agentcarr16: "Observations"
I didn't do anything before, since you prolly shouldn't be rewarded for infractions, but I like your skill with the poems, so I've +1d your posts.

yogsloth: So.

Sixteen players.
Whaddya get?
The hope of lynching somebody today is nil. You're not going to get nine people in this game to agree on lunch, let alone lynch.
Not even Stephen?

trentonlf: Why are you being so negative?
Trent, I think you are completely misunderstanding Yog's post. I think his line about "here's who you are" was him paraphrasing what the GM sent him so he can "prove" he's town. I don't think he was calling anybody here a flawed has-been. That's my take anyways. I don't think anybody here on GOG would be that rude. I didn't see any negativity in his post at all, FWIW.

It does show me how people's comments can be misconstrued, so I guess not roleplaying is the best course after all.

@Bluemooner, what I mean is if no one wants to share thoughts and ideas Town will not progress. Town will sit stagnant twiddling their thumbs not sure what to do or who to look at, gets town nowhere and they lose momentum.
Understood. But I assume after all these games that people have figured out some standard ways to detect mafia, so I'm waiting for some of you vets to show these tricks so I can learn.

Maybe I'm just overexcited at my first game and want something to HAPPEN already.
Post-work vote count:

2 Agentcarr16 (Adaliabooks, Flubbucket)
2 Sage103082 (Agentcarr16, BlueMooner)
2 Yogsloth (McHack, Trentonlf)
1 JMich (HijacK)
1 HijacK (CSPVG)
1 HypersomniacLive (Cristigale)
1 BlueMooner (Sage103082)

With 16 players alive it takes 9 votes to kick someone off the island and 8 votes to "no-lynch".
Agentcarr16, Sage103082 and Yogsloth are closest at L-7.

Not voting: JMich, HypersomniacLive, Lifthrasil, Yogsloth, Krypsyn and Dedoporno

Deadline is in 9 days on Monday Sept 14th at Midnight EDT (UTC -4)
[Extended due to Holidays, Vacations, 16 players and its the first day]
Of course you can always vote someone off before that...hint...hint... {Like that ever works}

Bagatha Chrustie reporting in on the first day of the first Day...
Some RVS, an unexpected claim followed by some pointed accusations.
And we even had a little poetry from AgentCarr16.
Audience, if you weren't watching today, you missed a lot, but don't worry, I'm sure the fireworks will really get going in upcoming days!

RWarehall: So far, I think the suggestion of punishment for Krypsyn is possibly the most cruel if he slips up...
Does it count if I do it on purpose? Now I am curious.

avatar
RWarehall: Although all should be forewarned, they promise worse for a second offense and may not be so light-handed the next time someone slips up....
Promise?! Now I want to double post more than ever!

Yes, I agree, thought the same thing. Curiosity killing the cat...
It's all well-documented in the observer thread, but remember who it is creating these ideas. If you are so curious, you don't even have to edit a post, just ask, I'm sure they will accommodate. So far, good ideas from Bler, Bookwyrm, Leonard and Quad...with a couple others throwing in some agreement...

Heck, it's almost a toss up which is more interesting, the observer thread or the game thread and Krypsyn's Youtube videos...
Right, feeling a bit more clear headed now and had some time to think.

Nice to see we do have some other Foos fans in, they were awesome. Not the best gig of theirs I've been to (that's a toss up between when we saw them in a club with only 300 people in last year or the last time they played this venue about three or four years ago) but it's up there. And we're going again tonight :)

Anyway, back to the game. Yogs seems to be the flavour of the month, and I'm not sure how beneficial it is to talk about what he might or might not be trying to do... but then again, if by talking about it I spoil it then it's probably just as bad a play as it seems on the surface.

