yogsloth: Not yet, but there's three WHOLE days until the selection has to be made. Can we just think this through first? Just slow the roll for a moment until we can think of a plan?

Of course, I'm sure nobody will vote during that three days either, so be prepared for three days of utter tedium in the meantime. Jesus, three days? Honestly?
I think it's Quads way of saying "It's the weekend have fun"
C'mon everyone, quit the jibber jabber and let's get this work done. Those scarabs are just doing more damage by the second. Who thinks they can hold the laser steady? Please, step up!

trentonlf: I think it's Quads way of saying "It's the weekend have fun"
Are you implying that Quad thinks the game isn't fun enough to be worth our time and energy during the weekend!?! ;)

CarrionCrow: Are you implying that Quad thinks the game isn't fun enough to be worth our time and energy during the weekend!?! ;)
Not at all, just that he knows a lot of people have very busy weekends and can't devote the time needed to the mafia game ;)

JMich: You mean at a point where something actually happens and will stimulate conversation, you want us to stop? Ok, powering down for ~12 hours. See ya tomorrow.
No, JMich, by all means discuss discuss discuss. I'm saying can we not start blurting out information from our PMs... you know, like this guy:

avatar
trentonlf: If I read it right and two people are needed for STR and two for FIN then I will volunteer alongside JMich to deal with the teslacrab, but I would not do well in FIN!!
trent just can't reveal PM information fast enough, can he?

Anyway, I'm just saying, there's a lot to consider. You want all volunteers? No volunteers? Stat reveals? Random draw? Compare stats only after known success or failure? Impact of Scum on the away team? What's meant by "multiple" failures? What happens with only one failure? Who's doing the picking? Was that random or is it a role? Do we want that person to reveal or stay anonymous? And on and on.

Again, we have three interminable days to think this through...

JMich: My stats suit this crisis, and I think I'll be of more use during a crisis than at any other point. Except maybe late game analysis.
This is either a very shrewd scum play or a *great* way for you to tell me you're town, as I generally have an AWFUL time reading you! I choose to go with town on this.

trentonlf: If I read it right and two people are needed for STR and two for FIN then I will volunteer alongside JMich to deal with the teslacrab, but I would not do well in FIN!!
Awesome thanks - I didn't have too much of an opinion on you so far but I'm on board now!

And yog I'll be honest I like the way this is playing out. We get a few stats "out there" and let our CO or whatever know what a few people are good at and a decent shot at winning the first crisis, without totally spilling the beans to scum. The rest we can try and fill in by inference as we go along.

And I refuse to believe scum would make such a bold play so early and so quickly on this - just as a heads up I think I'm going to have a hard time believing JMich and trenton are scum for a good long while.

CarrionCrow: The new player part doesn't hold up, since I'm also a new player. I was penalized for my error.
What I meant was that it was because of both reasons: he is new, and he was first to edit.

For instance, I wouldn't have gotten a pass, had I been first to screw up. Or, I hope I wouldn't have.
Sorry for the late reply, was called AFK

@Ixamyakxim - not quoting you, as you have made several posts while I was gone.

I'm really curious why you felt the need to advice me against voting for drealmer7, and instead finish you off. Are you really that concerned about him getting lynched? Or was that a test to see if I'm sticking with my vote on you?
As for the finishing you off - not sure what to make of it; it almost sounds like you don't think others can make up their own mind, and will just blindly do whatever someone else tells them to.

I had no intention to vote drealmer7, at least not Today, but I find it interesting that, of all those that questioned him, you're singling me out; you seem determined, if not desperate, to cast suspicion on me, while accusing me of trying to do that to him. Kind of seems like you're trying to build a wagon on me, using him.

It's also quite interesting that it's you that has linked yourself to him, yet you try to convince everyone that it was me. Try rereading my posts, I was trying to understand why drealmer7 makes such a distinction between you and trentonlf because I don't see what drealmer7 thinks is so scummy about trentonlf.

And if you're town, you should know that just because you see something a certain way, or think that you do, doesn't mean that every other town sees it too. I can only be 100% certain of one person being town, and that is myself. Everyone else could be of either alignment, and I will question them if I feel they should explain or elaborate on something they've said.
You're free to see that as casting suspicion, but then perhaps you should keep in mind that it applies to everyone.

Ixamyakxim: And yog I'll be honest I like the way this is playing out.
Oh, so do I, it's very cool. Other than the huge timeline, it has a lot of complexity to the situation. I like it! Already thinking through a bunch of different things.

Ixamyakxim: And I refuse to believe scum would make such a bold play so early and so quickly on this -
Then you're a sucker.

I'm not even saying I disagree with you on those two particular players, but this is a pretty awful statement.

Did you two switch brains at some point when I wasn't looking?

I see you.

I should also be helpful with maintaining the situation.

This is cool Quad! It's like BSG + Dark moon, I love it!

That would be scary and traumatizing!

dedoporno: For real?!?!
lol, the difference is, when I blurt out something from my PM it's because I have a plan and trust myself to handle the ramifications. This feels a bit more... ramshackle.

_____

My first real thought is that whomever is choosing the participants should not reveal themselves.

It this is a fixed role, it has to be Town, for simple balance purposes. You just couldn't design this with Scum choosing the team members - the potential for stacking the deck is too high. If this person reveals, we don't know the consequences of Scum disabling or killing the role for the next crisis. (I'm assuming there will be one per day - sound right?)

Do you think you're strong enough to hold the lasers steady? If so, don't hesitate.
