ZFR: Or... and here is a crazy idea, Pooka is NOT outing himself to save his partner, seasoned or otherwise.
That is also a possibility.
avatar
PookaMustard: You know what I'm worrying about now? dedoporno and JoeSapphire. I know dedo is busy with work, but he seems awfully quiet even by his standards this game. And I haven't seen a post from Joe at all.

Good, you appeared! Do you have something to say about this Day 1 so far?
It appears that things have kicked off faster than usual. I'll near EOD and will catch up once I get home from work.

PookaMustard: Good, you appeared! Do you have something to say about this Day 1 so far?
I do -

Hello everybody! Hope this will be a fun game :-)
Some early musings:

1. Redfiregaming sucks... Oh My BOD How U Suk!

2. I may have residual aggression at Pooka leftover from an unrelated Secret Hitler game which I took too seriously so I must remember to keep that in check.

3. The mafias are ZFR and Agent

JoeSapphire: Hello everybody! Hope this will be a fun game :-)
Bah, that's not how you play...you're supposed to talk silly the first day then everyone starts pointing fingers and acting all serious every day after that.

Since you don't seem to know how to play despite you being knowledgeable about the game:

FOS JoeSapphire

Lifthrasil: So you think that anyone in this game is actually going to believe that someone is scum because he has been scum often? That's not how statistics work, you know? Whom do you suspect of being so uninformed about statistics as to fall for that?
avatar
PookaMustard: Weird, since you also told him that....statistics don't work this way, too. Literally the same thing.
Not quite. Banter and trying to (ab)use that banter to concoct an actual accusation are two different things.

avatar
Lifthrasil: Actually your vote was the first one that didn't feel like RVS.
avatar
PookaMustard: What. I used random.org for the vote, and it explicitly read like a joke. It literally couldn't get any more RVS than that. The fact it isn't in the last vote count is just the topping. I have done no other votes, not even on RW.
But here I have to say: my bad. Sorry. It wasn't your vote that didn't feel like RVS. It was your statement about RW 'feeling off' that felt like you wanted to leave RVS on a flimsy reason.

But one way or the other we are out of RVS. So you seem to have achieved your goal.

Although I am sad that ZFR didn't answer to my RVS question about his RVS vote. I'm afraid ZFR doesn't like me anymore and ignores me! :-(

avatar
GameRager: FOS JoeSapphire
Using FOS always feels quite scummy to me. It's a sign someone wants to appear scum-hunty without actually commiting himself with a vote. I think I'll leave my RVS vote where it is.
avatar
PookaMustard: After the last game, no self-respecting scum would allow their partner to act as a distraction or get lynched early.
What if that's what they want us to think? o.0

avatar
PookaMustard: nmillar too was a seasoned player, and he was impressive in standing the whole game as a lone mafioso, but guess what? He still lost, he got put into a situation where everyone agreed that it's either him or SPF, and with two days left to boot, he was doomed to fall. All he could do was hope the waters were muddy enough and that he delayed the inevitable. So if I was acting as a distraction to my stronger scumbuddy on Day 1, then we've got to be insane. The risk versus benefit of this move is not worth it, and the timing is ill-suited.
I was merely gloating an idea that was half silly half serious before, just fyi.

PookaMustard: You know what I'm worrying about now? dedoporno and JoeSapphire. I know dedo is busy with work, but he seems awfully quiet even by his standards this game. And I haven't seen a post from Joe at all.
Good points...so far Joe has made some silly posts without much substance and not much else.

I want to hunt the kitsunes. Not get them excited.

JoeSapphire: 3. The mafias are ZFR and Agent
Nice. Game solved. Well done. ... But how did you come to that conclusion? Any chance you might be wrong?

Lifthrasil: Using FOS always feels quite scummy to me. It's a sign someone wants to appear scum-hunty without actually commiting himself with a vote. I think I'll leave my RVS vote where it is.
It's day one, and that FOS is meant to be more silly than serious. And I always play this way ever since I kept guessing wrong when voting so much in the past....I don't vote much the first day or so and am careful about voting so as not to hit fellow town by accident.

Furry: Why not both? o.0

Also one needs to get them excited to find them, as the wiki says/others brought up. :)

1. He so does not suck. :p

3. How do you know that...o.0
avatar
GameRager: Maybe it's a seasoned player as scum with Pooka and they are using Pooka as a distraction? Hmm....
Agreeing with Pooka here, tying oneself to another player as scum is bad, and getting tied to one's scumbuddy is even worse.

avatar
PookaMustard: Precisely what you said and my main worry. He started off his vote not by the typical RVS shenanigans, but by saying that dedo rolls scum often. It feels like he chose dedo because he knows how to weaken his position and can confidently pull it off as early as the first few hours of Day 1.
Similar to the above, by going after Dedo RWarehall would be making himself too much of a target too early. At D1, the odds are in scum's favor, so why do anything risky?

avatar
JoeSapphire: 1. Redfiregaming sucks... Oh My BOD How U Suk!
OMBHUS? That's an intresting one. Petition to add that to the Mafiascum Wiki Glossary, anyone?
avatar
Lifthrasil: Not quite. Banter and trying to (ab)use that banter to concoct an actual accusation are two different things.
But again, it's hard to read sarcasm or what is banter on the internet. Personally...

avatar
Lifthrasil: But here I have to say: my bad. Sorry. It wasn't your vote that didn't feel like RVS. It was your statement about RW 'feeling off' that felt like you wanted to leave RVS on a flimsy reason.

But one way or the other we are out of RVS. So you seem to have achieved your goal.
...I hate RVS. It's fucking random and the longer it drags on, the more potential for a mislynch, and not even a least damaging one at that. My previous strategy of starting it by talking mechanics has made players on another forum be like "THAT'S USELESS!" and suspect me for it, even though that's literally what I do every single time. So rather than keeping in line with this strategy, I found it much better to read along the lines now.

If what I'm saying about RWarehall implying he can easily take down dedo is true, we got scum. If what I'm saying is wrong and he's Town, then I gave everyone a talking point, scum included. Much better than if RVS had coasted to the day's end.

Lifthrasil: Using FOS always feels quite scummy to me. It's a sign someone wants to appear scum-hunty without actually commiting himself with a vote. I think I'll leave my RVS vote where it is.
I don't feel that way regarding FoS. It's a good way of being serious with your suspicion without giving scum an opportunity to abuse your vote. I do agree that it's too early to FoS when the scumteam is more than outnumbered right now.

Yes but the silly posts and lax nature sometimes lets scum slip up and say something we can use later on to pin them down, so RVS has it's uses. It also helps people ease into the game a bit.
