mechmouse: Mincing Darth Vader from Rogue One.

Breja: Huh? Is that in some special edition I didn't see?
The guy in the Vader suit had no presence. Seriously disappointed with him. I looked up the actor, he should have been okay. Big burly stuntman, but he looked like a cosplayer... and not one of the really good ones.

Doing the force grip looked like he was picking an invisible grape rather than choking the life from someone.

mechmouse: How the hell did that nose get inside the helmet?
Pfft, it takes a lot more to impress me.

And with that out of the way:

I need more gargled Gershwin in my life!
I am always amused by how manybrave, macho men seem upset by any movie with a strong female lead.

I haven't seen it yet but a friend of mine told me all about Vader's dreadfully feeble demeanour. It's always mind-boggling when creators fail to successfully carry out what should have been the easiest task.

Well, I enjoyed 7 for the most part. Then again, I'm there to be entertained and not to soak myself into the lore / canon. The new bad guy is meh and I'll mention again that they need a different schtick, to replace the giant-ball-o-planet-destroying-power-using-some-beam-thingy. I mean, c'mon, again?

"You know, this is our third attempt at making a big ball of death, and its not worked. Now I've heard of some guys in a galaxy far far away that have quite a bit of success with Big Cubes of Death."

No, its just a sub par movie standing on the shoulders of its forbearer.

There are plenty of awful films with male leads. I think statistically there is a higher percentage of bad male lead films.

I think the majority of my most favourite Sci-Fi action films have strong Female leads. The Alien films, terminator films, resident evil and so on.

Lucy, strong female lead. Awful Film
Hanna, strong female lead. Great film

The Force is irrelevant. You will be assimilated.

Or just look at Force Awakens and Rouge One. Both have female leads, the former is piss poor and the latter is the first good Star Wars movie since the original trilogy.

Still, it is true that there are a lot of morons who did hate Force Awakens long before they saw it, just for the female lead. It's pathetic and annoying, but there are.

Tarm: NOOOOOOO!
As I've said before Just No to that cycle bullshit. It will make all the actions of every character there are completely meaningless because everything is just part of a non stoppable cycle that will go on and on and on.....
avatar
Breja: There is no talk of a "cycle", just that in times of great upheaval the force manifests a "chosen one". What happens to that chosen one is a very different matter, and can apparently go many ways. And the people around him/her are not part of any cycle of reincarnation whatsoever. There's nothing about predestination here.

Also- I don't know if this is relevant, but in Star Wars Rebels season 3, when Obi-Wan finally kills Maul on Tatooine, dying Maul asks Kenobi (about Luke) "is it the chosen one?" and Kenobi answers "yes", and I don't think there was ever before any talk of Luke being that.
Hm. True.
So maybe a wave mechanic instead of a cycle one? The theory about everything done being meaningless in a cycle have a somewhat similar effect in a wave one depending on how strongly the wave can counter current events. Everything is really going down the drain you get a very strong chosen one and just a little loopsided a weak one?

I'm just brainstorming a bit. :P

Oh and if the underlying lore about everything Star Wars is a correcting Force with a chosen one that person so needs to have a little babbling mouth on her/his tongue!
