trentonlf: I have not played that one before either, but I do own it ;)
I have it on steam, have only played one hour at the most, before my desktop died a couple of years ago. I confess the only thing that has kept me from going back is the horror part of the game. I don't mind gore especially in fps, but the horror part not so much.

BTW What do you guys think of Borderlands?

Where was the horror in that game?
Seemed only to be a paradise gone horribly wrong thanks to unchecked capitalism and no morals except free market can't be wrong. (the part about splicers and creating lil' sisters).

Borderlands is a good game, a fun FPS. Borderlands 2 is one of my all time favorite shooters, put over 200 hours into it and that is nothing compared to some other people.

oh it's such a good game. good shooting, good story, creepy environment. and the whole little sister things is just fun.

There is one problem with it though: it shifts from light to dark a lot, and that triggered migraines for me. I couldn't finish. However, even with that huge problem, I still really liked the game and I really want to try to play it again :)

Oh man I love borderlands. It's one of my favorite franchises (i ignore prequel b/c cash grab) lots and lots of hours in 1 and 2. 2 is by far the best though. it's just waaaaay more polished. but that's understandable since Borderlands was a freak success, they really didn't think it was gonna take off like it did. However, to get the most out of 2, you should totally play 1. or at least a good chunk of it. Borderlands 2 brings up a lot of stuff that goes on character-wise in 1.

All those games are must-play so it's really hard to pick just a couple. I'd say go with random.org :P

I hope your system can handle some of those, though. That's definitely not a gaming laptop.

We are talking about the same Bioshock yes? Has probably 5 different set pieces, 6 badguys, a story twist which can been seen coming from the next solar system, and the whole idea ripped off Jules verne? I just don't get why the game is so popular, zero variety or interest. Play Stalker or FEAR, or Shadow Warrior 2013!
Portal 2 is a quick game, or at least the main story is, and it's a total blast from beginning to end. Perhaps it's best to cross that one off as soon as possible because, well, it is a little bit of a crime not having finished it ;)
HoMM 3 is an essential part of any laptop, first and foremost.

Concerning what's on your list, I'd recommend Thief, assuming it's the classic 1990's version instead of the 2014 reboot. (I'm not even familiar with the reboot as I don't own/haven't played it)

Don't play it. Or play it and never think that it's from the same franchise. That one ain't no thief

I'm currently waiting for the winter sale on Steam to get it.

Can The Witcher be compared to Fable: The Lost Chapters?

Can The Witcher be compared to Fable: The Lost Chapters?
It's been several years since I've played either, but from what I remember the atmosphere in the two games are completely different. Witcher (the 1st one) has far more of a 'realistic' dark ages feel to it. As for the combat, from what I remember, Witcher has a lot more depth, with an entire alchemy component thrown in for preparing oils to coat your sword with. The oils give your weapon bonuses against certain types of creatures. In fact I would suggest playing the game on hard, if for no other reason that even on normal difficulty it's never necessary to prepare any oils to defeat monsters. Fable by comparison has far more standard approach when it comes to combat. You can go the magic route or you can go the physical combat route, with the latter split into quick + light armour and slow + heavy armour. Again, it's been years since I played so I might be off on the details.
Both games are kinda semi-open world, and if memory serves you can visit most places again in Fable even late into the game. Witcher has a kind of chapter approach, with each chapter consisting of a bunch of large areas you can traverse freely, but these get closed to you when you move onto the next chapter/section. I remember being extremely upset when I learned I couldn't go back to a certain windmill in the beginning to meet with a fair maiden. She said I had to bring a bottle of wine, and I figured I could progress the story to enter the city where I would surely be able to find some wine. Sadly that constituted a new chapter/section and I never saw the windmill again :(
Of course Witcher is also more, uhm, mature :)
