Breja: How about this- Michael Mann's most unpopular movie-
The Keep. From the description I expected a B grade horror, and not a very good one. It turned out to be, in my opinion, something absolutely superb. The cast is great, and they deliver great performances. Jurgen Prochnow and Gabriel Byrne just kill it. The soundtrack by Tangerine Dream is the stuff of legends, one of the best I've ever heard. And the visuals are something eerie, moody and haunting. Combined, they give the movie a fantastic, dreamlike atmosphere, turn it into a symbolic nightmare of the war. I know most people hate it, including the author of the original novel, but in my book it's a masterpiece. I loved every single second of it. God, Michael Mann was phenomenal in the 80s and 90s.
That movie was ruined for me because good or bad the book was AWESOME and I read the book first which made any chance of the movie working impossible.
