cal74: Hi,

I started this thread with the idea to promote the addition of a new baseball game on GOG (see below) but then it just stroke me that we were really in lack of good old sports games on GOG.

Since I'm not willing to start GOSG.com and the people at GOG are doing at pretty good job at bringing us old games, I think it would be nice that all sports games lover say a little word here to let GOG know that there is a market for those (at least I hope so :) ).

Below, the original post:
---------------------------------
Although I already have way too many games on GOG, I really feel that one genre which is currently under-represented is the sports games. I know that EA and 2K producing most of the new sport games on PC (when they make a PC version, that is) and licensing issues may get in the way but this one might be a good contender for next sport game on GOG:

Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/super_mega_baseball_extra_innings

Any links to other sport games in the wishlist are welcome.

Edit: promoting the support for more sports games on GOG ;)

Edit2: Games listing (updated with links to games descriptions)

I liked the Tony Hawk pro skating games :) Not sure which ones came to the PC as that was mostly a console-exclusive series :)

Agreed, the sports genre is something gog has very little of. Voted.

All of the main ones came to PC except Tony Hawk's Skateboarding, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Tony Hawk's Ride, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground and of course Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.

Tony Hawk's Underground 1 was a bit of a weird one in that it was developed for PC but only released as a budget title in Australia. It's extremely rare - I saw someone selling an imported copy in a games store in Dortmund a few years ago, but the greedy arsehole wanted €250 for it.

Sadly, the chances of ever seeing these games on GOG are slim-to-none, given that Tony Hawk's contract with Activision expires this year.

Because most sports games are licensed with all kinds of licenses to hell and back and they are limited licenses as is the case with our version of Colin McRae.

Sadly I don't think you guys getting those here will be easy or even possible as i've heard Activision is going to let their Tony Hawk licence expire at the end of this month I think.

But yeah, the early Tony Hawk games we're amazing. I loved just experimenting in the levels.

Dude THPS was awesome, and most of the games came to PC I think! I had THPS 2 - 4 on PC myself.

Shame they're presumably such a legal flustercuck because I think they'd sell very well again.

Indeed, though some of those listed may not have that problem.

According to Wikipedia, six of the eight games so far have been released for Windows - Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, 3, 4, Underground, Underground 2, and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Only Tony Hawk Pro Skater (1) was not, nor have the fifth game in the main series been released for PC (yet?).

Edit: Ninja'd.

If you could get Sega on board, most of their earlier PC sports games (with the exception of Virtua Tennis) are likely to be unencumbered in terms of licences. The Sega Rally games, Sega Worldwide Soccer and Sega Bass Fishing all used fictitious brands and names.

Cinemaware's TV Sports titles are similarly unencumbered, and Amiga-emulated versions are already available on Steam (good thing too, as the DOS versions were pretty appalling). GOG did have a thing going with Cinemaware, what happened there?

Epyx's sports games are also unencumbered to the best of my knowledge.

And those ones with Windows versions are pretty much all the good ones, not a huge loss not having Windows versions of THPS 1 and American Wasteland imo.
