To raise awareness for a totally awesome game that is criminally unknown (*cough* possibly related to the most unimaginative videogame game name in history), I've decided to hold a little giveaway.

Aaaaand ... surprisingly I'm giving away exactly one copy of Fight the Dragon on Steam. It's not much in terms of monetary value, seeing that it's still on sale for 3$ until tomorrow, but the game itself is a real discovery, for me one of the best games I'd never heard about before.

It's a humble little action RPG with very basic and slow level and skill progression and random loot, and all of that is solid enough, superficially it might seem a bit like the bastard child of Zelda and Diablo or something, but what's really special about the game is that it's entirely focused on 'hand'-crafted, user-created maps, and it comes with an easy-to-use in-game level editor that allows you to create your own little adventures and stories. Usually a single map only takes 5-30 minutes to play through, so it's a cool game to play in short bursts, too, if you don't have that much gaming time. And there are hundreds of quality maps available for it already. So if you're into level editors or games with a lot user created contents like Neverwinter Nights or Unlimited Adventures, you might enjoy discovering the creations of imaginative people in this one just as much as I do.

And incidentally, starting tomorrow, there is an advent calendar event going on, with one new winter-themed map to play each day until the 24th, created by some of the most popular map authors in the FtD community. So if you win this game (or buy it), you get a free advent calendar on top of it! ;)

If you're still reading, those are the rules for participating in the giveaway:

1. Sadly, you need to have a Steam account, because that's currently the only way to play it.
2. The prize is a Steam gift, no code. I will send it to your Steam account.
3. No rep or join date restrictions, but the decision who gets the game will be entirely subjective. I want people to try this game, not trade it or use it for farming cards. So if you want to increase your chances of winning, put a little effort in your post. Tell me why you think you might enjoy the game. Or tell me about the biggest challenge or fear you've proudly overcome. Or tell me a joke, whatever. Anything to convince me why I should choose you, whether it's true or not, but I'll have to like it.
4. Don't talk about rep or scammers, don't complain about the rules, or you're out. In general, don't be an ass, make me like you instead. ;)
5. I reserve the right to cancel the giveaway if I can't find a worthy contestant among the participants. Hopefully I won't have to, I really want you to try this game! If there are several worthy contestants and I can't decide, I reserve the right to let random.org pick the winner.

Good luck!

You're awesome! :)
The lego looking graphics turns me off of this game.

I'll just stick to Dragon's Dogma for my Dragon Slaying habits thank you:

I just fought a Rat Overlord in Might and Magic III and that damn thing nearly killed me. Don't think I'm strong enough to fight a dragon.

+1 for the giveaway though.
Not in.

I tried this game back when I still used Steam, I think in its very first stages of Early Access. At the time (well over a year ago) it felt kind of limited to me, but it definitely had potential. I have no idea what the game is like now, but it would be cool to see it released here.

I encourage those interested to vote for Fight the Dragon on the Wishlist.

The ironic thing is that fighting the dragon is IMO the least interesting aspect of the game. I mostly just ignore him. :D

(It's just a dragon arena that's separated from the actual gameplay, more like a bonus feature or end game goal; you can always try to fight the dragon in order to test your might and win special items, but you probably won't ever defeat him unless you spend quite some time on it. Not something I'm interested in, too grindy.)

Depends on what you felt was limiting. The devs are very cool and have constantly updated the game since its official release, but of course, the game's scope will always be smaller and more casual than full blown ARPGs with complex skill trees and such.

If you manage to create something worthwhile at some point in the future, let me know and I'll play it. :)
