adaliabooks: He posted in the mafia thread about not being around much as well, so I presume he's at least reduced presence (the post in the mafia thread suggested he would be back)
Oh, ok, just trying to keep tabs of who's still around.

We know, you got the ban-free card, the only thing in the world that could remove you from this forum, i'm still trying to appeal to the supreme court so that the card is removed.

I don't have a ban free card trust me. XD What I do have is a total lack of a life and way too much a humility; a deadly combination. :P

Klumpen0815: ... Peace
Farewell then. I had fun reading your contributions.

Anyway what I will remember most of GOG (should I ever go) are the great classic games and the spectacular contributions of some forum members like JMich (making the statistics of the releases), gragar looking for rights of games, mrkgnao programming an awesome search engine showing regional prices and all that shit, Magnitus with the insomnia script, Barefoot monkey with the much better looking custom browser script, woolymethodman, the gogrepo dev and the uncountable contributions of many other users like IAmSinister, Barry_Woodward, timppu, catpower 1980, Wurzelkraft, Xyem, SirPrimalForm, Mastruchus, Brasas, mobuto, ... (from the top of my head, there are many more).

They are all living in so many different locations in the world and without GOG I would never have (kind of) met them. I thank them for all their contributions here.

Brasas: I know. Sad from all angles, I didn't read this back then but followed a link recently. Check it out.
Very interesting article. I hadn't read it before.
Anyway the more this behaviour spreads the less time I spend on the internet. It's getting polarized. I can see a future where the internet is inhabited solely by sadists and masochists. :P

Klumpen0815: (..)
Farewell. You'll be missed.
I understand your concerns, and I hope GOG fixes those community's issues. This community is one of the reasons why I joined GOG. Because it's one of the best gaming communities on Internet. Good gamers who created a good gaming community. It's sad when active members decide to leave it or they become inactive. :(
Good luck.

Sorry to see you go, Klumpen0815. Please come and visit us here at the asylum.

Goodbye, Klumpen0815! We will all miss you! But I hope you will return someday. So many people are leaving GOG and it's really sad. -_-

I've seen this on other sites. Basically this is a "mature" forum. Most of the people that came and made the place great have been replaced by basically 2 generations of forum goers. Each gen has been successively less amusing and less well-behaved.

There's things that GOG could have done years ago to delay this point considerably. But, they refused to moderate the place even as they started to focus more and more on games of more widespread appeal. The moment they announced the new games was pretty much the moment that the fora were doomed.

That's not to say that all the newbs have been bad, but there has been a shrinking portion of quality posts in proportion to the asinine and ridiculous posts that have been going on.

For GOG's part, the site has encouraged the antics and they definitely don't respect the customer base like they did years back.
Farewell Klumpen0815, there is no doubt better uses of your time.

Klumpen0815: Reasons:
- the troll friendly rep system/exploits which won't ever get fixed as it seems
- scammers everywhere
- I really miss the old PM system and am still annoyed by old conversations there being lost forever as it seems
- Linux gamers still treated as third class (Linux ports of many games still only available elsewhere, no new DosBox and WINE packages anymore as it seems)
I can't agree more than you... Especially for the scammer scene on GOG since it affects everyone on GOG, whether they are Win, Linux or Mac users. Anyway, farewell dude, have a nice time with your other activities! :)
Life longer and prosper! \V/
