So, in 2 weeks, I have to stay at the hotel for some business stuff (sounds like I'm a drug dealer ^o^). Thing is that the hotel I booked is in a fact a part of a casino so instead of hanging in the local bars as I usually do, I will rather spend the evening there. I'll only come in with 20-30€ so the goal will be to stay longest as possible instead of "burning" everything in less than 10 minutes. So, outside poker (too many different rules/styles) which games are the most enjoyable in the long run and how to make them last? I liked blackjack in videogames when I was younger.

black jack will be your best bet. make sure you know the house and table rules. And if you for some reason win a lot: walk away.

Don't gamble, play video game gambling instead, the offline version, not online where you bet real money.

True, most slots are meant to give an avg of 80% back over a certain play time.

Don't know about land based ones, but for online ones the range of RTP (return to player) goes 90-98%. And even if the house gets only that 2% it's still a shit load of money.

Try the poker table. At least it's fun even if you lose.

(this is in addition to what others said about setting a side a fixed amount and leaving when you lose that).

20-30 Euro isn't much to last on. Most table games at respectable casinos in Vegas have a $5 minimum bet, and I'd wager that this particular casino is probably pretty similar. Unless you start off really hot, 20-30 euro will last maybe 5-10 minutes at most live tables, maybe even less if you don't really know what you're doing.

Poker is also out of the question, as the cheapest live poker table you are likely to find will have a $1-2 blind structure and a minimum buy-in of 50bb ($100). Also, if your bankroll is that tiny and you are dealt AA on your first hand and go all-in as you should, you could easily be bust in less than 5 minutes.

With that small a budget and no experience with game rules and odds, I think you're best sticking with the cheapest slots/video machine you can find, and really savoring the atmosphere and taking your time between each coin insertion.

Here is what to do instead of gambling that will save you the money and yet give you the exact same sensations.

1) Go out in into the desert and find a rock a that has been sitting out in the sun for a long time; one that is REALLY hot and preferably jagged.

2) Stick that rock up your ass.

3) After several moments of unfathomable pain and agony remove the rock from your ass and take a deep breath.

4) Go find another really hot/jagged rock and stick it up your ass, constantly saying to yourself, "Maybe this one will feel different."

Slots are actually often one of the worst in terms of house edge, and a 20% house advantage is actually an enormous edge. Slots require no skill to play, and thus are usually the best bet for casino noobs who don't know how to play properly in other games. However, many of the other games require a moderate amount of skill/practice and a large bankroll to keep the odds closer. So for someone with a tiny bankroll/budget and no experience, super cheap slots would be the best place to try to extend your play time, even if they give the worst odds for skilled players.

If you have a large enough bankroll, like minimum 200 bets, preferably 500+ bets, you can play blackjack till the cows come home. Playing perfect basic strategy on a blackjack table with typical rules you can get the house edge down to about 0.5%. If you can successfully count cards and can vary your wager amounts without detection you can actually gain a 1-3% edge against the house. This is why they don't like card counters.

I know back when I visited Vegas, I spent my time with the lowest stakes video poker I could find. So my suggestion would be something similar. If you are decent at blackjack or a particular style of poker, find a video version as the ante will be less than live tables. The house cut is generally much smaller on those games than slots assuming reasoably skillful play.
