Not sure, but I think it's just flavor. If I didn't think it was just flavor I wouldn't have said any name as I am against discussing PM info at all unless a situation calls for it, but there's never a situation on day one that calls for it (IMO).

drealmer7: Chaoji Huozhe is not likely to identify themselves now that dedo did that. If dedo hadn't done that, Chaoji Huozhe might have eventually identified themselves, and then it could make sense for dedo to be like "oh you! I have bad feelings about you!" or somesuch.
dedoporno: Why are you so upset someone will not identify themselves? And just how would that have made me saying "Oh! You! I HATE YOU!!" better? I never said I was upset that someone won't identify themselves (in fact I said maybe we shouldn't identify ourselves quite yet.) What bothers me is you, and now trentonlf, having called out people that you don't like. Follow the logic.
If they're scum and you're town, and you have information about "not liking them" to indicate to you that they are scum, then they are not likely to come out and identify themselves.
If they're town and you're town, you've alienated yourself from someone else/them from you arbitrarily, when you should be working together, despite not liking them. They also won't know you are town or scum if they are town, and so with you having said that about them, they'll probably err on the side of being cautious and not identify themselves.
My issue isn't directly that we don't know who that person is, my issue is that we may have come to know who that person is, and now you've influenced that information, prior to them being revealed, and so, even if they reveal themselves, they are kind of "tainted", as is Leandra Dent. Follow, HSL, and others?
Let's try this:
Would Leandra Dent or Chaoji Huozhe care to indentify themselves? If so, what do you make of dedo or trent not liking you? Do you not like them reversely or do you perhaps not like someone else or what? Uhhuh, let's see what kind of response that gets.
Let me ask this. Why did you, dedo and trent, want to identify people you don't like? What purpose does it serve in trying to figure out this mess?
Some of you certainly don't seem like University Faculty material. The lack of intellect is apparent. Dean Sloth seems to have been fooled by some of you into letting you work here, or was manipulated somehow.
I for one am glad the cops were not called. We are smart (some of us) and capable, we can handle our own mess, and this is not the sort of publicity the school needs before even opening. If we handle this smoothly and without much further incident, I am confident we will be able to start classes on time. I'm glad Dean Sloth has confidence in us being able to do so, I think we can manage as well, as long as we stay focused and use logic to rule our minds, not emotion ruling our...whatever else.

I think, after some of you started to share names, that we should either all share our names - or nobody (more). What do you think? Do the names contain anything dangerous? Or are they just flavour? I am willing to share mine (and I also have someone I don't like in my PM).

Oh, I meant to note this yesterday. "HE"?! My goodness, I thought were were all women, though certainly not all ladies. Do you know something we don't or were you not paying attention at the social or...what?
I would be for us all emptying our purses though, as I am no longer confident that we are all women here, and fear we may have more than just imposters from that other lesser school, but men pretending to be women, and, I cannot abide by that.
And can we please do something with this body? Isn't there a men's bathroom attached to the boardroom for spouses visiting or something, can't we put her in one of the stalls? It's so very impractical keeping her here.

I at least think perhaps those who named people they don't like, should give their own names, and that might be something close to fairer. Dessimu is the only one who has self-identified, but that hasn't been edited into the "discovered information" yet, and I find that very curious. drealmer7: I find this to be not so pro-town play, calling out a name that has negative connotation to you. Noting it as so unless told why it is a good thing otherwise. Now I think Chaoji is less like likely to come forward and identify themselves, which had they done before you said you didn't like them, would have allowed you to come and say "ahh, I've never had a good feeling of you," and probably come off more pro-town. Maybe you and Chaoji are in cahoots? Of course, everything is a maybe pretty much.
............<snip>............
You say it's "not so pro-town play" also "probably come off more pro-town." Why would someone want to come off more pro-town looking?? Sounds deceptive. ............<snip>............
Leonard03: Last game everyone's name was open information. I don't see why it matters so much more this game?
drealmer7: It could matter because it is not open information this game, obviously. Add to that dedo specifically saying someone's name and that they "don't like" them, and I am led to think names do matter this game (I don't see how you don't see my issue with this, dedo, your response #52 to my post #51 is not any kind of response to what I said, really, but a deflection + non-addressing of the issue I raised. about what you did, at all.) I find what you did absolutely scummy and the straw I'm grasping at D1 so far.

I think everyone has a name in their PM of someone they don't like. I still think it's simply flavor and has no bearing on the game. To me it's like those movies that portray a bunch of women getting together and each of them instantly dislikes one of the others for what ends up being vain or stupid reasons just for comedy relief.

We have player A who calls player B by their role-name while stating that they don't like them.
- If player A is Town and player B is Mafia, then the info in player's A PM is meaningful in terms of scum-hunting, and they could use that to support any arguments against player B down the road. That seems to be your argument. How come? Because in this case this piece of info would be interpreted by player A as the moderator having given them a heads up on player B - "hey, keep an eye on player <insert role-name>, you don't like them"?
- If both players are Town, what does the info in player's A PM mean in terms of scum-hunting? If player A chooses to take it as a possible heads up from the mod, then it would have distracted/obstructed them in finding scum, and when it finally comes to light, player A would think "hey, the moderator was just messing with me, what a dick". You yourself argue that in this case the info is "arbitrary", which seems to imply that it's not in the first case.
You also haven't accounted for the case player A being Mafia and player B being Town - what purpose would such info serve in this case? Mafia don't really need a heads up from the moderator, and they certainly can't be messed with by him, as they know who their buddies are. Or would the mod give them the role-name of one of their buddies as the one they dislike? Why would he do that?
And what about possible third-party players? Do they take a liking/disliking to someone in particular? What meaning does it have in their case? How do they use this info?
Unless you're implying that the non-town PMs are different in this aspect. Wouldn't that give Town an advantage to break the game based on PM info and talk?
Do you really think that the moderator would consciously turn the PMs into means that can influence the game one way or the other? More so in our favour? With the mod being yogsloth?
And why, after all your arguments about how what dedoporno and trentonlf did is not "pro-town", you call for more of it by more people?
So, sorry, I still don't follow the logic. I do wonder, however, if you're worried about yourself regarding that "taint" you mentioned. It'd seem that you're convinced this info has some special meaning and weight - are you concerned that you'll be "tainted" before having the chance to establish yourself as "pro-town/town" in the eyes of the rest of us? Or is it that all this talk about it won't let you use it in whatever strategy you have? Perhaps both?
Did it not cross your mind that perhaps yogsloth's having a bit of fun with this? Think about it, thirteen (13) women from the mid 1930s, fourteen (14) including our Dean, locked in a room for an indefinite time period, tasked with solving a murder without outside help, already bickering... Did it not cross your mind that the open interest in/claim of the deceased's belongings, the cocktail party reference, and trentonlf sleeping with someone after (during?) it, also serve to stage the scene?
You've stooped to insulting the intellect of others - seems to me that it's working beautifully. You might, however, want to rethink going this route in regard to that alienating you mentioned as it's not doing you any favours if you're town.
Last, but not least, look what you've done now - you made flubbucket shift her attention away from herself, even if only temporarily.

drealmer did no check up as to why you would call Dessimu a 'he' and jumped to that conclusion without confirming it wasn't a mistake first. That must mean drealmer has additional info or is trying to distract us with something made up.
