HEY!!!
I'm the only one who MS Paints my avatar into states of ridicule around here, pal!
Your capacity for Mafia recall is incredible. You and HSL should have a trivia contest to see who can dig up the most obscure individual Mafia posts the quickest.
First challenge: Find the very first post trentonlf voted for me!!!

PMs will likely trickle out to players tonight, but I have one more thing I want adalia to check before we go live. Please do not discuss your PMs with any other player unless specifically authorized in your PM, and game thread will remain closed until we post.
Everything is there already <except> the actual opening post (rules and player list are up - very exciting, I know).
I believe the PMs are final as is, but I do reserve the right to send you an updated one with minor corrections/fixes before game start. ;) Likely a busy morning at work, but goal is to be live by 10 am PST if I can get everything with the final adalia stamp of amusement.

cristigale: The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas) and Les Miserables (Hugo) are two of my favorite classics
Big fan of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis
Phantom (Susan Kay) and Christy (Catherine Marshall) are two of my favorites (probably a female thing)
I REALLY like The Count of Monte Cristo. Embarrassing truth - I had always known of it (duh), but I only read it after it was mentioned in a TERRIBLE gangster movie (okay not that bad, probably closer to "mediocre" gangster movie) - I think A Bronx Tale? I could be wrong on this one. I also really like the late 90s / early '00s movie version - sue me ;) Big fan of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis

I also REALLY like CS Lewis - funny enough I was just briefly talking about him with a fellow forum go-er recently! Though he didn't crack my top three :( I'll mention the same book here that I mentioned before - The Problem of Pain is a wonderful work.
And I admit I have NEVER heard of Phantom or Christy. Because of your solid other mentions, I'll flip a coin and pick up one of these tomorrow at the library. For some reason, I hope the coin lands "Christy."
*EDIT TO ADD
For some reason, I'm still laughing to myself at the fact that you mentioned the books but quoted the ducks! And I know I'm a bit bummed but I'll have to make sure I'm in next game.

lol. It's probably a bit out of shape - you should probably do some stretching exercises while you wait.
BTW, all Role PMs should be out. If you're on the player list and didn't get one, let me know.
Also, if you have any questions, feel free to inquire. The answer may or may not be clarifying. ;)

Phantom is a fairly obscure book. I don't remember how I came across it. I was a huge Phantom of the Opera fan at the time. It tells the life story of the Phantom and eventually merges in most of the well known parts of the Gaston Leroux story. I enjoyed the author's spin on it.
Christy got more public attention. The story is loosely based on life of the author's mother. First published in the late 1960's, it was made into a television series in the mid-90's that lasted a couple of seasons. The book was a best seller when it was first released and again when the TV series aired. I wasn't aware of either the book/movie at the time. Read the book 5-6 years ago and then saw the series on Netflix. The first year of the TV series stayed pretty true to the book. Kellie Martin and Tyne Daly starred in the series and nailed their respective roles. After the TV series ended, a couple of horrible (imho) TV moives were made. They replaced most of the original cast with bad/mediocre actors.

Am I the only one who takes a set of lock picks with me every time just because sharks may eat my keys? Among other things I also always take two lighters: one mechanic, for the light and one with gas to burn something. Both always come in handy.
I also see many of you like reading. Nice! My picks would be:
- Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.
- Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
- The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio (though I have yet to finish it).

cristigale: I didn't read Monte Cristo until seeing the Jim Caviezel version of the movie. When I found out how long the the book was, I read The Three Musketeers first to determine if I'd be able to make it through Dumas's much longer work.
Tru dat! Best movie version even though it strides away from the original. The book is equally great. Loved every bit. Any story in particular?
Also clever. Night watch books are the best ones in my opinion.
Yes!!

I really must read that at some point. I absolutely love the Three Musketeers (the books far surpasses any movie or TV version as to me they all really miss the point) but haven't got around to reading any more of Dumas' work.

I recently finished second book of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The whole story is published in three tomes here. Great story. It's amazing how a man can change in life.

The book list so far looks suspiciously similar to what we studied in Literature classes in grades 8-9 :)
