Fenixp: Eldritch and Tower of Guns are both darn good, albeit a fair bit different - do any of the others listed compare favourably to them? And yeah, it's probably my favourite sub-genre of roguelites. Thanks for the list, by the way.
Eldritch and ToG are probably the best on that list. Heavy Bullets is quite nice, but demands a much more careful approach (you have 1 gun with 6 bullets, you need to pick up the bullets again after you have shoot them...), fancy skulls is comparable to Binding of Isaac. Ziggurat shows promise, but feels a little bit empty at the moment. Delver is quite nice (the only one on the list more traditional first person dungeon crawler), but the rest is a bit hit and miss depending on taste. I liked them all, though. Gentrive 2, particularly, is an interesting game, Phr00t wanted to make a first person metroidvania.
Leroux: What are your criteria for a rogue-like / rogue-lite and how strict are they? I guess the following might not really fit in that definition, but at least they seem to meet the criterion of randomly generated First Person environments:
- Receiver
- Paranormal
hmm.... how I see it is that it needs to be randomly generated, have perma-death and some form item management with drops. I have not really tried Receiver yet, but I feel Paranormal is more a horror / puzzle / exploration game than a rougelike.
NoNewTaleToTell: Delver on the other hand I fully recommend it. It looks great, sounds great and has satisfying gameplay, I'd love to see it here on GOG eventually.
it is also DRM free already (via Humble)
NoNewTaleToTell: Depths of Fear:: Knossos is a new-ish (released earlier this year) first person roguelike based on an old Greek story. It's got great atmosphere but I can't say I fully recommend it. Combat has no feel nor feedback, the animations are a bit silly and it's rough around all of it's edges. Plus it has the annoying "feature" of "here is a trap that will kill the player if they step on it but tricking a boss into running onto the trap will have no effect on the boss because it isn't the preplanned (and only) way to defeat them".
Cheers, did not know about this one. Will put it on my "to try list" :)
JudasIscariot: Rogue Shooter's page says "Coming Soon" so I am not sure if that one is released :)
As Gragar says, it is out already. Seems that they abandoned updating their own website as soon as they got a Steam page.... anyway....
