You are right in that his claim should be questioned, and it will come down to whether or not each person believes him because there's no way to confirm it right now. But, what purpose does discussing his role do to help town? To me all it will do is open the door for more role discussion and I sure hope we don't head that direction.

If you would like to discuss possible setup of the game let's do it, but any role that someone might have needs to be kept to themselves until it's an appropriate time to reveal it (if it ever is). I would expect we have some investigative roles, and hopefully at some point they will have some info that reveals someone who's scum. That would be a great time to discuss a role, but now the only people who benefit from knowing role information is scum. Scum is already the more informed so why give them more info.

I'm sure everyone is tired of me going bonkers over the subject, I know I sure am, so I'm just going to leave it at this. I find it a bad play and will not participate in any role discussion on day 1, I think it's a scummy play to try and get more roles to reveal themselves. I'm sure yogs has a grand plan in mind, and no I don't want him to spill it, but if he's town I wish he would go about it a different way than he is.

Not sure if that meets a dictionary definition of pigeon-hole, and I'd agree you didn't "push," but at least in terms of what I think the thrust of the word is, it seems to fit. Semantics?

The bolded point is true, and I hadn't really taken that into account. I assumed it was something he did on a whim, but you're right that even if he's town he probably has some sort of strategy in mind now, whether or not he had one at the time. If he was scum he probably had a notion before he made the initial play. He can certainly take care of himself.

On the last part, I don't know where the line is. It just feels...premature. Day isn't ending imminently. And we've at least shifted somewhat off talking about yogs' play to reactions to his play. Which probably signifies something or, y'know, that other thing.

If he's prepared as you say, presumably for now we can also trust that if he is town and has something he thinks we need to know, he'll presumably tell us when it's most appropriate or safest to do so. If he's town and not what you propose, then him denying seemingly helps town not at all and scum somewhat. If he's not town, well...then most of this is moot anyway.

I'm hoping he's Town Bulletproof Berserker because that would be awesome, but will grant it probably is not the most likely. ;)

I was able to check in after lunch today. Tried to post a quick message but my phone logged out of my account and I couldn’t get logged in again. As I said in the sign up, this a busy week, after Friday my schedule should be more mafia friendly.

I find neither yogs or flubb’s play overly scummy. Yogs may be town trying to move the game out of RVS. At the same time, I could see him making the same play as scum. He's proved he’s a skilled scum player. Flubb’s vote for yogs seems consistent with his vote for yogs in the Murder They Wrote game. Similar type of scenario (although not so bold a claim) with a similar result.

@Bookwyrm – the problem I see with 1) is that in doing so, you’re also doing the work for scum and they are the ones who can benefit most from this information at this time (if yogs is town)

I don't really have a problem with Bookwyrm's post. Yes, it does put the information out there, but if Yogs is town then scum know that and they sure as hell will put the effort in to figure out what role he might have and whether he is worth killing.
So knowing scum are going to figure it out, why not let town be privy to the info too?

I'm still very much on the fence about yogs claim. I can't see any pro town motive (though looking at the actual list of roles available, other than coroner there's nothing too vital to town there)
I can't see him being a PGO. If he were town then he's risking killing off a number of town power roles (cop who might investigate him, doctor who might protect him) and therefore I can't see it being an attempt to draw the NK and knock out a scum player as the possible side effects make that a very anti town play.

It has a little more benefit as scum, namely it might draw out some other power roles and it also gives him an aura of mystery with which to deflect some suspicion. But as he had no suspicion before the claim that doesn't seem required...
I also don't like his unvoting flub. He seemed very sure that flub's response was the one he was looking for (which presumably meant he thought he was scum) so backing down a few posts later seems odd. Unless it's because he was called out on it and his motives were not pro town...

Umm, no, not contrary positions at all. I can hold a position for the ending of prohibition and still want everyone to be sober while we discuss the matter, and more importantly, while we deduce and decide who here might be scum.

Ya, and I don't want that to be "part of the play" for me, honestly, though, because I can be pretty inconsistent with being online to begin with, but, I guess it can't be helped it being possibly read in to, it makes sense really. I find all this talk more distracting to the game, though, so, yeah, back to it!

Your point is valid insomuch as I also stated I don't find anything scummy yada yada. My issue stems from previous experience with players acting out early (consistently) and it being sloughed off as harmless. It then turns out to be the opposite. Interesting two times the player turned out to be Serial Killer.

To reiterate my thoughts, I'm challenging yogsloth's soft claims due to the tacit general acceptance it has or could have.

While he does claim to stimulate dialogue, there is also a subtle bowing up if anyone questions any part. I liken it to how CSPVG can be so coy when called on his profound lurking. While it is generally light and humorous, it still skirts the lurking part and allows the question/allegation to continue unchanged.

I say it must have some kind of stalking power role.
