trentonlf: Maybe we get lucky and they are scum, but the chances are higher that they are not.
Exactly this. Now this player is you and you are being active, so no need to go that route. Randomness!

avatar
trentonlf: , we are still losing their vote and that is what's most important in the end.
Silver lining being we still get their insight and input into the game afterward. Sitll you making good points.
Lynch did exactly what I was hoping for.
1. Substituted the inactive for Trent
2. Extended the deadline.

That's so much better than giving scum team a freebie elimination.

avatar
bucktoothgamer: I thought sanewashing was going to go on the list of Mafia terms I didn't know, to find out it's actually related to journalism...huh

In all reality I do hope you feel better Cat even if you think I'm scum
I was running a fever and just picked the word that I felt best described what I thought of your post - that you were normalizing Farky wanting to eliminate an inactive. However saying that, you're only Diet Scum.... Just one calorie, not scum enough for me to gather a lynch mob and go after you when others are giving off Big Scum Energy.

avatar
trentonlf: Right now I am leaning toward FarkyTheDog, him trying to justify removing someone that has given ZERO information because it's the easiest thing to do rubs be wrong.
If a wagon starts to build against Farky, I'll move my vote.
However it looks like Micro is up to 4 votes thus I'm staying put for now.

Okay, I'm going back to listening to the John Williams concert that was on PBS with my cat.
I'd say that he's my cat's favorite movie composer.

I'm surprised you're still on West's wagon seeing as I am also being on it. Think a scum me would bus a buddy so early? Something more to add to my mEmO perhaps.

Points for having the good taste.
avatar
Catventurer: Yes, it is. You're saying that we should not give Lift the option to substitute in someone else to replace the inactive person. Also as I said previously, eliminating someone on the basis of being inactive is giving scum team a pass. Nobody has to explain their vote on Day 2 so it's just Day 1 repeated. Town gains nothing for it.

You're behaving like Micro when I said that he was obfuscating other people's motives for voting or not voting.... Except that you're doing it in relation to giving mafia a free pass.

If I had to guess on who Mafia #3 is, probably Bucktooth. Post #99 looks like sanewashing to me.

-----

Side Note - feel only slightly better than yesterday, still have a fever headache; took my socks off as I don't feel like I'm going to freeze to death... going to take a nap after breakfast
I hope you feel better very soon!

Joppo seems to be strongly scumhunting in his post earlier today.

So he is therefore town who is actually playing, or mafia
reading him as Leans town (wouldn't be surprised if he is scum.)

We all know that the heretic scum team has day chat. Lift (moderator) said so in the first post.

Your scum pals probably told you that once I make a serious vote against someone, I tend to just leave my vote there and only change it if things move in a different direction. I change my vote to prevent no lynches, not cause them.... So I think you're trying to dirty me up by manipulating me into vote changing towards the end of Day 1. No, I don't think this is about saving Micro. You're trying to set me up to be eliminated for some reason.

This is where I skip the shovels memes and go directly to excavator memes. See attached image.

As already stated via PM, please return to the game! We're all out of substitutes, so if you can't play, I'll have to remove you from the game completely. Unless I can find a substitute in some other forum who is willing to step in. So if you can play, please do so immediately. And if you can't play, please say so ASAP!

supplementscene: No, I'm voting for you because your early behaviour in your wagon building seemed scummy and not analytical.
avatar
PookaMustard: Are you deliberately reading things out of context to try and build a wagon on me? What that "you're" in the post you quoted is very clear when put in its original context: anyone saying "Investigate zeogold" or whoever. How did you get from "Lift said this, so in other words it means anyone voting is..." to "Lift said this, so in other words what scene is doing is..."?

I really very much do not appreciate you twisting my words to get an easy D1 exclusion. That's just like a very scum thing to do.

avatar

PookaMustard: HMMMMMM... I mean the game before we all took our Christmas and New Year break was "RANDOM VOTING STAGE THE GAME" and after I returned it still was "RANDOM VOTING STAGE THE GAME" so I figured why not roll with it? Somehow that makes me seem "way more scummy", which is something I don't get........ but let's be fair, twisting my words into another context than the one presented is something I just can't get over.
Wait you put a 3rd vote and it sounded like a serious pick. How is that "RANDOM VOTING STAGE THE GAME"? This seems dishonest, Have I mistaken you making a RVSV? I could have done but I don't think I have
NOTE: I have a problem reading GOG forum because text is so small so I may miss things

trentonlf: Hello everyone! I have never played a setup like this before, but I find it very cool that even after someone is voted out they can still participate in discussions, just no voting. This should be a lot of fun! I am sad to have missed the start of the game so I could give yogs a hard time, but being so close to deadline I will just say yogs if you are scum I will hate you till the end of time because you as scum still scares the bejezzus out of me.

I have been following the game thankfully, so I will do my best not to hold things up.

supplementscene: Sorry I haven't posted I've been sick as a dog. So here's me checking in. Micro has 3 votes. Pooka put the third vote on Microfish. This strikes me as opportunistic wagon building.

VOTE POOKA
avatar
trentonlf: This was early on in the game, and rarely does any train this early have any hope of actually getting anywhere, yet you have Pooka as being opportunistic wagon building, why push something like that so early in the game, and why not say something about Bucktooth doing the same two posts later putting Pooka at 3 votes at that time too? Are you tunneling on Day 1 again?

