Coraline is a very good movie:)
Last movie I saw was "Last of the Living". Not a very good movie but it offered some entertainment.
And the movie before that was "The quiet american". Now that was a very nice movie with some good acting.
I see someone mentioned Le fils (the son). I can recommend the movies of our Belgian Dardenne brothers, they make excellent movies.
VERY incomplete list....
Favorite: They Live, Assault on Precinct 13, Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, They Live (XD), Ran, Once upon a time in America, Once upon a time in the West, The Trilogy of Dollar (three of them), "Una pura formalità" (dunno the international title, also from Sergio Leone), Conan the Barbarian, Excalibur, Halloween, Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Evil Dead 3 (don't remember the original title, it's the one with skeletons and zombies and stuff :P), 2001 A Space Odyssey, Clockwork Orange, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, Alien, Deep Red, The Night of Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (aka Zombi), Day of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, etc....
The last one: the new Star Trek, it was better than I thought....
Recommendation: everything, you can never know what you really like if you don't see it all
Last movie I saw was Star Trek. After years of making fun of it and cracking jokes, I take back everything I said. It was badass.

I've just discovered them, and am very much looking forward to working through their back catalog.

Three names spring up from that list, John Carpenter, George A. Romero and Sam Raimi.
I'd recommend The Hudsucker Proxy, Darkman, Escape from New York and The Fog. (if you haven't watched them already.)
and of course: My Name Is Bruce
I just watched Howl's Moving Castle, it is a beautiful and incredible film. I also saw Sunshine 2 days ago and that movie was pretty awesome.

Yeah, I've watched any damn movie Carpenter made since the beginning of his directing career, even the first and odd Death Star :-P And Escape from New York is one of my favorite movies along with They Live, indeed.... oh, you forgot mentioning directors Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Katsuhiro Otomo, Stanley Kubrick and James Cameron, anyway :-P
My favorite movie of all time is probaly " For A Few Dollars More" directed by Sergio Leone with Clint Eastwood and Lee van Cleef. The acting, the scenery and the director's work are just amazing and so is the soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.
I also love the Big Lebowski and Burn After Reading, the Coen brothers surely know how to make a good movie.
I just saw "Night at the Museum 2" and it was actually pretty good. Usually as far as children's sequels go, they're TERRIBLE, but this was actually really cool.
I just watched Escape from New York. Great, great movie. I was surprised I actually enjoyed it.
Pulp Fiction and the Shawshank Redemption are a couple of my more favoured movies.
The last movie that I saw was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
If I were to recommend one or two I would suggest Catch Me If You Can or The Last Samurai. Both have tremendous stories and content.

Wait, you actually liked The Last Samurai? What a snore. Catch Me If You Can wasn't a bad film, though.
Just saw The Deer Hunter (1978) again last night.
I'm not even going to recommend it because i bet everybody on the planet has already seen it. Those who haven't deserve to be haunted every night by Gay plumber Bob.