So let's look at the options:

Yogs is town:
1) It's a joke. Wouldn't be the first time yogs has done something like this as a joke, but this isn't quite the same as previous times so I think there might be more to it.
2) It's true. In that case this would appear to be a double bluff. Yogs is hoping that by claiming cop scum will think "there's no way in hell he's the cop" and not hit him.
3) It's a lie. Lying is generally pretty anti town but maybe yogs has thought by claiming cop scum almost have to hit him, just in case it's true. Which results in one of two things, either yogs gets protected because the Doctor (if we have one) thinks the same thing and the NK gets wasted, or yogs dies. Second result is only good if yogs is vanilla or has a role which is an anti-town utility. It's also possible he's a specific role which could benefit in some way by being the NK target, such as a PGO. But if that's true he's just as likely to kill a lot of town power roles as he is to hit scum.

Yogs is scum:
1) Same as above. Seems a bit riskier a joke / play to make as scum as it has clearly drawn attention to himself.
2) It's less likely to be true if yogs is scum, while we did have a scum alignment cop last game it's not a very usual scum role, and I'm sure RWarehall was one of those who wasn't keen on the alignment flipped roles last game so it seems unlikely (but not impossible). If it is true then presumably yogs wants to draw a role cop investigation to prove it and gain town credentials, but this seems a risky play with little benefit for scum as it piles a lot of suspicion on him.
3) It could be a lie as scum for some of the reasons above. Can't remember who mentioned it, but the idea of a scum buddy watcher is not unreasonable and would possibly hand scum one or more town power roles on a plate, but there is the risk yogs might get lynched and the question is whether or not scum would think it worth that risk to reveal a few power roles. He could be a scum PGO with the same goal as before but actually wanting to kill all the town power roles, this is still quite eisky but the rewards for scum seem a little better with this one.

All of the above could also apply if yogs is neutral, depending on what his goals or win condition is.

Last option is if yogs has some kind of bizzarre role (Having tourettes sounds both hilarious and plausible) which doing this gives him some benefit. Maybe by claiming a role in his first post he gets that role, or maybe he can mess with the lynch somehow and wants a wagon on himself. Who knows, the possibilities there could be pretty endless...

Man, I tried to find a You-Tube clip of Anne Heche acting like she had Tourettes on Ally McBeal years ago, but I suppose that is just too long ago and obscure even for 'Teh Intarwebz' (or my Google-fu was lacking). Too bad; she was pretty good at it, as I recall.

So, you guys are saved from another You-Tube link ... this time!
While I do dislike yog's methods (and view of the game), I will not vote for him yet. It is a case of provoking reactions, and the reactions do tell quite a bit this time, weirdly enough. Problem is that, once again, one cannot be sure who gets more info from said reaction, town or scum.
Sorry everyone, having lower back issues since (my) Friday night, so was not on at all until now. Need to catch up, you've been surprisingly chatty for a weekend and D1.

I can; scum.

At least this early on. I don't like talking about the set-up or roles on Day 1. There are too many unknown at this point, and scum has more data points to better connect the dots.

Possible, but not really sure this is the case in this game. Let's leave said discussion for another day though.

Sorry for your pain. I've had minor back pain, and found Aleve helped a lot. Hopefully you have something stronger if your pain is disabling you.

Yay!

BlueMooner: I asked this in the other thread, and I'll ask again here for feedback, what do you think of roleplaying?
I personally like roleplaying. It makes the game somewhat more difficult for town, because it negates the 'you are playing differenthly than in the last game' approach, but that's exactly what I like about it. It focuses play more on the current game and less on previous experience. But for that to be effective, everybody would have to roleplay and the consensus around here is, that roleplaying rather distracts from the game. But you can play your part any way you want.

To all: sorry for being late. I actually hadn't noticed the game had started. Thanks for the pm pointing that out, by the way.

On to the game: are we moving out of RVS already? Great! But no wonder after that fist post by Yog. Yog is an experienced player and he knows the reaction such an early claim will bring and that it carries the risk of getting him lynched on day one. A true town cop would not risk his role and his benefit to town for such a rash claim. So, whether Yogs is town or scum, he is lying about his role. And I am a firm believer in lynch all liars.

So: vote Yogsloth

Sure, he might be a Jester out to get lynched. But if it is so, let him have his lynch and his win. It won't end the game and it will remove one distraction from the game and it would mean that the most difficult lynch of the game, Day 1, hits a neutral. Which is better than hitting town.
