Bye, Klumpen. Going to miss you.
One more voice opposing regional pricing gone. Sad.
On the upside folks, I'm still here.

Garrison72: On the upside folks, I'm still here.
Well yeah but that's because we chained you to the wall.

Klumpen0815: ...
Take care.
Game on, Klumpen.
tinyE said he's not leaving, so we're all good. So when are we getting Freelancer Gog?

Also can we please do something about Simpsons: Hit & Run.
avatar
tinyE: Everyone that doesn't hate me is leaving!

WTF!?
I'm still here ;)

amrit9037: First McHack
avatar
HijacK: Wait. Hold up, hol' up, hollup, holla, holla, holla!

You tryin' to tell me McHack left the forums?

This is it. It's time to build an insurrection and restore things to the way they were.
He did? I've seen him around here fairly recently...I think amrit's just saying he turned into a lurker/cut down on activity here.

Klumpen0815: Reasons:
- most of the great ones have already left (some recently without many people noticing)
-> I'm available via eMail for those
- the infamous Erdogan thread
- the troll friendly rep system/exploits which won't ever get fixed as it seems
- the athmosphere is rather lacking manners and good will too often (moderation wouldn't help much though)
- scammers everywhere
- I really miss the old PM system and am still annoyed by old conversations there being lost forever as it seems
- no more classic Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale without the remakes
- regional pricing everywhere, now also for Don't Stave (at least the addon and the complete set)
-> the massive Russian discount being the most absurd thing about all this and still no honest reasoning for it
- Linux gamers still treated as third class (Linux ports of many games still only available elsewhere, no new DosBox and WINE packages anymore as it seems)
- head and hands full with my two jobs and my increasing musical activities
- don't have enough free time for boards and gaming anymore, so one has to go - easy pick

As always I'm still open to help people out with anything I can but I won't look into threads anymore and unfortunately I don't know if there's a way to get an eMail notification for getting a new chat message so I may only notice when updating my backups.

I know that some people here see me as their enemy but I don't do this with anyone.
We all have our personal problems and a lack of tolerance and patience with something which always gives us the chance to improve.

Peace
Vaya con Dio, boyo. Hopefully, the real world treats ya right. :)

Klumpen0815: Peace
Some of us will still hope to see you here from time to time at least. When I look back - there were many nice times, discussions and art sharing.

Until better times, my friend!

Tarm: Yeah I agree about how we felt.

What I remember were us being really angry and insulting too but we did it in a much more eloquent and almost respectful way. Some posts were epic in taking someone down without resorting to base insults and shouting. Basically adults having a go at each other.
Something like "I respect you having another view but you're so fucking wrong and I'll give you hell by taking down your arguments one by one." In a angry and respectful way of course. :)

hedwards: That might be it. I know that there were some rather immature people here, even from the start, but it does seem like there's a lot more poop flinging now than there was back then.

I think it's a byproduct of having a much more mainstream audience. People here today don't appreciate a good high quality troll like folks did earlier. I think it's because there's a lot more youngsters and mainstream lamers and a smaller proportion of people who have seen what high quality trolling is like.

It's not just this site, I've seen other sites where it gets to the point where trolls don't even have to troll to get a reaction, just implying that the dominant group think isn't correct is sufficient to get branded a troll.

I used to love hanging out in the KoL fora flaming the shit out of people. They had some epic flamewars back in the day. It's a shame that by the time I left it was largely reduced to a bunch of limp wristed bitches.
Oh yes I've seen this before too and it's sad seeing GOG going down the same road in several ways.
I'm with you with the crowd thing. The more mainstream a community on the net is the more moderation and/or steering it needs. Mainstream folks simply are too much of egoistical bastards for it to work otherwise. That shows in the trolling. :P
Sorry to hear you're leaving. But your last-mentioned reason - that you must prioritize some more important, real life stuff - is plenty solid. Good luck with the music!
The "leaving entirely" thing is a kind of protest, then? Guess that's understandable. It's too bad, though; I always looked forward to your posts because they often had a unique perspective on things.

Take it easy, and may the rivers run red with the blood of the enemies you apparently don't have but may someday obtain.
@Klumpen0815: Where do you think you're going, don't you know it's dark outside? :P

Presumably he's leaving the forum and not going to be checking chat anymore. I can't imagine not buying games here at all, unless he's not going to be buying games that are sold here any more from anybody else.
