eesh!!! I've been a lot busier for the past few days than I expected - I'm catching up now but since I'm quite a bit behind I'm not going to make a ginormous series of wall replies to every little thing and try and keep it more simple and after I'm caught up if there are things I haven't addressed that ppl still want addressed I will do that.

I'm partway through page 4 of 8 - I really hope to be able to get it all read in the next couple hours but don't hold me to it

flubbucket: Baiting won't garner you any town cred.
But I like baiting. I do it all the time. It's how I win my lane.

Trent, please. This is an exaggeration and definitely not needed. I am unsure whether you're genuinely concerned about the way the game is going due to morals, or trying to appeal to some sentimental value due to no solid ground on which one should lynch me besides a loose argument for a policy lynch, whereas this seems less likely due to the circumstance of two millers as opposed to just one.

As I said. Your cooperation is always welcome.

Should I spoil the surprise for you?

Bookwyrm627: Random.org indicates that between the two, I should
Vote Gamma
So the dice have spoken?

Wasn't here - was your post taking into account RW's note preceding yours (yes, I read that post, tyvm) that Gamma would be replaced if he does not appear by D2? Does that change your view on voting an absent player? Why or why not?

avatar
docbear1975: @Bler, yes, I’ve resigned myself to my fate as a D1 lynch. Someone has to be lynched D1, so it might as well be me. I do find your theory that Lift and I are scumbuddies rather interesting
If you're town, there's like, 4...5...well, some number anyway of reasons you should either be trying to stay alive or at least make your own wagon productive so town might learn something from it. Laying down to die doesn't help town at all.

Unless you aren't town, in which case, hey - pretty helpful!

To the extent I was involved wasn't I throwing cold water on the Lift/doc theory? But that aside, why do you find that theory (whoever postulated it) so interesting? What makes it interesting? Go with that!

avatar
dedoporno: [@Hijack] I'm curious, how were you planning to play this out?
Oddly I kinda believe him (though I also believed BB, so perhaps am not to be trusted on such matters), but this is a very good question.

avatar
trentonlf: I am happy where my vote is for now on drealmer, but I also have no issue moving it to Gamma or Lift because as of right now they are my 3 main suspects.
Why is gamma a "main suspect" again, iyo?

avatar
HijacK: I was planning on claiming first thing on Day 2 and after a bit more information came out. I didn't want to claim on Day 1 because with no leads and with certain figures that just look for anything that sticks (Lift *hint* *hint*) I thought scum will just try to ride a wagon for something that will regardless flip as Mafia. So they would be getting easy points and everybody would fall for it. I didn't think Yog's claim would work. I actually decided to claim as well because it is too much of a coincidence to be a fake claim. I believe what he's saying. The similarities are there.
Well, it's AN answer.

HijacK: Greetings, bler! I do not mean to be rude, but can we get some participation from you that is relevant to the subject matter discussed in this moment? I would like to hear your thoughts on it. :)
Well, then you could've given me a bump instead of waiting for the dang timer. ;)

6pm is family skype time, and for whatever reason I didn't have a flag that you had responded when I came back.

Not entirely sure what you want me to comment on since I'm not caught up on how we got here (to the last hour or so of posts), but TLDR version:
1) i'm inclined to buy what you're selling, maybe not full stop, but so far, I'm still on board.
2) I get what you're saying about Trent, but all of his posts seem pretty null to me since you're trying to pull him into a hypothetical over something he just tends to think is out of bounds regardless of strategy value. Seems like two people talking past each other. V/V or W/V IDK but it seems unproductive.
3) not sure what flub is doing.

Did I miss anything?

I could make a comment about my PM, but have held off primarily b/c I see Trent's point here more than usual that whatever RW has in mind for us, blowing the game up D1 with a full claim might be strategically advantageous, but kinda defeats the point.

Trying to remember what RW has said in the past as mod about such things - pretty sure as a player in the dungeon game he was very anti-D1 full claim? feel free to fact-check me on that.

and feel like at some point in the dead thread he's made some comment about booby-trapping such a strat as mod? Wyrm or anyone else have memory of that?
Okay, so I probably missed some stuff . Am on board for voting doc, Wyrm, Lift in some order. Probably that one.

Trying to get out of the weeds of specific posts:

1) In the context of this specific day, I have a very hard time seeing a gamma vote as pro-town. Whatever yogs is, he's stated his intent to vig and or SK and or murderize gamma N1. His alignment can't be checked, but in a role madness game, he has to be aware it can be tracked/watched/whatever. It can presumably also be blocked, of course (WIFOM included), so isn't a gimme.

