While I hate that a AAA publisher is using Kickstarter, I do have to say i've been waiting for a new Fear Effect for a long time.

Interesting change from Resident Evil style gameplay to turn based strategy, could be for the better as the first two were kinda wonky to control at times.

it is part of Sqeenix "Collective", so it is not Sqeenix own game. It is a different and new approach. I quite like it, though, and it opens up interesting uses of IP's, like here where Fear Effect becomes a tactical turn based game.

To expand a little on what amok said, Square Enix opened up some of its IP's for other companies who participate in the Collective. The Collective itself is a kind of pre-Kickstarter platform, a kind of Greenlight for Kickstarter, where projects can get feedback and be voted on.

Yeah, but it's still a AAA publisher passing on the funding risk to the consumer. AAA's should be funding their own IPs instead of being terrified of taking even a remote risk like they are these days.

Anyways, at least we're finally getting a new Fear Effect. Now if they'd steal my idea to remaster and port Fear Effects 1, 2 & 3 to current gen consoles and PC.

While I have no previous experience with the series, aside from a few old magazine articles, this looks nice. And we can always have more Cyberpunk things in this reality. :)

I'm not even sure if Sqeenix is going to be the publisher. As far as I know, all they are going to do is take 10% for the use of the license.
