Hi, everyone. Welcome to GOG Mafia game #82!
This is a game of Forum Mafia. Please don't post here unless you've been directed here from the sign up thread or PM, or were otherwise told by the mod that you should post here. Exception: anyone, including dead players and non-players, may make a bump post if a player asks for it here or in the admin thread. You may also use an alt-user to make a bump post. The bump post should contain no game-relevant information.
Direct any queries you may have to the the General Discussion and Administration page or to me via PM.
Rules:
1. I, Lifthrasil, am the moderator for this game. If you have any issues or questions, contact me via PM.
2. Cryptoclaiming is forbidden. In short, cryptoclaiming is having people claim in some sort of, preferably nearly unbreakable, code, which makes it all but impossible for the Mafia team to win.
3. Betting among players is strictly forbidden.
4. Real Life issues and situations should and will always take priority over what happens in the game. If a player presents a real life issue as a reason on why they need a bit more time or are temporarily unavailable to partake normally in the game that reason should be accepted and respected by everyone else (including the mod). Everyone should always treat real life problems/situations in a gentlemanly manner and never try to make accusations or gain leverage in the game based on that. If these issues become too overwhelming the incapacitated player should inform their mod and ask for a replacement as soon as possible or if they are unable to do so the mod should take steps in finding a replacement for them. Everyone should be playing the game for fun and treat each other with the necessary respect. Therefore we shall always assume that every real life reason for inefficient participation in the game is 100% real and has to be taken as such. We shall also count on everyone playing the game to show proper respect and sportsmanship to their fellow players and the mod by never abusing this "free pass". If someone is caught taking advantage of everyone's good will they will be immediately allowed to find another place to play forum mafia.
5. This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win (see also Rule 2). An exception to this are Real Life issues, as per Rule 3.
With that in mind, you might want to avoid sensitive topics, ones which would benefit from having all the participants telling the truth, till after the game is finished. For instance, someone swearing on their mother's life and/or other similar acts which in most cases are effectively equivalent to showing your PM wouldn't be tolerated and will be swiftly and harshly punished.
6. Have fun and enjoy the game. While shouting at each other is expected in a game of Mafia, please remain civil to your fellow players. If you become too personal or too offensive, I may take actions reaching from warnings to exclusion from the game
7. Please bold any questions you have for me and refer to me by name or anything that will make it clear that your question is directed to me, so it's easier for me to see them. You may use bold for other reasons (like stressing a point) but please avoid doing so excessively.
8. DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS!
9. I repeat: Do not edit your posts for any reason!! Remember there is a forum feature that automatically merges posts made within 10 minutes. There is also a forum bug which prevents your post from appearing sometimes when it should appear on a new page. Making a second post in this case after less than 10 minutes can cause your post to be merged and appear edited. For best results either wait for another post to appear after your last one or wait for the timestamp on your last post to say at least "11 minutes ago".
11. You are expected to make a post at least once every 48 hours. If you need to be away for longer, please let me know in advance. Posting more frequently makes for a more interesting game. So try to participate as much as you can.
12. PM sharing and/or asking others to share/confirm wording from their PMs is forbidden. Paraphrasing is allowed. When in doubt about something you plan to do related to PMs ask me first.
13. If you do something intentionally in a way that goes against the spirit of the game, you will be penalized. When in doubt, ask me first.
14. Breaking rules, depending on the severity of the infraction, can get you mod-killed at my discretion. Getting mod-killed can be hazardous to your health and it means you lose regardless of whether your team wins or loses. You will also be excluded from the game. No stump for you. It's bad in general, so please don't get mod-killed.
42. You have to read the rules before playing.

Conclave Mafia Rules
Open, Mountainous, Nightless, Deathless
The Conclave has been infiltrated by Reformers, who want to abolish Popedom. The Conclave has to ELECT one new Pope unanimously. If the Pope is a Reformer, Popedom is abolished and the Reformers win. If the Pope is Catholic, the Catholics win.
No one can leave the conclave, until a decision is made. But everybody has dirty laundry. No one present at the Conclave is actually morally fit to be an Elector.
Everybody, next to the Pope election vote, can VOTE to have one participant investigated. When a majority is reached, that player is investigated and henceforth excluded from voting. Faction alignment is revealed, but also all the dirty secrets that make everyone present actually unfit to vote - or be voted for. Investigated players remain in the game and can participate in discussions, but they may not vote or be voted into office. In effect, they are stumps.
Everyone HAS to ELECT one player at any time. Self election is allowed and is the default.
Terminology:
ELECT Hyper = Pope election vote. All active Electors have to agree.
you’ll start with an ELECT on yourself. You can’t unelect, just ELECT someone new.
VOTE bookwyrm = investigation vote; investigation occurs, once majority is reached.
Then votes are reset and the game continues without Night phase. You can UNVOTE, but a new VOTE will take precedence over the previous.
Balance:
7/3 Catholic/Reformers. Reformers have a Day Chat (secret sign language).
Roles:
One Messenger (any faction) - can send one message to one player per Phase
One Prankster (any faction) - can place one prank article per phase on any players seat
One Oneshot Sprayer (any faction) - can secretly spray a message on the wall
One Accuser (Reformer) - selects who is investigated if the deadline is reached
Deadline:
There will be a deadline for the investigation vote. If that is reached without majority, the Accuser chooses secretly whom to investigate, as long as he is active. He can be advised in this by his colleagues in the faction chat. If the Accuser is made inactive, the deadline investigation choice becomes random.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sample PMs:
Catholic:
You are Cardinal XY, a devout catholic. You are allowed to ELECT a new Pope and you will do your best that the new Pope is a catholic like you. Unfortunately you know that there are some dastardly Reformers among the Conclave but you don’t know who they are. But you can VOTE to have one player investigated. By the Conclave rules, no one can leave the Conclave until an unanimous ELECTION has been reached. However, if serious doubt on the moral integrity of a member of the Conclave arises, that member can be excluded from the Election.
Win conditions: ELECT a catholic Pope or exclude all Reformers by INVESTIGATION
Reformer:
You are Cardinal XY, an idealistic Reformer. You are allowed to ELECT a new Pope and you will do your best, that the new Pope is a Reformer like you. Then you can abolish this antiquated and unjust office! Unfortunately you Reformers are in the minority. But you can VOTE to have one player investigated. By the Conclave rules, no one can leave the Conclave until an unanimous ELECTION has been reached. However, if serious doubt on the moral integrity of a member of the Conclave arises, that member can be excluded from the Election. And not one of these catholic cardinals has any moral integrity! So you will be able to revoke their election rights by investigating them.
Faction Chat: you have a Day Chat. Here’s the link [link].
Win conditions: ELECT a Reformer Pope or exclude all Catholics by INVESTIGATION
(or reach a point where these conditions are unavoidable)
Role:
You are a [Role]. You can [do stuff] once per VOTING phase. Once an investigation occurs, your power is renewed. But once you are excluded, you’ll be placed on the sidelines and be unable to perform your Role.
