It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Goodaltgamer: - offenses to carry a ban: (my suggestion a 2 - 3 step list)
1. racial slurs, hate speech, scamming (with just 1 offense)
All slurs should be bannable when used against another user; this includes words like "faggot" and "tranny", which target LGBT people.

(Note that I make a distinction between mentioning the words, as I am doing in this pots, and actually using the words.)

JMich: You actually propose a paywall to post in the General Discussion forum. Not an extra hurdle.
I wonder if one could find stats on how many users do not use the Steam forums due to the extra "Choose a nickname" step it has (or did they remove that?). That was a simple hurdle, yet it still discouraged people from posting their questions.
Yes, which in no way should impact the users ability to buy games from GOG.
For my money, If we could just get asshats like Tauto, Regals, and ciomalau (among others) to stop harassing people (and by that I mean following them around and launching into everything they posts) then there would be no need for this thread or a CM period. We don't even need to censor them or boot them, just give them there own thread, that way, if I ask someone about a mod or a game review I don't have to worry about the first three replies being "You fuck children one ball."

They are welcome to post that, just keep it in their own thread. :D
Sorry double post.

EDIT: I'll make the most of it.

Goodaltgamer: To cut a bit in and some extra information ;)

All forums are handled the same way. So to implement your idea would mean a major work on the side of GOG, they would need to overhaul the complete forum to just implement this. They would need to extract the general forum (what about the other language forums by the way?) put them up in a different way and and and ;)

EDIT: not judging on your idea ;)
If it's truly that difficult for it to be implemented, a gate on a single subforum, I withdraw my suggestion.

I don't intend to prevent people from going into individual game subforums, or the Support subforum I suggested, and asking for help to solve their problems. Be it for the free games that come with the account, or how to use the site.

In that case though something else must be thought of, otherwise banning people becomes what I said, merely a self-congratulatory song and dance that doesn't solve anything.

phaolo: In that case, I'd demand for my rep to be restored asap >:P
avatar
JMich: Why? The thought I had was for a user to be able to modify a number of posts each day equal to his stars, or if that was deemed as too low, say 1 post per day for every 100 rep. How often do you wish to uprep/downrep multiple posts per day?
Having anything important depend on rep is not a good idea, as it has been abused.
Just give me the function to ignore.

This place doesn't need a CM. The asylum ran itself pretty well until the GOGbear circlejerkers roosted and the whining intensified.

"Rep is meaningless, but I now have negative rep *cry cry cry*"

Unfortunate yes, trying to think of an easy example:
Let's imagine on your own PC running windows:
You have only ONE user registered the admin.
Now you add users with restricted access. They shall now be able to run the prior installed games.
Will not work, you need to manually alter all directories and registry to make them accessible to the new users.

It is only a rough equivalent but you might get the idea ;)

Plus when GOG reads it MAYBE they will have an idea as they know their system better ;)

Goodaltgamer: I do like that GOG allows those extra-scripts, but themselves implementing it. *shudders*
I agree. I don't understand much the need to hide other users' posts in a public forum (ok, except for those few harassers).
After using such feature for a while, all the discussions would become a mess due to the skipped posts.
People who really need this should just talk in chat..
lol, community manager that does something. *holds breath*

What if someone has a faggot of sticks?
Ops..

Are you trying to ban yourself permanently? :-P
So where's Konrad gone? He seemed like an ok dude, even if he didn't change the forum.
I'm so confused.

So anything with a bone I'm allowed to pick up and eat with my hands.

Well fish has bones in it, but something tells me if I pick up this piece of salmon and shove it in my pie hole I'm never going to be invited back here.
Welcome again to Fables! I'll be the Watson to your Sherlock. :P

I do think the rep system needs to go or get revamped. I'm hesitant to participate in some threads because of losing rep or a few people are just arguing back and forth.

I know it might be difficult, but I do think I would like more sub-categories for general chat. Threads I would be interested in often are lost to me amidst the sea of threads.
