I voted cat for Pope initially because I thought there was no way a whole room full of people would ever vote for me, and cat was giving pretty high effort.

However, it was just my best guess, and I was just playing with the mechanic.

As I've already explained, I eventually figured out that Town can't actually win this way. If we elect a Town pope, it's an automatic loss for Mafia... ergo, they can't be pressure, bribed, or bullied into it. It's an automatic loss, so it can never happen. However... if we elect a Mafia pope, it's just as quickly automatically over and Mafia win instantly regardless of parity.

ergo, any concentrated, organized push by multiple people to elect one person as Pope must therefore be Mafia action.

Let's pretend that I'm right and I'm just some townie thinking trent is another townie (you know, just like scumreading a person and voting them, you can also townread and elect them) so I cast an elect vote. Then for some reason another person I townread also casts a vote on that same person because they townread them also (maybe because we are reading the same gamethread here?). And then a third person throws in the elect vote, because they are someone that likes being on any wagon with the most votes ;P

Okay. Lift's #370 is, hmm... it says the first election vote for Trent is mchack's, which I have suspicions he is scum, but not as certainly as Flocke who is not on his wagon. Catventurer is next on his election wagon, who at this point I strongly believe is Town. Bucktooth I'm not sure about.

But see, there's the beauty behind this wagon. There's three people on it besides Trent's self-vote, and as you yourself have established, most of us here didn't realize the catch behind the election mechanic until late, such as... when talking about the trent train.

It's also very likely that scum would elect a Catholic to make it appear as if this Catholic is actually a Reformer, to take advantage of someone like you calling it a slam dunk. I hope that's not really the case, that would mean we'd have an A-class scum team.



And in all cases, you don't even judge Trent on his own merits, but by the movements of other people. It is valid in a way, but I think it's missing a lot. And to be honest, even if you're right, I'm more convinced about Flocke first, mchack second.

ok, so you're unsure about this... fair enough. How about this: You just hammer yogsloth and find out for reals what has been going on?

I am not scum and I'm not sure how you got the Idea that I am. (yes I was on the farky wagon, but was just unsure if he is scum or town and not wanting to go to nolynch and then after the accuser investigation have the same wagon pop up again today. That would have been a worse outcome, so in that sense I still think it was the right choice, with the little time we had left)

But today things are different. This time my vote on yogsloth is not at all a "time is running out" thing, but I'm very, very sure that he is scum. I will gladly be the next lynch should I be wrong, because I'm pretty sure I'm not.

But by investigating yogsloth you get the answer. He thinks trent and I are scum and I think he, flocke and joppo are scum. By the way he flips we will have an easy time with the next lynch. I think nothing in hammering yogs is whilly nilly. It's not like he's a target chosen by some random chance, but by the way he acted today. And he collected all town votes but one by now (that's what I believe at least). It's not only me voting for yogs, you know?

Other than that, you make good points, again. As I am town, it would be rather stupid for me to go next in the unlikely case that yogs is town. But I really don't believe that will happen, at all.

So if indeed, yogs flips town, I will be so small with hat and hold back with accusations and will follow the lead of others when choosing who to lynch. I would have to reread the entire thread on where I went wrong, but I don't believe at all, that this will happen. But if indeed it does and since you want names it would probably be bucktooth since he is on yogs' scumlist.

If I really were scum do you think there's anyway I would get my scum buddies together and go "Ok guys we need to get one of us elected to win, they'll never see it coming!", hell no I wouldn't. As I stated earlier when people actually put votes to Elect me,:

You seriously think if I was scum I would push an election to win? It actually hurts my feelings a little bit that you would think that of me, that you think my scum game is so bad I would try something as basic as that. That's also what is confusing the shit out of me because you seem to be acting like you really believe I would do something like that, and I can't figure out how this is helping you if you are scum. Except that I feel that you are 100% town. Here's why:

I think I've mentioned before that my favorite role to play is..... vanilla townie. There comes a point in every game as a vanilla townie that you have to take a leap of faith and trust that the people you think are also town-aligned are just that. When you made that post telling me to not vote for myself, I felt you were making such a leap of faith with me..... and after I worked things out, I concluded that scum wouldn't do that.

1) There are 8 people left in the game that can vote: 3 scum, 5 townies.

2) Because it takes 5 to investigate, we have no extra people. It will require every townie to vote united in order to investigate scum. I will go so far as to say that if we are not united, we will lose the game.

3) On Day 4, it will take either 3 or 4 votes to investigate. If it takes 4 votes, scum team just needs to wait for one townie to misvote onto another townie, then they pill on. If it only takes 3, then they don't even need a townie misvote.

This is why I am confident that Trent is 100% town. Everyone likes to talk about how Trent is super smart and when scum, super dangerous. Scum actively want townies voting all over the place on other townies or themselves. Scum!Trent would not ask me to not vote for myself. He might not place a vote on me to keep a low profile, but he'd feel confident that my self-imploding would prevent townies from getting the 5 votes needed to eliminate scum.

My Elect Trent wasn't a serious attempt to get him elected. It is entirely a statement that "yes, I am willing to take that leaf of faith and believe you are 100% town" statement.

Mchack, Pooka, Buck - I feel that they are town, just not as confident with them as I am with Trent.


Yog likes to post up the final vote counts for Day 1 and Day 2, but he doesn't want to post the vote counts for Day 3 because then everyone would notice all the scum players + Pooka not voting with the town:

@Flocke: the game ends, when either a pope is Elected or one side controls the investigations.
That means at equal numbers the Reformers would win, if they still have the Accuser. Without the Accuser they need a majority to win.
I.e. your example of 3 vs 3 would be a win for the Reformers, because they could block the investigation and the Accuser could have the Catholics investigated.
