ZubatyZub: Graphics shouldn't define a game
And they don't. If it's an old game that I have fond memories of.
But as I said: in
new games, I look for something better than the old games had to offer.
ZubatyZub: but to each his own.
That's exactly the way I see it:
I wouldn't mind GOG releasing the game for everyone who wants to buy it here - I simply gave my reasons for why I would not buy it
(here or elsewhere).
ZubatyZub: You can't just save scum your way to victory
This has nothing to do with "save scumming my way to victory".
It has all to do with a game(its devs)
respecting my time.
See, I don't like it already, if I have to find an "auto save spot" to be able to securely "log out" without losing my progress, in games that don't feature manual saves.
But I absolutely hate it, if I have to start a level completely anew, simply because a game won't allow me to manually save my progress made up to this point AND doesn't even offer auto save.
And that goes double for stealth games which probably features actions like lock picking, deactivating cameras/other machinery, time crucial taking out of enemies, etc.
Because there's a good probability that I had to overcome several of the aforementioned situations already (
while still being far from ending the level), and then something offline requires my attention (
or I simply have to go to bed, because it's 1 a.m. already and my alarm clock goes off at 5 a.m., etc), and I don't want to re-do all that stuff at a later point, only to get to the same point in the game again, that I have reached already.
Time is a precious commodity. And I respect a dev's time by paying for their product (
aka: the amount of time they invested in creating their product).
The very least I can expect for that, is for them to return that favour.
