Hey everyone!

I just wanted to give you a quick heads-up that both DOOM (1993) and DOOM II will be unavailable in our store for 3 hours today (August 8th), from 4 PM UTC to 7 PM UTC.

But there’s no need to worry! We suspect that the Doomguy has some demon-killing to do (hence he being away for those 3 hours), but both titles will return!

That’s it, hope you are all having a great week so far :)

P.S. Let’s use this thread to share your favorite track from any DOOM game OST – I’ll start with a classic:

Bethesda will update both today.

I hope for some fixes (BUT only if will be still compatible with all vanilla add-ons!!)

I'm sure that another add-on is coming today

Better back up those offline installers, just in case Bethesda breaks anything.

"Untitled" by Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails, apparently it was used in the leaked 2002 Alpha Demo of Doom III:

A heads up is fine. An explanation why, even better and a lot more professional. Relying on your customers to provide an explanation or speculation....not very professional.

So the response is as much effort:
Thanks....I suppose

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think that Doom or Doom II need any further updates. Keep the classics as they are.

Modernized features like client-integration, new multiplayer services, achievements, or engine "upgrades" will only ramp up the system requirements and break compatibility with established source ports like gzdoom. Soon you'll need a Bethesda account and Windows 11 to play a 30 year old game. :-(
We'll be getting a new episode soon.

I believe the Steam page can show you what to expect...

Also, Doomworld thread for more discussion.

So… I'm a bit paranoid since the Wolfenstein SoD inofficial missionpack removal…

This does not mess with the classic versions, only with the enhanced ones, right?
They removed the FormGen mission packs? That sucks, even if everybody hates them, they're a historical part of the game. Edit: apparently they were briefly removed when Wolf 3D and SOD were combined, but then added back in a bit later.

Anyways I trust the Nightdive developers, which are involved in this (KEX Engine is theirs after all) to have kept the original Doom exes and wads intact. In case you didn't know, they're big Doom fans.

I don't trust them anymore. I believe that one of the is a Doom fan. The other one I'm thinking about is only a fan of himself.