But of all possible wagons, gamma's has the least practical value at this point - we probably don't even get a claim out of it, and risk killing a role that (apparently) we won't even see through flip. That's just a bad idea all around. I just can't take wyrm's vote seriously, aside from the random.org bit.

Besides, play through the hypothetical of what yogs does next in that world. At least let her claim first and let him nuke the guy who's not claiming either way.

2) We're what, 60 hours from deadline, and have yet to have even a single substantive wagon. The main reason I voted doc is it seemed unlikely we'd get anything out of her from pressure or questioning, so in part it was waiting to see what would happen if a wagon started rolling. If !scum-doc, what do teammates do? If no counter-wagon, what does that mean?

Plus, hey, I think if she did go to claim it might have been telling - both the claim itself, and what happened afterward.

The longer we wait to do anything and just tinker around with these not-wagons, the more reliant we become on "lynching right" at deadline to get anything at all, because there are no other wagons to analyze (most of the votes cast are pretty useless for analysis when maj=8), and even if town gets lynched everyone has the "well, it was either townieA or no lynch, and we sure couldn't have that!!!two!" excuse built in.

And wyrm and lift both start brand new wagons (plus, i guess technically trent's self-vote)? Though of the two, at least Lift's had a point, i guess. And ok, I'm being a bit of a dick to wyrm here, but unless he has some magic explanation, I just don't get that vote.
Just got back from dinner with my friend who works for Monolith Games... Which it turns out shares a parking lot with my hotel. Amazing.

@trent - dude, stop, take a walk, come back.

@Hijack - I honestly would not have made that claim if Town. Because it's just too hard to believe and by being the second one in the pool it's too easy to fake as scum. So strange. Wifom I guess because it's suicide as either alignment.

I still think docbear is the choice today, but yeah, this is going to be a mess to resolve
I have officially researched something!!!! Wooo!

https://quicktopic.com/51/H/HZUqG38REcyR

Post 110, RW talks about his design being town-proofed.

It was, alas for him, still not yog-proof, aided by mafia missing key info they should have had.
Diid I say bler was 99% town here? Nah, he's 99.9% chance town. Will never vote ever.

Flub is being reasonable, and it makes me nervous and itchy like I have pepper in my socks. He should be screaming for my blood.
I'm just glad someone caught my BB joke.

I thought it was like the funniest thing I'd ever posted.
BB joke?

Sorry

to ruin it

Lol, thank you bler
no, you caught it.
Ah NBB joke lol

I'm bored bler

Help me

I'm so bored I'm watching baseball on hotel tv

Do you have a read on docbear? Am I screwing myself on this? She's just plain maf, right?
Toss-up, in part b/c my early setup guesses don't seem to make sense with how people are behaving. So I'm staying on her at least in part b/c the field doesn't make sense.

She's had 3 votes for at least 24 hours, is simultaneously lynch-baity and yet sound strategically for town at least to run up the flag pole... and everyone is staying away? Not to keep picking on wyrm, but he votes the complete absentee with no votes over the only thing that looks like a wagon?

The more shit like that keeps going, at least the more value a flip might have.

Now, specific to her - of all her posts, the mention of factions (in response to lift/wyrm discussion of "factions and/or other") still jumps out the most, maybe esp. because none of the voting this game has made any sense whatsoever.

A number of people seem like their goal is to avoid attention at all costs, and possible the two claims and the lack of role flips miiiight have some suggestion as to why that might be, but still pretty premature.

All of her other posts have been pretty cautiously neutral.
Current votes:
drealmer7 - flubbucket
Lifthrasil - drealmer7
docbear1975 - yogsloth; dedoporno; bler144
GammaEmerald - Bookwyrm627
HijacK - Lifthrasil
trentonlf - trentonlf

Not voting: GammaEmerald; HypersomniacLive; HijacK; docbear1975; Sage103082; cristigale

Majority has not been reached.

Deadline is still scheduled for late Thursday night Eastern Daylight Time...

