How someone earned a scum read does not matter if you're making a list, what matters is if scum sees that someone believes they are leaning scum they will modify what they are doing. You state you wanted to keep them in the dark, but making the list does anything but keep them in the dark if you are saying they are leaning scum.

My last question was a simple question, are you feeling antsy because I'm starting to get the feeling you might be.

Why the pairings? I thought Lift + Hunter would be unique. It left you and Trent. Thought someone else would pick that pairing. Trent was my #4 seed so to speak, so I dropped him. Besides, I think I can get a good enough read of him if given enough time. You and Lift, I don't really recall properly reading either of you as scum. As to Gogtrial, he's more unknown but seems capable, so might pose a problem.

I didn't spend all that much time agonizing over it though. Too much WIFOM trying to avoid 16 other picks.

You might have a point there. Which is why I unvoted although I still see what little there was from him as more scummy than towny. ... But then he always appears scummy.

So, drealmer, time to speak to you directly: I said it before and please don't interpret this as me trying to push you out of the game: if RL really interferes that much, please ask for replacement. At least IF you really are town. Absence makes the game much harder for all others and makes you look bad. That's not fair on either of us. So, if you are town, please return to the game or ask for replacement.
If you are, however, scum, by all means, continue to lurk. It will get you lynched sooner or later and we'll be one step closer to winning ;-) (OK, that last sentence was jokey ... scum should also participate. Otherwise the game gets boring)

That sounds evasive again and misses the point: you made a false statement. Can happen, sure. But could also be a scum-tell.
Also your 'not sharing reasons for reads' philosophy has drawbacks. Sure, in some cases it's better to hold back the reason for a read. Especially if it's a meta from other games (like my observation that drealmer, after all, plays a bit different when he's scum than when he's town. Perhaps I should have kept that to myself). But you're new. You don't have any meta on most of us. And if you share observations about players, they can be discussed - if then suddenly someone changes his way of playing drastically, to fit your 'how to be town' reads - well, that in itself would be revealing. So I don't buy your reason for holding back thoughts. I rather have the impression that you are playing close to the chest because you are cautious scum, rather than 'lone wolf' town.

This means: update. Should drealmer really sub out or be replaced, Gamma takes the honorable top spot in my scum list!


To be honest, I didn't think much about whom others would be picking either. I just selected player combinations that seemed too dangerous or too hard to read to me.

You read my question correctly. I realize there could be several people that someone finds to be scummy, but I don't want a list. I am trying to stimulate conversation to help keep the game moving, and scum tend to slip the more they have to talk. That's why I suggested everyone come up with a question to ask of everyone else.

DAY 1 deadline is one week from today (approx 7 days and 7 hours from now).

From my rather limited experience, wording often is pretty telling, has helped me catch scum a few times.

It doesn't even have to be a drastic change; a number of things factor in when evaluating a change; same goes for the one doing the reads.


What's the difference between him subbing out and being replaced?

As for his replacement being dethroned by GammaEmerald, may I remind you all what happened when HijacK subbed out, and you didn't push his replacement (RWarehall) enough?


Must say I'm a bit surprised that no-one else thought that trying to impair the scum team's ability to make use of day chat to the fullest was a strategic for town aspect worth factoring in.

Alright. Nice to know that's how you'll be playing. As for my frustration, I felt a large portion of the questions overall this game had been directed at me, so I got a little flippant. That also explains why I'm feeling pressured.

I do like how you rebutted Lifthrasil on letting replaced slots slide. One time when I was scum I pushed a scumbuddy then used a replacement of that player as a reason to drop the matter.

Could you give us a couple of those "something" ?

Is it really that surprising that in a game where, with the exception of one player, nobody knows you and vice versa, you are the recipient of a lot of questions? Especially when you tend to say things without offering any reasoning, then dance around the questions you are being asked? I'm not sure what I find more surprising, to put it mildly - that it got you frustrated, and the reaction to that is to act a little... flippant, or that this is the explanation you offer for your play so far.

Let's assume you are town - do you think that being evasive and flippant is in town's best interest and helps build trust? Do you think that scum are "oh shit, we absolutely must NK this guy because he's so not a delicious distraction, nor could we ever get him mislynched"?

Let me ask you something else. If you get to L-1, what do you think could save you from being lynched?

To me, or at least as I meant it, subbing out is an active decision by him. Being replaced is forced on him by the mod. Sorry for being unclear.


No need to, but thanks for rubbing it in again. ;-) Of course you are right. Any replacement has to be under serious scrutiny. But it wouldn't feel fair either to lynch the replacement based just on drealmer's inactivity / RL-problems. Difficult situation.Let's just say: drealmer's replacement will definitely stay in the suspect pool, but will have to be re-evaluated if he really deserves the top spot.

Actually I just thought: that would be a very evil modus operandi for scum to win more games. As soon as one of their number comes under pressure, sub out and make use of the 'replacement leniency'. But I don't think any of the players here would be so mean to do that intentionally.

I wouldn't expect any of the regulars to act in this manner, but it has been done once already by a newbie that never returned to play another game. Guess who was their replacement back in that game...
