend to run 18/19 players game overall here and I certainly would advise against running it as your first game.
Better start with smaller (12 players is ideal) game.

I personally started with 9-players one and it was har enough for myself. :-)

But then I am one of those mafia traditionalists and nobody listens to me anyway. :-)
