Dunno about where you're at, but in the US: they don't check vaccination records in most businesses or to travel(except via airplane), so people(or so I hear) have been "identifying as vaccinated" even when they're not.

That's good to hear :)

For me, the first shot was a bit worse (had some pain on the side of the chest), but the second shot's side effect lasted longer.

In any case, I feel *much* safer having been vaccinated, though I'm still more comfortable wearing a mask in public. (In fact, at community band rehearsal, after a while I started putting on my mask whenever I wasn't playing (can't wear a mask while playing a wind instrument).)

There's tons of data showing how effective the vaccine is, you just don't want to acknowledge it. Though judging by your second response you're also a conspiracy theorist who won't believe any official or mainstream source, so why I'm bothering engaging is beyond me.

The second one had me feeling like I was being drained through a straw after running up a mountain for the day afterward.

Apparently it's not as bad if you take Tylenol but I had somehow come to the conclusion that that would make it less effective.

I have both doses of Moderna.
1st Dose was "eh, sore arm."
2nd Dose was a "time to take it easy for a day", as I had a low fever and overall sluggishness presenting.

As far as I know, businesses are free to handle things as they see fit. Some will take you at your word while others will ask for proof of vaccination. While I don't like the "papers, please" approach, there may be some businesses which are unavoidable that require them, and I won't attempt to impose my will or vilify individuals or businesses for what they choose to do regarding vaccinations.

And yeah, I travel international a lot so flying and border crossing is what I am primarily concerned with.

Where did you see those numbers? At least in Spain, which is the country for which I know the data, fatality rate for Covid cases in people over 60 is close to 6,6%.

Only in the US Covid already killed more than 600,000 people. So even assuming the whole population already had Covid, that's close to 0.2% fatality rate, and is higher in other countries. That's an order of magnitude higher than what you posted.

Indeed, but less so for this reason actually. For someone with severe social anxiety, the fact that, while no longer mandatory outdoors except in some typically crowded places, masks are at least for the time being still socially acceptable is quite a relief...

Mainstream sources have flip flopped on a number of things....even after more was known about co-vid....and so called "conspiracy theories" aren't always false and sometimes hold a shred of truth(take the wuhan leak "theory" for example).

Tbh, I think a healthy(not too much, though) dose of skepticism is a good thing more so than readily consuming whatever one is told(by near ANY source).

Over here, HIPPA puts a stop to such requests in most businesses(short of maybe airlines and govt businesses like the DMV and etc). If they ask, one can possibly take legal action, so thankfully most don't ask.

I consider the people who rush in to get the vaccination without doing much of any research to be a bit unwise, and find it iffy to trust a quickly made vaccine in general.

That said, (as I said before) I don't mind(and mostly support, short of a few exceptions) adults doing what they want to do medical wise...and also support vaccines in general if they're well tested beforehand.

I believe those numbers are from the CDC. As for the discrepancy: the percentages that user listed aren't the percentage of hospitalized who succumb, but rather the percentage of the overall population(hospitalized or no) that succumb.

You were aware they had similar basic health safety practices back then(hand washing, mask wearing, isolation/distancing), right?

Yeah, tech has improved re: vaccines and medical procedures in general, but the basic preventative measures we've been using now are more or less the same as they were near a hundred years ago.....and the rates of people succumbing within the same period(after the initial infections that kicked it all off) were still markedly higher.

Yeah, I like this as well......I sometimes use the mask at home/etc to help with my own various mental issues, and like that using such has become less stigmatized.
