GymHenson: What, the callouses or the paper cuts? ;)

Jokes aside, I get what ya mean...and am glad you seem to be enjoying the game.
No, I read gamebooks from front cover to back cover XD
Sure, maybe next time there could be some NPC interaction? wink wink
Or a party adventure?

Check Shower Area in Patient Warde, please

dedoporno: Yeah, that's kind of a problem for me as well - I don't mind choices but I kind of "need" to do everything that's there to be done and if I don't it bothers me a bit. So it's annoying when things are exclusive to each other or if there is way too much to do. I've put the game on hold right now as I'm not in love with the gameplay and I've done a massive amount of quests already to the point where it started to feel like a chore. So I'm taking a break and have moved to Red Dead Redemption on which I have the last couple of missions to finish.
Yeah, once you get out of the starting area in Fallout 3 and NV, the map is more or less open to be explored...making it a bit hard to keep track of what has or hasn't been explored and completed.

They are nice games story/graphics/etc wise, but tough on people like us, it seems.

Well that was tried in the prototype this game is based on...there was a chance for players to work with one another(or not) to win the game, inventory management, etc....but it was a bit too much, and led to the game dragging on.

I might add some stuff in possible future games, though....to make the game a bit more interactive. :)
(this game was made simple so as just to get people used to the concept and roll it out a bit quicker, and make it easy to complete)

Also players CAN work with each other NOW to maybe help each other out(as there is more than 1 win result in the game) if they so choose....like for example: players could suggest set pieces for the currently active players to try...either to help them or possibly hinder them(depending on if a player wants others to win or fail, etc).

ZFR: Check Shower Area in Patient Warde, please
Peeking into the showers room, you see not much out of the ordinary. Shower stalls line one wall, and shower supplies are set on shelves along another wall. You carefully reach out and test some of the taps....nothing weird(such as blood or slime) comes out of the shower heads when you do so, and nothing sets on fire or tries to eat you.

"Well, at least we can shower in safety if need be" you think to yourself, before heading back to the group.

Nothing Happens
(token wasted)

The voice says quietly to ZFR:
"You're the little rapscallion who thinks they've cracked the system, now aren't ya?"

After a small chuckle, it continues:
"Enjoy your respite while it lasts....I will likely get you in due time"

(OP note to ZFR: You are now "frozen"...i.e. your turn is up until the next round)

cose_vecchie: Ok count me in and please be patient, I hope I don't make a mess.
You should do fine....and it is now your turn. :)

(You have 24 hours from now......till around 3:30 am EST on February 1st.....to spend your first token. You may pick any "set piece" listed on the right side of the map pic in the OP post that hasn't been chosen before by another player. The list of already chosen set pieces is in the same OP post, btw. If you need more more, simply PM me and i'll try to arrange an extension...otherwise, good luck to ya)

Also ZFR seems to either be very lucky(well maybe not as lucky as Micro), or maybe he has "cracked the system"?
(As possibly shown in link above....with Mike Teevee playing the part of ZFR)

The open world is fine, it's just that I have everlasting love for Fallout 2 which is the greatest Fallout of all time (and a top contender for a game in general) so the newer fps Fallout games are just not cutting it for me. New Vegas is a great game but no contest in comparison to the originals. Personal opinion :)

What a weird coincidence...FO2 is also my favorite as well, then FO1 and BOS, then the new ones NV and FO3. :)
(never finished any of em, sadly.....due to various circumstances.....some day might try again, though)

OK, maybe I'm crazy, but I have got an idea: I want to spend my token on the surgery beds in the Medical Roome.
I mean, you'd be hard pressed to think of a worse place to nose into, am I right? An operation table in a demented sanatorium... the mere thought of it is enough to make you shudder. It's practically a synonym for gruesome death. But that's precisely the rationale behind my choice: to look where no one would ever think of looking. You can sometimes find salvation in the most unexpected places. Moreover, no one so far has peeked into the Medical Roome - I'm curious to see what could be found there. I only hope it's not my end...

BTW: sorry Dedoporno and Dogmaus... this little game is increasingly threatening to ruin my sleep...

avatar
GymHenson: but I have trouble with open world games(too much choice at once "overloads" my mind).
Same for me. It's the reason why I don't play many games of that kind.

cose_vecchie: Same for me. It's the reason why I don't play many games of that kind.
I can play some of them if I can make a list of things and places i've explored.....of course, if the lists get too big or I take too long between play sessions(like if I put the game on hold for a bit) I sometimes have to restart entirely.

So you've been watching the game that much? I hope you liked it so far, if that's the case. :)

Going to the medical roome, in hopes of maybe finding something to help you survive, your eyes are drawn to the surgery beds.

You remember them well.....such as the time about a year or so back when a patient had some stitches put in after they slipped and fell in the daye roome. Going over to them, you search all around....hoping beyond hope to maybe find some implement to either escape or defend against the encroaching(and possibly lovecraftian) horrors. All you find is some gauze, some bandages, and other first aid supplies on some shelves next to them.

"All the useful and cool (i.e. dangerous) stuff must be locked up somewhere" you think to yourself, as you sigh and head back to the others.

Nothing Happens
(token wasted)

"Didn't I put a trap there...I thought I did...something to do with straps and buckles.....ah well, I will likely get them next time." the disembodied voice says quietly, more so to itself than the patients still occupying the building.

-

Well now, cose, you have a choice to make: you may either spend another token on another set piece and try again, or pass your turn to the next player in line.

(you have around 12 hours from now to make your choice, give or take a few hours...if you need more time, lemme know here or via PM)

I want to spend my second token and I feel very attracted to the Lead Physiciane Office. Probably because in the office of such an authority figure you can have reasonable hope to find some valuable piece of information, some kind of insight into who runs (or ran?) this place, what kind of activities take place inside it, the reason why you're there...
I want to take a look at his bookshelf. Sampling someone's library can offer you some knowledge about his interests, tasks, personality... judging by past events, maybe I'll find a copy of the Necronomicon... or maybe a secret passage to the outside world, who knows...
(at first i entertained the idea of looking into the bathroom, but then I discarded it because I was too afraid of being swallowed whole by a haunted toilet like that vintage toy...)

Of course I have... yeah I liked it, as a gamebook collector and occasional reader (including old CYOAs).

You go into the Lead Physiciane's office with the intent of approaching the bookshelf within. You recall that there were many impressively large volumes of informative looking texts here, and you think to yourself "Maybe something here will have some info on how I can escape", as you search over the mostly thick and heavy volumes.

Sadly, you find nothing of use in escaping.....either magikal or mundane. You do, however, find several books that might be good reading....and you make a mental note to tell the others in case anyone might want something to read to calm them a bit and/or to pass the time.

Nothing Happens

"What did you think....that this was like in the movies? I don't think you'll find it's that easy to escape" The disembodied voice says with what SOUNDS like a grin.

You may pick any "set piece" on the map in the OP post that no one picked before[a list of already picked set pieces is also in the OP post]. If you require more time due to IRL, let me know here or via PM)

This one seems to be the most obvious deathtrap in the whole ward but I just can't resist checking it...

*The silent patient known as the Lone Scout enters the Daye Roome. Once there, he raises from the wheelchair and unsteadily walks to the TV, as if mesmerized by the screen.*

I check the TV in the Daye Roome

Well... I think I must consider myself lucky just to have survived :)
I'll wait my turn then.

That's exactly what I thought... that and the toilet :)
Let's see what happens.

Ha ha ha, the toilet was my second option. But at the moment I won't risk checking that in the case I survive :)
