I saw Pulp Fiction for the first time.
Decent flick, not a big Quentin fan. 8/10
A screaming man (Chad, 2010).

Present-day Chad. Adam, sixty something, a former swimming champion, is pool attendant at a smart N'Djamena hotel. When the hotel gets taken over by new Chinese owners, he is forced to give up his job to his son Abdel. Terribly resentful, he feels socially humiliated. The country is in the throes of a civil war. Rebel forces are attacking the government. The authorities demand that the population contribute to the "war effort", giving money or volunteers old enough to fight off the assailants. The District Chief constantly harasses Adam for his contribution. But Adam is penniless; he only has his son....

Intense movie.
The Human Resources Manager (Israel, 2010).

The Human Resources Manager of Jerusalem's largest bakery is in trouble. He is separated from his wife, distanced from his daughter, and stuck in a job he hates. When one of his employees, a foreign worker, is killed in a suicide bombing, the bakery is accused of indifference, and the HR Manager is sent to the victim's hometown in Romania to make amends. Far from home, on a mission to honor a woman he didn't even know but has somehow grown to admire, the HR Manager fights to regain his company's reputation - and possibly his own humanity.

I highly recommend it.
I would recommend watching 28 Days Later and then 28 Weeks later. What happens in them is that this virus called "rage" basically turns people into cannibalistic psychos (Zombies?). Not enough explanation but i recommend you watch it to find out more about it.
Network (1976)... is a brilliantly done satire on how the modern corporate media functions. It is spot on with its criticisms, the satire is done perfectly, and it is hilarious and somber throughout.

It's on Nexflix... go see it now if you have the chance.

Here's the imdb:

hmm... saw 28 days yesterday, but I can't remember that these are cannibalistic psychos.

The people infected with rage do just kill the people (by biting or doing other stuff), but I absolutely can't remember to have seen anyone eating his victim.

As this military guy says: It is only about people killing people.

But anyway, great movies and a must to watch if not watched yet :)
Rien à signaler (France, 2010) :
A Belge-Francophobe customs officer is forced to team up with a Frenchman during the elimination of the Franco-Belge borders in the 90s.

My first Dany Boon movie, and I really enjoyed it. Poelvoorde and Boon make a good pair.

Little Sparrows (Australia, 2010) :
In the middle of an Australian summer, we meet three sisters. Nina is widowed with two young children. Anna is an aspiring actress unhappily married to a filmmaker. Christine is a med student who has yet to fully come to terms with her sexuality. When their mother Susan's breast cancer returns, the family is faced with the reality of their last Christmas together. As each daughter confronts personal change and growth, Susan guides them by revealing a secret of her own.

I didn't really enjoy the movie, and I'm not sure why. There is nothing wrong with the scenario, but it didn't catch my interest and I remained bored through the whole movie.

Did you like Shoot 'Em Up too? Same guy as in Children of Men, not as serious of a show though:)

HereForTheBeer: Rented Zombieland last night and enjoyed every single bit of it. Great fun.
There's a spoof of Zombieland named Stripperland out now (yes a spoof of a satire, go figure). Yes, it's about zombie strippers and pretty bad, if you really liked Zombieland they made some 4th wall breaking jokes about it, though.

It's decent for an indie flick.

The swordplay is bloody gruesome and james pulefory is bearable as a knight templar - but there are several historical inaccuracies present throughout. And yet it does make for a worthwhile watch.

Just saw Ichi the Killer y'day - Damn good for a yakuza movie - it's somewhat reminiscent of american psycho but bears miike's unique japanese insignia and as such is unmatched in anything that the west can offer in terms of gore.

I watched Jackie Brown today for the second time. I love Tarantino's movies - the least the ones I've seen (own a copy of all of these) - Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Inglorious Basterds, and Sin City (well, he only directed one scene, but yeah). Jackie Brown might be my favorite. There's just something in his movies that I can't quite describe, but I can't find it in any other movies, it's like a certain feeling when you watch a Tarantino movie. There are several funny moments in Jackie Brown, the longest one being the part with Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Tucker. I can't get over the fact that Michael Keaton is wearing a leather jacket and sandals with white socks - it's so hilarious I have to rewind that part when they are shown multiple times.

Attack the block (UK, 2011) :

A teen gang in South London defend their block from an alien invasion.

Entertaining movie. Not as cheesy as I thought it would be. The aliens look awesome, I love them.
A couple of indie films worth watching that you might not have heard of are Ink and The Signal. Ink is a sci-fi/fantasy flick that is a very good example of a group of people doing a whole lot with a small budget. Basically, it's about this war for our souls that happens while we're asleep. The Signal is a movie about a city full of people going crazy and turning very violent. What's interesting about it is that it's divided into three parts with each part being directed by a different person. So different parts of the same overall story end up having a very different pace and feel.

And just to throw it in there, I'm currently on season 3 of my second viewing of Battlestar Galactica 2004. So awesome!
It's not a movie, but do yourself a favor and watch "Breaking Bad", a TV series on AMC, hands down one of the best shows I've watched. Currently streaming on Netflix, btw.