Note: Someone had suggested that flavor may have been created specifically for particular players. That is not true. All flavor was designed for each "slot" which was rolled for separately. The only slight changes were gender based with a minimal name alteration.
flub's vote on me stinks but I'll refrain off insta-scumreading him hard for it, let him post a few more times first AT LEAST...

dedoporno: You are getting awfully defensive over not much, though. I'm interested in what you think about the others who also find you voteworthy at this point (Trent, flub and maybe Sage).
really? I was just explaining myself and sharing my PoV on what he was doing. Just because someone does that doesn't make them defensive. It's not like I was screaming and swearing at him "OMG HOW THE FFFFF DO YOU THINK WHAT I'M DOING IS SCUMMY?!?!"

lift says I exploded ??? now I'm just confused. Where did I explode? I dunno maybe I did and I repressed it? - uhoh I might have to get that looked at. Anyway, it seems dedo is seeing some of the same things I'm seeing in lift and I agree (HSL explicitly says it) that this feels very much similar to how it went in the previous game with me and lift and that is pretty much why I voted him like I did. It feels pretty secure (hence you can take it to the bank!)

and now I see lift unvoted me, that is interesting of course, but, yes, scumlift knows when to back off - I look forward to reading how things progress now that I've been absent actually and see how my reads form with everyone after this point. I've discovered through my playings that I really am better off on D1 when I am able to take a step back and observe things for a while after engaging a bit, but I love to engage as well and do often find it serves the game (regardless of the seeming contentions that arrive, I think I, like some others at times, "get things going" and DO stuff because it helps to start the sorting and whatever.

anyway, yep, more catchings up *reads*...

Ohyes, btw, I know I have said before but to reiterate, I think it is bad townplay to share who you TR on D1. I think it helps scum strategize and divide and conquer and gives them more options and see easier paths to victory.

Also, I will try to do better at differentiating when I'm posing something that I think is a POSSIBILITY and want to bring it to the table for others to consider / talk about (not that I think it is or am arguing for it to be the most likely possibility, just A possibility) - posing a theory is not making an argument or even pushing a theory, it's simply trying to suss out the likelihoods of varying possibilities.

back to the game -

Sage103082: ... bring up the sub because it is an option and I would rather is someone else in the game that can contributed as compared to losing a player that had not posted at all in the game.
I cracked the fuck up because JMich is the sub - wait I just laughed some more to, this is priceless line and needs to be saved with the context of JMich being the sub

oh which brings me to the point of meta that was discussed - habits and tendancies from game to game in individual players should be KEPT IN MIND when evaluating a player, but it should not supercede just reading the player IN EACH SPECIFIC GAME. I like to play in different styles in different games. After something like 30 games on MS I am STILL have trouble getting people to understand that they can't just rely on how I was in whatever previous game. It drives me nuts. Even just on the simplest level it makes sense for different roles to play in different ways. For example, most of the time I play VT in a certain way (out there making pushes starting a riot whatever), BUT, sometimes I am a different role and just want to play like I GENERALLY play VT, or I'm VT but decide to play it different for whatever reason that I think will serve the game. I think a lot of players need to open up to realizing a player might be playing a certain way for certain reasons and not jump to conclusions so fast.

HypersomniacLive: Why? You yourself said that drealmer7 is "sorta Day 1 lunch menu at all times".
avatar
yogsloth: Yeah, but I specifically am flub’s Day 1 lunch menu item.
oh, flub loves to vote me, any Day all Day, really - I am not really aware of your history with him so can not judge who I think he'd love to vote more - we could ask him!

wow, HSL is understanding me a bit, cool!

wtf, sage is again hounding about my line about gamma, I thought I clarified it, I don't get what there is to go on about, you either think I made a slip or understand that you misunderstood it initially - Sage, it was trent's remarks that made me see where I might need to explain better, he still gets scumpings for it just as you do. That sage goes on about it and seems to be reiterating the same points over that have been made, and calling me defensive (when all I was doing was explaining it), seems like some reaching being done, really feels like she's trying hard to make me seem scummy. hard pings for post 182

drealmer7: [...] we wouldn't want someone to claim 30 minutes before deadline, have everyone hop off because of the claim, giving no time for the true CC to be heard, and it to go to no-lynch... [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: [emphasis added]

And how would/do you know that any counter-claim is the true one? More so on D1?
I was making a joking reference to bler's smurfia game where that is what I did as scum on D1 (claimed jailkeeper when brasas was actual JK)

ohhoh, I absolutely don't know how many games gamma and I have been in together, it's likely more than 10, actually. He might have been scum in 2 of them actually? (not counting the super bastard game where he didn't know he was scum but was) and, no, we've not been scum together - you can get quick access to all my games (err, per last update, which I guess it's not ALL games, but almost all) here

Lifthrasil: [...] But a cover for what? What evil goal could anyone pursue with asking people to participate more than in the last game? [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: A cover for subtly testing the waters if you could get a wagon rolling on GammaEmerald? I don't know if there are any other ways left to say that it could make sense in context with your GammaEmerald comment.

On a side note, we're taking about you, not just "anyone". Taking things out of context, and generalising them, to make a counter-argument doesn't really do you any favours.
