Orion66: I'm curious what version of the movie you saw. In one version, Director's Cut maybe, it's evident that Ford's character is also a replicant.
avatar
monkeydelarge: I've only seen one version. The version that was available in the 90s.
When you watched it, were you facing the screen?
Firefly was wonderful and it was a travesty that it was cut short so early. The cast were all brilliant, the setting felt like a truly living and breathing universe and there were so many plot arcs set up that just ended up going nowhere. Tragic.

I also do like my Warhammer 40K. :)

No. I was in a 69 position with your mom at the time.
Firefly and Farscape. That reminds me I still have Farscape to watch, I think I only watch half of first season.

You were sucking the naughty parts of a giant squid monsters? I know there is such a thing as kissing up to ones God, but that is a bit far.

Not a fan of Joss Whedon but Firefly was just way too short. So much potential, wasted. It should of went on for at least 5 seasons.

Nice way to steer the topic back towards galaxy quest.

"Ow... That is... not right !"

It was still worth it. Let's just say, his mom can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

new Tron was really good, shame I was alone in that. lol

fishbaits: Babylon 5 without a doubt.
It used to be on Wed` or Thursday & repeated Sunday. I`d still watch both.
Even used to model/animate B5 stuff in Lightwave for giggles.

As for Star Trek/Wars, didn`t like any of them.

2001/2010 Space oddysey, would like to see them make good films of the two remaining books (also the Rama series if possible \o/).

Blade Runner is amazing, dreading the sequel...

monkeydelarge: I really don't get why so many people think Blade Runner is amazing. A special kind of cop hunts down a bunch of clones. He kills them all. Sure, Harrison Ford is awesome in it. The other actors are awesome in it too. And the setting is cool. But what else is there? Not much. I'm not saying the movie is not amazing because a movie, like all art can be amazing to some and the opposite of amazing to others. I just don't get your taste.
To be honest, the first time I watched it I was expecting just some cop/bad guys shoot `em up, so the fact that the story went further than that, was probably something to do with it being good for me.
I liked the book, but didn`t think the way the book was, that it`d make a good film, what with the keeping artificial pets on roofs of tower blocks & hoping to buy a real pet at some point. Especially all that emotion box thing, forgotten its name, the one where you walk up a hill & Deckard was hooked on using them, sooo glad Blade Runner turned out the way it did \o/

P.S.

misteryo: I really like the Rama books.
avatar
BenKii: Yeah I second the recommendation of Arthur C. Clarke's masterpiece sci-fi novel series. Sierra studios also made a neat adventure game adaptation based off Rendezvous with Rama and Rama II plainly called Rama.
Holy crap! This exists!!? o0

Time to trawl the internots & find out how good/bad it was.

Really liked all the Rama books. Had heard rumours of a film 10ish years ago but nothing ever came of it.

Absolutely. The film did nothing to make up for it.
One of my favorite scifi used to be an old anime called Starblazers. I always loved the concept of the humans resurrecting and old battleship as a spaceship just to fight an entire alien race. Unfortunately, the anime tends to be on the obscure side these days.