Vote North
avatar
trentonlf: NO NO NO. You want to know what is the easiest way to give scum a victory? Handing them lynches they don't have to work for. If we remove someone like that we gain almost no information. Maybe we get lucky and they are scum, but the chances are higher that they are not.

avatar
Catventurer: The odds are that the inactive player is not on scum team. If we eliminate on the basis that they're inactive, we're doing two things that I dislike more than the inactive player even being there:
1. Scum team gets a freebie elimination.
2. It removes the moderator's ability to substitute in a replacement for the inactive person.

Although I'm really sick here, I can still rationally understand why using Day 1 to eliminate an inactive player is just all around bad. We should let the moderator decide what to do with the inactive because that's part of what the moderator does. So what's your excuse for not understanding this?

Because your vote in Post #87 for the inactive player is a worthless vote, especially this close to the Day 1 deadline. The fact that you're still pushing for everyone to go this route in Post #95 only makes you look scumtastic.

Scum Team: Microfish, FarkyTheDog, ???
avatar
trentonlf: I really like this post, and I am putting Cat in my Town slot, It will be hard for me to move her out of there as I have found her to be the most consistent Town vibe so far.

I am also concerned that Pooka and Scene are doing the Town on Town thing on Day 1 that is going to be a distraction into later Day's if that's true. I have gone over both of their posts and I am not getting any big Scum vibes from either so far.

avatar
yogsloth: Investigate microfish
avatar
trentonlf: Reasons??

avatar
bucktoothgamer: Normally I would agree with this logic(no matter how newbie unfriendly it is), but in this game the fear of losing an active participant to lynch is lessened as they can still contribute to the discussion after the fact. That's not to say that some people might disappear right after they are investigated as it can happen, but with these rules I feel we can vote with our gut feelings a little bit more as those who are committed to the game the whole way through can still help out if voted off.
avatar
trentonlf: Just because someone can still participate even if lynched does not justify lynching someone anyway. That is giving scum a way out "Hey, I voted them because they can still participate even if voted out", we are still losing their vote and that is what's most important in the end.

Right now I am leaning toward FarkyTheDog, him trying to justify removing someone that has given ZERO information because it's the easiest thing to do rubs be wrong.

This is a fantastic analytical post, I do like it. The only thing that makes me suspicious is that you ask if I'm tunneling. As if you are assuming I am Town. So you either read me as Town or you are Scum and know that I am Town.

But then I ask would you do that to defend a Scumbuddy, who was Scummy. You actually took the opposite track when we were scumbuddies and bussed me. But perhaps I was way more scummy than Pooka is right now. Losing a team memeber early is not ideal though.

As I said, I found both of you to be leaning Town so I was concerned that this was a Town on Town finger pointing situation going on and the last thing we need is that because scum loves to hide behind walls like that. As for the tunneling comment, I find you tend to do this most games when you're Town, you tunnel on someone early and that's your main focus. We have done this to each other so many times in past games. If I have read you or Pooka wrong, well then I just hope it is not something that costs us the game in the long run, but I also am trying to stop second guessing myself early in games because I tend to do that too much.

What are you thoughts on FarkyTheDog?

The purple velvet curtains, that are covering not only the windows but the entire wall, are consequently drawn back. But what is that? There, between the curtains, there is a message spray painted to the wall in a quaint, funny font. Cheerful music drifts in through the windows from the market square, where a fair is being held, with rides and shows and all. The bread reads:

"West for Pope! He is kind, loyal, courageous, handsome and cunning! Plus, he has a pointy hat! Truly no one is better for the job! (He also happens to be Catholic.) He has all of the Cardinal Virtues required, and none of the Unholy Vices! Further, he happens to like model trains and would convert this office to have a model train layout so we could play with Lionel & K-Line trains while debating! Unlike some Cardinals, he does not have Bird Flu! He probably hates suet, so there is also that! He's lived in town all his life! He recommends that all Cardinals participate in the new fad: a Diet of Worms! Under his leadership all debts will be canceled and the stock market will go up 10 points a day!

Fine I'll play ball.

Microfish votes me with his pointy hat and also talks about how he's a Protestant IRL. I see his voting me and it doesn't concern me one bit nor it raises any alarms, so I vote him back with a whimsy, flimsy excuse as "protestant in our ranks" and "Italian Mafia", because well... bear with me for a moment...

It's RVS. It is literally RVS.

I don't even remember checking how many votes Micro has gathered because if it's RVS, then there's just no majority to push someone into an investigation, and getting a majority to vote on any one thing is a Pain in the Ass. Seeing as how we're on the second to final day (you know, higher stakes) and already we don't have a consensus on who to vote into an investigation already strengthens my point.

I don't think I'll be able to change your perception of my behavior given that you twisting how I phrased my post is already too sus by my standards, though.

Elect Microfish

Anyone that can get that whole message out in one can of spray paint gets my vote!

In all seriousness though, an interesting tactic that I would assume came from someone anti-West more so that pro-west. Since they are leading the investigation vote right now(if my mental math is mathing) and I doubt an action like this would pull investigation votes away from them.
