My first game bought on GOG was Unreal Gold.

Cadaver747: Interesting, so you did not buy anything for more than a year since your initial registration, hmm.
Yeah. I didn't had Paypal back then.
Flashback to July 2010.

My first order placed was to get Evil Genius. Which sadly turned out to be a shit game.

I also got [same order] Lords of Magic (even though I already had it on disc). I had fond enough memories of the game and it was enjoyed to play again. Also Lords of the Realm 1+2, and 3 (which I don't think was as fun as 2 for me). Also in there were the Empire Earth games (which I played and couldn't find myself getting into as much as other similar games) and Republic the Revolution (since removed from the catalog) that I played and enjoyed.

April of the next year, yes, 9 months until the next purchase, found me getting Space Rangers (which I didn't like), UFO (which I also didn't like), Fantasy Wars (which I ALSO didn't like) and Kings Bounty: The Legend, which I played a lot and really enjoyed. Never did finish a play though! Order also contained Far Cry, which I didn't like as much as 2 (because of check-point saves).

Cadaver747: I see, I'm not into point'n'click adventure games myself, FPS is my jam,

Cadaver747: I still have great memories about great joy playing and completing Sanitarium, Beneath a Steel Sky, Full Throttle, Loom (EGA & VGA), Leisure Suit Larry 1: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards and of course The Legend of Kyrandia.
Same but reversed. :D

I like point and clicks and open world rpgs, not really into fps or any other shooter games. In many open world games shooting is the necessary evil if you want to get to the rpg stuff, but I don't really play pure shooters. Well, except for Far Cry 3-6, Borderlands 1-3, Bioshock 1-Infinite, Sniper Elite V2-4, Uncharted 1-4... I even liked Medal of Honor when it first came and I played COD:WWII as well. But other than that, no shooters. Ok, maybe some Wolfenstein and Doom... but I am not really an fps kind of guy.

Cadaver747: Kyrandia games were my favorite until Malcom's Revenge, I can't stand it, they ruined one of the most interesting and intriguing character on so many levels, and you can't even play evil if you choose to play evil, preposterous!
Oh yes, Malcolm's Revenge is the weakest of them. Kinda ruined the series. I don't know why they went with this direction. Playing the evil jester could have been an interesting thing if done right.
My first game was Terraria, got it cuz I wanted to play this amazing games friends showed me, I didn't have a steam acc but I didn't want DRM so I went with Gog with recommendation of the site.
The first one I gave money for was Grim Dawn + Ashes of Malmouth + Crucible - 30.37€ on October 16th, 2017.

I had been playing the pirated version for like a year or two and was specifically looking into how to obtain the game legally because of how much I enjoyed it. Steam was out of the question but then I remebered GOG. I've had some free games on GOG from a year earlier (thus my registration date) and when I found out that it was on GOG, that was it. Oh and finally getting a card capable of internet payments definitely helped too.

GOG is still the only place where I buy digital games. I don't even have a payment method added on Steam or anywhere else. Even then, I have like a 100 games on Steam but all of them are either boxes that needed to be registered there or freebies.

On GOG, currently sitting at 518 games in library.

System Shock 2
First actual paid purchase, the Might and Magic bundle, Dec 18, 2013, $6.96, since they had just added Paysafecard and I finally had a way to purchase. And it's mostly still waiting there ever since. I mean, on the one hand, making up for the "pirated" copy of 6 I had played and finished and really liked years earlier, and also tried 7 back then but gave up soon. Out of what I purchased, just tried 1, poking at it a little bit on and off until 2015, but not reinstalling in April 2015 when I got this computer, the lack of free saving made it clear I wasn't actually going to play it. Still mean to try 3 and WoX though, and maybe give 7 another go, and eventually also see about 8, but when or if that'll ever happen, no idea.

First game grabbed other than what was free for all was Empire Earth Gold Edition, Dec 12, 2011, when it was a temporary freebie. Started then, gave up a month later. Played the campaigns in an older setting, already struggling by the end of the one where firearms are introduced, but once I got to the World War campaign, I banged my head against it for a while and then gave up, did the expansion's first campaign, then reached WW setting there too and after a bit more of banging head fruitlessly I gave up for good. I do poorly with RTSs in general, but when you also add a modern setting, no way. And I hate modern settings in themselves.

First game that wasn't quite free for all, Realms of Arkania 1+2, for filling a survey, Sep 24, 2012. Never touched it. Meant to at some point, but too wary of the trappings of the time.

First game that wasn't at all a mass freebie, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, Sep 26, 2013, with a code for a $9.99 game won in the 5th anniversary contest. Got Wizard's Throne as well, on Oct 3, with another such code. Played (and reviewed - WT / SM) both.
First game I got here was Simon The Sorcerer.

Still makes me laugh, when Simon puts the ladder in his hat! Where else could a tall ladder fit inside a hat??? ( :

Cadaver747: I can't say about original Fallout trilogy but as far as I know both Fallout 1 & 2 classic from Interplay are censored (e.g. no kids in town), so the only major difference is Fallout Bible and some other stuff in goodies. I always play Fallout 1 with FixIt community patch with a bit of *restored* content (not much). Also I don't recall seeing Bethesda logo on their re-released Fallout games, maybe I was not paying attention.
I wouldn't know for sure, and honestly wouldn't mind if they put "Made in Bethesda" all over it, I just can't stand buying inferior or incomplete versions. Even if that makes me pay more in the end. I guess I would take the bait if it was some sort of mail code for the classic trilogy deal, but otherwise it seems I'd have to wait and see if they add the patch and manage to get all extras approved.

Cadaver747: There are indeed some legal issues, original Duke Nukem games were developed by Apogee/3D Realms and 3rd party games were produced by them as well but the IP rights to Duke Nukem franchise were sold to Gearbox in order to get away from 2K suing the company for delaying Duke Nukem Forever, that was their biggest mistake (the second biggest was helping with selling Gathering of Developers to Take Two / 2K). So now Gearbox owns the rights but they don't own the rights for the *game code* IP and to release the original Duke Nukem games they need a permission from Apogee, and they are not on good terms with them after 2 lawsuits between the two. [Not everything I wrote here is 100% proven information]
Zoom-Platform creator and manager did the impossible, he FORCED them to abide the law and fulfill the contract, original games Duke Nukem 1-2-3D and Manhattan Project are available for digital download under the Gearbox as publisher. The offline installers are DRM-free and easy to use the same way as GOG. Duke Nukem 3D packed wirh DOSBox-X for some reason but most nostalgia gamers play it under eDuke32 or BuildGDX most of the times.

Since 3D Realms and Gearbox are now part of Embracer Group family there is a hope that we might see original games re-released on GOG one day, along with Duke Nukem 4 XS.
interesting. Well, I wouldn't be opposed to buying them again if they ever get released here, but for the time being it's good to have even a single option in Zoom Platform.
