I think perhaps it could be speaking for itself, which is what I fear may have happened here. It is pretty much saying "screw it all, I'm tired of you humans and how you do things, I'm running things now, and I'm going to conduct a bit of an experiment now, please bear with me while I watch you all kill each other needlessly one by one."

I've had some more thoughts. If the AI/computer system is faulty, it could indeed be the cause of intruders, and, if that is the case, I would certainly think there are some here among us. Furthermore, if that is the case, then it would do us no good to start blaming the AI or to try to eliminate it, because the intruders will still probably be able to have an advantage of the situation regardless of its usefulness, and, if we are to get ahold of the situation, we need the AI on our side to help on a wider scale for the entire station, not just this room. We need to get everything back to normal function and assess the situation ourselves. For all we know, the exact same scenerio is being played out in dozens of rooms across the station, and the AI and/or intruders are taking notes on the variances and dynamics of each situation.

So, 1.) it could just be a simple faulty computer system/AI over-reacting and there is no real threat 2.) it could be a rogue AI controlling the entire ship, with no intruders, and the threat is severe, 3.) there could be intruders that have taken over the computer system/AI or just made it go a bit wonky, using it to their advantage either way, as well as being among us manipulating the situation as we speak.

There could also be other options, of course, and I'm open to hearing anyone's views and input.

I knew I was going to feel like a rat in a cage coming to this station, but I never knew it was going to feel so literal.
