Cian Maher, an employee working on the Witcher 4, recently publicly called your customers "fascists" and a number of other juvenile insults.

Show your customers that you disagree with him by firing Cian Maher or we will not buy the Witcher 4.

PanzerFranzz: Cian Maher.
Who is that? Are we supposed to know him?

It wouldn't hurt to be informed.

Might want to repost in the correct forum where it's more likely to draw attention:

i had no idea who was that Cian Maher guy, so i googled around and found that he is

CD Projekt Red’s Franchise and Lore Designer
found this link about his crusade against "gamers"
https://fandompulse.substack.com/p/cd-projekt-reds-franchise-and-lore

then checking a bit more :
https://old.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/1hdgx5z/cian_maher_a_defender_of_atrocious_lore_changes/
with the article in link being
https://ftw.usatoday.com/2021/12/the-witcher-season-2-books

all of that made me facepalm so much ...
not asking for that guy to be fired because i honestly do not care anymore about those ridiculous "defenders" of the netflix shit show, but still surprised guys like that are getting hired into development for the next Witcher game if they hate "gamers" that much

If getting someone fired and/or set on administrative leave was this trivial, I would give several people a mean glare, and [redacted].

But also, are you sure his diatribe isn't against Capital G Gamers vs the casual lowercase g gamer?

There is a difference to be observed between the Gamer and the gamer. The latter simply wants Mario to do his silly yahoo jumps and has no opinion on the state of affairs beyond the game itself. The former is the type who will recoil at the sight of a woman whose breasts aren't proportionally as large as her head and can't imagine something like a pore existing. They also tend to be the type to (pretend) know an incessant amount about MilTech hardware and will complain when the ShootFast385 doesn't mow down people in 3.5 seconds. They also tend to complain about games being political in the same breadth as heaping praise on Hideo Kojima's games for not being deep.

Sanc: *snip*
Thanks for the info.

So that guy is nobody I either need or want to know.

CDPR has nothing to do with GOG, but if they keep hiring the kind of people they have been, unemployment might be in many of their futures anyway.

Really - Who cares about that?

In the past I had a colleague that was a complete dork and a extremely harsh and unlikable brute, that has conflicts with everybody and himself. But his work was perfect and he cared about it. People just ignored him and let him do his thing.

As far as I know he is still working there, delivering products that are very good with a big touch of care.

So even a greatly unlikable person is capable of being professional enough to deliver good stuff. That was true in the past, and that is still true now.

This is especially true in the Open Source community, and I imagine it to be applicable in the demoscene as well. Richard Stallman is a grand example of an unsociable prince who has made great contributions but has opinions that baffle people.

I also understand Lennart Poettering to be a contentious figure, but he also is responsible for making the Linux audio stack far less of a complicated nightmare.

Linus Torvalds can be harsh at times, but he cares very deeply about the projects he works on. And I'd rather have him than the navel gazing philosophers and faux erudites that infest projects like GNOME.

Given that he was working as a "gaming journalist" until relatively recently, has no background whatsoever in computer science (or even game design) and has no demonstrated body of work whatsoever other than a string of obnoxious tweets and polemic blog entries posing as journalism, I very much doubt what you are suggesting is the case here.

And even if it were the case, you have to reach a much higher level of professional success than he has before you have the right to tell your own customers (the people who pay the money to pay your salary) to essentially go f%#& themselves.

This guy has created NOTHING except insults and complaints. He is walking into one of the most successfully gaming franchises of all time, having done NOTHING to create that success, and the first thing he does is insult his own existing customers, the very fans he should be trying to win over by actually bringing something positive, innovative or fun to the table.

The level of arrogance is unreal, the hubris is incredible... This aggression will not stand...

I did and it was deleted within minutes (on a Sunday). They are already working overtime to suppress any information about this guy.

Maybe he just has good connections?
Or maybe he just gives good blow jobs? Capitalism is hard competition and if women can do it...

Really? So if someone is fucking rich, he has the "right" to insult other people? What a thought...
