Been mulling this over the last couple of hours, trying to figure out how to make the best of it for Town after Mr. Robbins spilled his guts, lol.

Reading your post, it sounds like you already used your power? It's a day power? I would strongly advise you not to say who you used it on. Actually, I'm highly puzzled, but anyways, it doesn't matter - my advice to both you and the recipient is to keep quiet.

But I will now answer on one thing - the reason I was slightly vague about being role-blocked is that I believe the intention was to role block me, but it was a moot point. I didn't have a night action anyway, so the roleblock didn't affect anything.

Oh, and, I am now 100% in favor of the mass role claim.

Since flub would rather die than claim, my opinion (which is humble and meek) is that Krypsyn should go first. Followed by Sage, then cristi, then Lift, then I don't care.

But for "the reasons" I think it has to happen, and absolutely pronto. Nowsies. Deadline is in ~ 50 hours and we've got to sort some stuff out.

@mchack – I give you credit for a smart play on day one. I thought you were vanilla. I don’t think it was wise to claim at this time, but what’s done is done.

@yogs – why are you so certain that all the “key” town roles have already been revealed? Do you have some inside knowledge of the roles in the game? Assuming trent is town, did you “know” his role was in the game? I’d actually be surprised if scum tried to role-block you last night. With so many players and potential for roles, why couldn’t there be some sort of watcher? It’d be risky for scum to visit a high profile player if a watcher is in our midst. Are you certain scum has a role-blocker?

BTW, I spent several hours this afternoon and evening re-reading what occurred while I was gone. Last Sunday and Monday were a particular blur because I was reading too fast on Monday to try and catch up. It does frame a few things in a different light. I’ll post as many of my thoughts as possible before bedtime.

Cop is out in the open. Doc is out (and dead). But Mr. Robbins and his sidekick Mr. four-letter were the real stars of this show for Town. With these four flushed out, I'd be quite surprised if there's something better yet to come.

So why would you be surprised Scum tried to role-block a self-proclaimed Cop? If we've got a watcher who watched me, I think the group would really REALLY like to know who visited me, eh? One might have even sort of hoped exactly such a thing would happen, you know?

Yes it is a day action and my cover as vanilla kinda depended on people not thinking there's a day action in the game. As soon as Hijack claimed, I was sure my cover was blown anyway. Sure they didn't nightkill me yesterday, but I was increasingly certain, I'll be shived tonight. Or drowned in some disgusting desert ;)
And before I go out and can't help clear anything up, I decided to claim and help sort this through in the few hours I had left. That's my reasoning and seeing as both hijack and adalia knew or suspected me, I'm pretty sure scum also figured it out. I was being rather high profile on day two anyway (also due to thinking my cover is out anyway).

I used my day action today and on day 1, so as of now there are two unrestricted roles in the game. Tomorrow there'll be a third and scum can't prevent that, as either me or hijack will be around tomorrow.

As for pointing out who those two are, I can keep quiet, but I rather thought being confirmed town is better than staying hidden (albeit really hidden are none of the restricted roles after that day 1). There's only today, though that I can do that. I'm pretty sure, I'm not able to say anything on the matter tomorrow.

And anyone thinking scum might also have restricted roles, just look at the two flips we already have. scum isn't restricted so an confirmed unrestricted role is a confirmed townie.

I agree, that should about exhaust the most important town roles. Perhaps I think so for a different reason. Here’s what’s been on my mind the past few days…things seem to be going almost too well for town. Your play at the beginning was bold and you took flak for it. But it almost seems too easy for town to win this one. Even with the dead doc and Mr. Robbin’s reveal, it still looks pretty good for town. At face value, it seems too easy for this game to swing in town’s advantage. Which makes me wonder what scum may have to counter. I don’t have anything specific in mind, but I’m cautious. I wouldn’t expect RWarehall to design a game that could swing so strongly in town’s favor in spite of town mistakes.

Yes, it’d be great if we have a watcher. I thought the possibility of a watcher would give scum hesitation from visiting you. Too many players with too many unknowns on night one. I tend to err on the side of caution but that does not mean scum will, so perhaps I was wrong.

This is the type of thinking that concerns me. Being over confident is exactly the sort of thing we need to avoid. @mchack - why do you assume that because CSPVG flipped with no obvious restriction, that all scum will do the same?

Well, the way I was thinking about being able to confirm somebody is by unrestricting them and then have them say they were and me confirming, I was indeed unrestricting that same person. that's why I said unrestricted (by me) power role is a confirmed townie. Feel free to tell me when I have a flaw in that reasoning.

Of course I can't be sure, that all scum roles are unrestricted by default. But then again as you pointed out, the game seems to favour town anyway, so I don't think scum got another hinderance by having their roles restricted, too.

fair enough on the being too overconfident part. That's just the reasoning going through my head, and I'm glad I can now discuss it with all of you. I'm still rather sure, me claiming now was the right thing to do. Because I imagined what day 3 was gonna be like without me being there to say my bit... we don't need more uncertainties in the game I thought.

Even though there was a possibility for scum to figure you out it wasn't that big to actually go for it and come out. But, oh well...

I would say all roles that were "self-helped" should keep quite about it since there is nothing positive to come from their claim. On one hand (if mchack isn't provided with a limited list) mchack isn't protected from trying to un-restrict a scum by accident which means that he can't confirm anyone's just by targeting them. On another, if mchack's both targets are properly un-restricted and Town they are automatically primary targets for NK since scum know for a fact they can act at night.



With the risk of being accused of piggy-backing I have to say this annoyed me, as well. Such a question is entirely useless and the only thing it's good for is to make it's author look more like they are actively questioning people and looking for scum. Come on, cristi, you can do better. You had quite a few pretty good thoughts and suggestions before, don't step back like this.

Well, I was about to post one thing on Saturday, when drama happened with my extended family. Then I come back and catch up, and mchack has claimed. Well... I'll first sum up what I was going to write on Saturday, before getting distracted by a ... well let's just say I am not too happy with him right now and leave it at that. ;)

Alrighty, the big thing when I last posted was trentonlf and flubbucket.

I tend to believe trentonlf's claim in terms of role, and I read him more as a town or neutral than scum. His role is needless complex to be a fake-claim, and given CSPVG's role it is very likely they were unaffiliated. I had a had about why two such similar roles might be in the game, but be named differently. CSPBG was a Pick Pocket (AKA Thief), so perhaps if CSPVG visited someone, and stole the items, it would prevent a normal Flavor Cop from gained said information. Trentonlf hasn't claimed a 'normal' Flavor cop, but his description of himself does match the theme of the game, so still fits for me.

As for flubbucket, if what trentonlf says is true (which I tend to believe, at present) then, as yogsloth says, he is affiliated with Witness Protection in some capacity. All the talk about his avatar means little to me, because, even if he is bread-crumbing something, it could be implying a lie.

As for the recent revelation by mchack, I need to think on, as prior to his claim he was near the top of my scum-list. I may require a paradigm shift... which sounds tiring.

The rule of thumb, for a game where there are no roles (only alignments), is that the Mafia should be the square root of the total players.

All assumptions can be dangerous. I like to hear, definitively, what a person's assumptions are when they make statements of certainty.

Yogsloth said there are "probably" 3 scum left, so it wasn't with "certainty". To me it just came across as brushing the issue off as not worth discussing. This can be dangerous for town, and is occasionally useful for scum. Given the number of power roles (restricted, or otherwise) I think it is quite possible that we have more than 3 scum left, though they may not all be Mafia.
