This was CSPVG’s first post in ~72 hours, and unlike myself (on a pretend hunger strike) this is all you can ever expect.

This brings his total post count up to seven. The second post with actual game content.

There is no pro-Town reason to ever have a player like this in the game.

If he is Scum, he will continue to hide in plain sight, getting a free pass one day after another, just because Town doesn’t have the spine to lynch someone.

If he’s Town, a player like this is less than useless. A playstyle like this is a distraction. Without contribution, eventually suspicion will land on him, and you are almost compelled to lynch in late game when mis-lynch will hurt the most. Go back and look at the last two games and ask yourself how well the players employing this “barely play, rarely post” style contributed to Town victory. How helpful is it? Is it pro-Town behavior? It’s devastating to Town to have a Town player that doesn’t post, doesn’t think, doesn’t read closely, doesn’t help. There is not one legitimate pro-Town argument to keeping this kind of playstyle in the game.

It’s Day 1. There will not be any Scum delivered to you on a silver platter today. You will not be certain anyone is Scum. Period. For all you wussy, whiny, reluctant voters – you simply will not be able to vote with 100% confidence here in Day 1. It won’t happen. It won’t ever happen.

So you either sit tight, no lynch, and waste all our time for two weeks… or you make an analytical decision and remove the least-useful player early so it doesn’t become a distraction later.

Some of you understand this. I think some of you understand what I was all about kicking off the Day in the highly unusual style that I did. I get that I’ve been acting in a very unorthodox way. If you’re not tuned in to what I was doing, it looks even stranger. But I am Town Cop, and voting for me Today would just be phenomenally bad. How badly do you think Scum wants me lynched today?

Do a thought experiment with me: Imagine for just a moment that you’re Scum, and some yahoo role-claims Town Cop in the first post. You know he’s not on your team, so he’s Town or Neutral, and if Town, almost certainly telling the truth. You would be even more confused about the play than a Town player. How important would it seem to lynch that guy so you don’t have to worry about the WIFOM of trying to night kill him, and what might happen?

They would love to have yet another game where they lynch the most active, most useful Town player the first Day, because that is what Scum always want.

I agree with you on the point of people hesitating to vote, and that is something I still don't understand. Voting is easy and useful, but people seem to want to treat it as a last resort for some reason.

My question to you is this, and it's one I've mentioned before. Why if you are Town Cop would you waste a power role with this gambit? All you've done if you are telling the truth is given scum a target to NK or possibly roleblock/commute if they have roles that can do that. You've taken a strong investigative power role out of towns hand and tossed it into the useless pile.

How is this a pro town move? I've seen your explanation of why you did what you did, but the benefits of doing so are not better than actually using your role IMO and so I'm still not fully understanding why you even chose to do this. I can say it's not something I would have chosen to do if I had your role.

I understand your issue with how CSPVG plays, but it is how he always plays no matter if he's town or scum so saying he needs to be removed because of it means he shouldn't even play to begin with and that's not something I can get on board with. If I find his play is scummy I will vote for him. I will not vote for someone because they only post every couple of days unless all the posts are "sorry I need to catch up will post later" posts, and I don't see CSPVG's post as being that way. A different play style is not a reason to lynch someone. As you pointed out, this is day one exactly what useful information is someone going to post? You are trying to lynch someone because you don't like their play style, simple as that, and that is not a reason to lynch someone.

Again, I ask you trent - how much did the "don't post, don't play" styled players contribute to Town victory the last couple of games? What if they had actually contributed something useful - would that have changed those games?

What you are saying is that you will give such players a free pass day after day after day - and if one of them happens to be Scum, that's fine by you. You will refuse to lynch them on principal that they aren't "acting Scummy"... when in fact, they're not acting like anything at all. Saying up front you will give any player that refuses to actively contribute a free pass every single game is terrible play from a Town perspective.

As to myself, like I said, I know it looks bizarre.... but I'm not the type of player to do something crazy for no reason.

That's not what I'm saying at all. If I find their play scummy I will vote for them. I find when CSPVG posts he usually contributes. I don't find him to be a "don't post don't play" as you put it. If I felt CSPVG was not actually contributing but hiding behind his play style of only posting so often I would vote him. JMich posts as often as CSPVG on day 1, why have you not mentioned him? Sage has posted just as much, why not mention her? What makes CSPVG the one to choose? Is it because you don't like his play style being what it is every game? As I said that's a poor reason to vote someone.

This is day 1, no one has any information to post. No one has had a chance to investigate anyone (if someone has a N0 action they are keeping it quiet). What exactly are you wanting CSPVG or anyone else to post at this time so you would consider them to be contributing?

Of course, you’re the player than constantly berates others to post and contribute – but anything that anyone contributes, you immediately label as “Scummy”, no matter what it is. Look where your vote is now – you’re doing it again. Once again, you are voting for the most active player simply for the crime of posting something to move the game forward. That’s all you do. You won’t vote for CSPVG because his contribution of precisely zero is “not Scummy”, but my herculean efforts to launch the game and move it forward are “Scummy”. That’s really bad play, and here we are again and again and again.

Terrible list, especially since you have the new players only as Strong Town/Leaning Town, players whom are probably hardest to read due to too many uncertainties.
