* 'The early bird', as he is called by his fellow patients because he is always up first, is making his rounds as usual. He is always very active, always chipper. Even a bit hyperkinetic. Now he is eagerly awaiting the chance to do something. Things NEED doing around here! So he looks in every room to see whether the wardens have overlooked anything that he might do something with, and he says hi to everybody and everything. *

@mod: what exactly is the difference between 'being frozen' and just not bein in one's turn? Are there situations in which not frozen players can act, even if it's not their turn? Or are frozen players disallowed from chatting in the thread until they are unfrozen?

Essentially "frozen players" are those who used up their initial allotment of tokens(in the case of this game that would be 2 tokens) who didn't get a saved(win) or eliminated(fail) result.....whereas players who are just waiting for their turn still have a token or tokens left to spend.
(this group includes those who passed their turn to the next player in the player rotation after spending one token and those....if any....who didn't have a turn yet at all)

All players who are currently not the active player(which atm is you) may chat among themselves, but may not "play the game"(spending a token or tokens) until it is their turn.

+++

A reminder: The list of set pieces are listed on the right hand side of the picture attached in the OP post.....and are listed as "things to check". They are grouped by which room they are in.

Any active player may use a token on any set piece in this game that hasn't had a token used on it before that moment(by themselves or another player).

+++

***Also to all: as of now the game is open***
(also part 2 in the section of the OP post titled "The Premise" has been added to to clarify some things on passing one's turn...i.e. when it can be done)

The currently active player is Lift, who has 24 hours or so(though sooner is of course better) to choose a "set piece"(thing to check) from the map in the OP post to spend their first token on.

After that I will post the result, and if it is not a fail or win result then Lift may then either pass his turn at that point or spend their second token.

In the meantime and all through the game, players(active and not active atm) may chat amongst themselves and roleplay and etc.

* Lifthrasil 'the early bird' is happy. The wardens are all gone. Taking a break or disappeared or whatever. That means, it is THAT time again. Time to do stuff. Time to find stuff. There is a reason, why 'the early bird' is always so chipper. Amphetamines. And other stuff. ... Stuff from the medical cabinet, taken when no one is looking. Well, no one is looking now. So Lifthrasil checks the medical cabinet in the entry lobby to the staff office.*

use token on medical cabinet, room 5

Lifthrasil: use token on medical cabinet, room 5
:(

You remember there are some chemicals and medicines in the staffe office, so you go there in the hopes that you will find something of use. One jar seems to stand out...it is labeled "Warning: Strong Acid!".

"Odd that that is there" you think to yourself, before wondering if maybe if can eat through the locks on one of the doors. You reach for it, but you somehow slip(maybe in the excitement of having found a possible means of escaype?) and knock into the cabinet, causing the jar to fall on you and break.....melting off various bits of your anatomy as you writhe in agony.

As this happens an invisible laugh is heard, as the acid eats away at the rest of you....as it imbued by magik.

You have failed
(Bad End)

-

OP note to Lift: Well you have been eliminated, sad to say. You cannot continue playing the game(spending tokens, etc), but you may still chat among the other players.....or even roleplay as a ghost or some such....if you so wish.

I also changed yer title in the OP post with a silly bit...probably will do that for each player.

Next up is: Dedo

"Hopefully he will have better luck...mwahaha" a weird disembodied voice says in a creepy and odd tone.

(I have PMd dedo to let them know it is now their turn)

Ouch!
I was thinking of looting the extra token off Lifthrasil's corpse but no way I'm getting close after seeing what the acid did. Especially after that description on the first post where I am probably going to die!

Sorry buddy, the RNG just hated you.
OW!

joppo: Sorry buddy, the RNG just hated you.
To clarify: in this game there is no RNG used for the token usage results, as I wanted to make the first game simple.....the outcomes for all the game's "set pieces" were pre written before the game started.
(each set piece is either a fail, a win, or nothing happens)

Also this game made me think of this family guy clip
(Content: Clip is peter reading a CYOA book in bed, and then trying to "cheat" by going back to the prior page to try again)

I actually knew that but I messed up expressing myself. I should have said that Fate or Fortune or any other "luck-power deity" hated him, but I picked the one that doesn't apply here.

If it's a deity we could name it RiNGo maybe. ;)

But that could lead to problems with Ringo's ring on Ringo's ringfinger!

Iirc, Ringo and his ring attracted some pretty bad luck(and also some good luck) in that film, so the name seems to fit perfectly wouldn't ya say? :)
So all items have preset results to them? Do we know anything about the chances of encountering a bad result (like the total number of bad items per room or on the whole map)?

Sorry Lifthrasil.
I hope I fare better but suddenly it doesn't look so easy...

Yes, all items have preset results.

(OP note to all: I toyed around with the idea of making some of the "set pieces" have random results/outcomes, but I decided against it for the first game)

As for the chances.....I don't wanna give everything away, but I will say that the chances of picking an item with a fail is under 1/3, and the chances of picking an item with a saved/win is a bit less than the chances of failing.

Btw, you have around 7 hours(give or take a few hours) from the time of this post to make your selection(i.e. to spend a token on a "set piece" on the map that wasn't picked already). If that isn't enough time, please lemme know and i'll consider an extension if needed. :)

Also a reminder: After said selection....if you get a "nothing(wasted token)" result....you will then be able to either pass your turn to the next player in the rotation or spend your second token.

Going by the amount of wins and how the game is set up, you and everyone else(well besides the puddle that was formerly Lift) still have a chance of winning the game. :)

Also thanks for pointing out a typo in my text.
(that one word should be IF in the bit you quoted)

OP note to all: Originally with less players, there was a chance that all players could've lost the game except one(an option I had toyed with called the sole survivor, which would've been that the last player not saved or eliminated might've won if RNG willed it). Since more players signed on(and I didn't want to turn anyone away, out of a sense of fairness), and since all players must play until they win or fail, it is now a certainty that some will win/survive.
