I had a drink the bartender called 'Charlie sheen'. I think it was vodka, red bull, tequila, and something else... I shit you not, my wife did not recognise me. sorry to hear they aren't exactly 'happy' reminders. I'm not one for prying into anyone's backstory.

To clarify, though; I'm not addicted in any way... in case anybody thought that. This is kind of a by-product to what I like to call anxiety.

Well even though these days I would be considered a designated driver VS a designated drinker, back when I did I loved my Captain Morgan's Silver Spiced Rum. I also liked Aftershock, probably the easiest to drink straight if you like cinnamon. I was never much on beers, but when I did I drank bud. I had crown royal one time, but cannot comment on it. I was already drunk when I started on it so it all tasted the same.

I think it's interesting though how some people completely lose their memory after being drunk, yet I've not forgotten anything from being drunk. Sadly I forget more things now than I did during those days. Go figure. Maybe I need to start up again. lol

Related stories? Hmm I think that would be a tough one to find something appropriate with alcohol being related. lol
No bad stories, only good ones, but it's just something I don't do anymore because I'm more concerned with my health than drinking. I have had a couple of social drinks though once in awhile since then though. Usually when I do it's with my father. Go to the bar, have a couple drinks and play a few games of pool and talk then leave.

My first time drinking I was 20. Broke up with a girlfriend and was bummed out. Dad took me to the bar with him and a friend's mom was there and got me drunk. Not going to go into details but hey, I wasn't bummed out anymore at the end of the night. Good times.

Say no more. But seeing as you mentioned a friend's mom, I can't help but think that's a large part of the good night XD

I don't drink heavily (once or twice a week when hanging with friends) and when i do, it's mostly beer; stouts, weiss, pretty much everything save the pale ales. And of course, tsipouro. For something stronger, i prefer whiskey; i used to drink Cardhu 18yrs but nowadays Lagavulin 16yrs is my favourite. Only during winter, only with good music.

My favorite is good single-malt scotch (Aberlour, The Balvenie, Macallan, Oban, Glenmorangie, etc), although recently I've also started to develop a taste for bourbon and rye. This can make for rather amusing moments at company parties, since outwardly I seem very straight-laced; thus when co-workers who don't know me too well see me immediately start knocking back straight scotch there's usually an amusing "Really? You?" type moment.

I also very much enjoy Belgian style ales, along with most imperial stouts I've come across.
Had some of that at a department outing earlier this year. Quite tasty.

Liquor - rum and coke
Beer - dark lager. Preferably something served in a very large glass by a pretty German girl with huge knockers.
Zima or light party drinks? **** off.

Funny drinking story - I was at a party once where a drunk guy fell off a 2 story balcony at the house we partying at. He broke a couple of minor bones, nothing important. But seeing drunks bail hard is just hilarious to me... even when it comes to myself.

Then there was that time I saw that butch lesbian truck driver bail on the ice at a club. I couldn't stop laughing. One of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.

<--- loves a good sippin' tequila. My all-around favorite is Don Julio 1942, and several others are also quite nice. Been pleasantly surprised by Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo varieties; picked up a bottle of his añejo a couple weeks back for my brother after he did me some favors when the wife and I were down in Texas on biz. Cracked it open at his place and yummm... Found it a lot cheaper up here so I picked up a couple for us. Tried George Clooney's Casamigos in San Diego a few months back. So-so. For the money, I'll go elsewhere.

Got to work with a few guys from Mexico, at a trade show in 2014. They clued me in to the joys of good cheap tequilas. Corralejo is pretty easy to find around these parts, it's cheap, and it's actually decent. A bit of a bite to it. I like it for when I want something a bit rough around the edges.

Picked up some mezcal a while back... it was okay. I'm sure there are better brands out there but mezcal isn't easy to find around here so it's not easy to sample a variety to find a favorite.

Since I do travel a fair amount, I like to hit up the local liquor stores to see if they have any brands / varieties I haven't yet tried. Probably a dozen different bottles on the shelf at the moment, half of them found far from home.

Drinking stories... yeah, gonna keep those to myself. "You had to be there" applies to most any that I could tell.

Favourite: I live in Bavaria so obviously beer, Augustiner Helles, Tegernseer Spezial are my favourites, nothing in the whole world can come close to those two :D
I like Talisker, Bowmore, Caol Illa, Jim Beam - Devils Cut, Jack Daniels and Maker's Mark when it comes to Whisk(e)y, when it comes to Rum: Brugal and Flor de Cana are quite good, even regardless of their age, even the cheapest one easily kick the shit out of Bacardi and all the other dreck out there.

Fave Story: I'm a big of Guns n' Roses and Nightrain is one of my absolute favourite songs, so obviously i had to try the Nightrain "wine" that inspired the song, it's not sold in europe (i doubt it would be legal ot be sold here :D ) so on one of my earlier vacations in the fucked up country the USA are i bought a bottle, i think it was 1,90 dollars back at the time for 0,7 liters and while it officially isn't any stronger than some fine italian wine it, to quote tuco from breaking bad, kicks like a mule with it's balls wrapped in duct tape.
It gave me the most horrific hangover imaginable, while also tasting horrible. Since then i can't wrap my mind around the fact that something horrible like that can "inspire" an awesome song like nightrain.

I definitely tend more towards the Highland and Speyside scotches myself, although I do also enjoy the Islay scotches on occasion. If you ever find yourself passing through the San Francisco area I'd be happy to treat you to a drink or five (we've got some bars with some pretty epic scotch collections).

After years of personal alcohol embargo...

I went and got myself some sake, a.k.a. rice-wine. Stuff is wonderful! It is very light as a drink. Has a fruity taste and an exotic aroma/fragrance. Can be sipped either hot, or cold. Is the perfect companion to that homemade, handmade sushi roll i roll every now and then, the occasional noodle dish with sweet and sour or spicy sauce or the wok fry mix...
