cristigale: If trent is telling the truth we have:
town: trent
neutral: Lift, drealmer, doc
anti-town neutral: Sage, bookwyrm, bler, HijacK
mafia: yogs
It sounds like there's a distinction between neutrals - those who pose a threat to town and those who don't. Regardless, it’s a whole lot of neutrals. [...]
Except that drealmer7 is a mod-confirmed third-party killer, who, logically, couldn't, or at least shouldn't, have knowledge of who's town and who's not when he picked Bookwyrm627 as this target on N1.
cristigale: If trent is lynched and flips town, you may not like that town part so well. :-)
If trentonlf flips Town, no quotation marks, then he must be telling the truth, right? Do you think it likely that he'd lie about anything, and if so what reason for, if he's town?
So, if he's telling the truth, looking at the dead we have:
(1) 0 clearly identified as Town.
(2) 7 Neutrals, with 3 of them clearly identified as Neutrals, 1 of them confirmed as a killing one, and, based on his claim (anti-town = bad guys/gals), another 4 also having killing powers.
(3) 1 single lonesome clearly identified as Mafia.
So, with 6 killing powers among the dead, of which 1 is scum and at least 4 are anti-town, and probably one or more scum still alive, and looking at the 6 bodies from NKs, don't you find it odd that exactly zero actual townies lie on the floor in some room? This must be the luckiest town in history of forum mafia. How likely is that? And is it more likely than the simpler explanation that the quotation marks don't mean what trentonlf claims that they do? And if it doesn't, why did he say it does, and insists it's true?
dedoporno: Also, am I the only one who is a bit alarmed by the fact that ~57% of the original player base (excluding the plot devices) are dead and not a single one flipped as Town without quotation marks?
No, and that's another reason I find it hard to believe what trentonlf claims regarding the meaning of the quoted flips. I'm starting to wonder if the quotation marks don't necessarily always mean that the alignment presented in them is a misleading/false one. Anything pointing against one or more of the alignments within quotation marks being actually true ones? I mean, we have alignments without them, but does that mean that the ones with them are necessarily all false? If so, why?
And speaking of alignments, what do people think about yogsloth's name being Arthur Bishop? I assume it's taken from the film
The Mechanic (1972) or
The Mechanic (2011). In both films, the protagonist is a Hitman who works for some criminal organisation. Do (general) you think this has any bearing on our setup?
dedoporno: My boy had a birthday yesterday so I didn't have too much time after work and today is turning out to be very busy. I'll be online in a few hours most likely.
A belated very happy birthday, dad! I bet it was a lively celebration and that he had lots of fun. How old is he now?
trentonlf: [...] I am assuming I still had the vest last night because after I made my announcement on Day 2 I fully expected an attempt on me and if my vest had already been used I would be dead now. [...]
Does this mean that you were confident enough that your claim would be believed and trusted come D3? If yes, why?
trentonlf: [...] I do find it interesting how many people seem to be so disbelieving of a Town investigative role [...]
What makes your claim believable and trustworthy?
Put yourself in our shoes. If someone came out, the way you're going about it since Yesterday, and said they were a Town investigative role that the mod had told what the quotation marks on alignments mean in their role PM, and that they had investigated two of the now dead players with results that don't quite match their flips, and one still alive that may or may not flip with quotation marks, would you be eager to take their claim at face value? If yes, why?
Also, how does drealmer7 fit in with what you claim (see my first point in this post)?
trentonlf: [...] If I was to guess right now I think JMich is either scum or an anti-town neutral. I went back and looked at his posts from yesterday and this
post here is anything but a typical JMich post. Pretty sure a town JMich is not going to go "Fuck it I'll believe you for now" [...]
And yet it didn't strike you Yesterday as inconsistent for town-JMich? Only now you thought of looking at his posts?
trentonlf: [...] By the time Day 1 ended I found more people to be higher on my radar from how they were behaving or things they had said, and I was not going to shout it out to them as I find that makes people change what they are doing. So I chose to investigate Sage instead. [...]
So, people had climbed up your suspects list due to how they were behaving or things they had said, apparently Sage103082 too. I assume that said behaviour and statements looked worse than scum-drealmer7 having slipped, otherwise they wouldn't overshadowed your suspicion of scum-drealmer7 having slipped, yes?
And out of whatever number of players fit in here, you picked Sage103082 for the reason you state in your post #128?
If that was the most eyebrow-raising thing she did all of D1, why was she a priority over those others that were higher than drealmer7 on your radar because of things hey had said or done?
I mean, I don't quite see how that what you say in your post #128 was worse enough to pick her from among your other suspects, let alone bad enough for her to climb higher than drealmer7, so could you explain it to me?
