HypersomniacLive: I agree - while I liked the idea, I think there could (should?) be some incentive for town other than "get the most townie ones on it", or speed lynch to completely avoid them. And while I don't know how that could have been done, I think it would have benefited the game if there was something more to them than just being picked and wait on the results, something to keep the players engaged and active.
Yeah, I was thinking bonuses or extra roles if town completes them successfully.
Just something to engage players during the day and to focus on to prevent slow down and disinterest.
I'd like honest answers to this question, both from players and observers.

How many people found that my claim ruined the fun?

Not the game, as I don't think my claim did that, but the fun of the game.

I can say truthfully that it was a lot of fun to sucker-punch Town, but I also really don't want to ruin everyone else's enjoyment of the game.
Seriously guys? Didn't want to vent and rant, and just get on with the game, but it does seem quite hard to do so. And no, it's not the PM discussion that makes it so, but more or less what Vitek posted here.

I'm out of this thread before I post something I'll regret.

I missed it - what claim? Your original one or did you make an odd / wacky false claim toward the end of the game?

*and edit to add

Though it ended abruptly QUAD I will admit I had a lot of fun with the game. I enjoyed the "mini-deadlines" imposed by the Crisis Events, I liked the wacky back and forth that happened from having so many roleblockers.

Sure, sure some stuff went wrong but I was having a good time along the way.

My original claim.

Oh, and BTW, I'd like to point out that I had yogsloth under suspicion on Day 1 and my vote was sitting on HijacK for most of Day 2. Mchack was definitely the last suspicious in my opinion. Well played, man!

Your claim was fine - I would just suggest in the future when you make a claim, especially one with a very *particular format* (insert italics here) sent to you in your PM, you dress it up a bit.

There's breadcrumbing and then there's quoting from PM. A lot of people, myself included, are a bit sensitive when it comes to the idea of a game becoming a bunch of people comparing PMs instead of backstabbing, shouting, fighting, lying and what the hell, deducing.

FWIW, the same could be said about QA's latest intervention regarding the droids.

I still think that he realised some problems with the PMs only too late, and stepped in to restore some balance, but probably misjudged the effects of him doing so, or the way he tried to do it.

Yes. The mod shouldn't step in to interact with how the game plays. Good or bad, the players should make their own choices about what to use. Saying "Oh no, this one was my bad" should be kept until after the game ends.

Edit: "Shouldn't not step" should have been "shouldn't step" or "should not step", fixed it.

Agreed. I wonder if you guys truly would have lynched me for that if quad hadn't stepped in? if I had been town and had the station crew part in my pm I wouldn't have claimed it anyway, All I wanted to do was claim that I'm the perfect guy for this crisis (generator technician and a generator repair crisis, I mean Hello?) and didn't want to give anything away from my abilities ... So no matter if I was town or scum it was a bad reason to lynch someone for, I think. As town I might have had a better defense, but I wasn't even back from work to really think about defending when my wagon was already dissolved.
And I have to reiterate, quad never said anything to make me town, it's only your assumptions that did that, and I was fighting for a complete disregard of the whole matter the entire game :/ you could have lynched me for behaving scummy no problem, but it seems I was towny enough for everyone, but trent ;)

Well, he made a mistake, but it was an honest mistake - are we going to crucify him and be pissed off till the end of the year now?
After all, it's only game, it's not like he screwed up open heart surgery or something.
You know, humans make mistakes, perhaps you being a droid and all prevents you from understanding/accepting that.

I think I could hold a grudge for a couple of months, but I most likely won't ;)

Yes. The above is meant as advice, not a talk down. I don't know if this has come up in mafia games before, so I do think that it's best if the mod doesn't interfere with how the players want to play. So, live and learn.

As if us droids are infallible. Take a look here.

hehe, well, any lynch on day 1 would have been a good one. I see that ;) And I kinda was ok with dying first so that I loose the huge responsibility I felt being first time scum... Still it would have been better if it was because of a slip or me behaving scummy or anything. This I don't feel was any mistake on my part, that I should've been lynched for...

There are ways and ways to give advice. IMHO, you came in a bit too strong, glad to see you've decided to lighten up.

Of course you're not, you're human creations after all. Not sure you can relate to human nature though.
Well then. That was… crazy.

@Quad I will note that pretty mug first thing I thought was "so someone's chooses people to go on crisis? Sonds like The Resistance"

I feel kind of bad for the new players in this game. I don't think it really gave the feeling of a usual game, with all the shenanigans going on.

I'd also like to mention post #275 in the dead thread :P
