I think it was the first one to have all low rated posts.

Someone at GOG could likely figure it out easily, i'm guessing.....just look for any accounts with no paid games which just rate posts and do little to nothing else. Then check if those accounts are low rating entire swaths of posts in certain threads or those written by certain users, and mod as needed.....rinse and repeat.

-Imo it is somewhat, and it's ironic: some of the low raters (afaik) want the forum to be run/posted to a certain way(think of the ratings as prods to errant cattle, with them as the farmers and us as the cattle) to try and make it "better"......thing is, their ratings are likely driving some to post less or not at all, thus likely making the forums worse.

They would do well to remember the old saying about the road to hell and what it is constructed of, I think.

It's actually 5 rep down from "baseline"(a post that's fresh and normal rated) to go low, and 5 up from that same baseline to go high. If a post has just gone low it would then take 5 upvotes to go normal and 5 more to then go high(more upvotes would be needed for posts truly "buried" with low ratings).

Some people thought (imo wrongly) that you were a spammer or bot when you signed up, due to how you posted. I am guessing that some are unable to admit being wrong, and thus low rate you to not have to admit being wrong about you(also the low raters probably low rate you as well).

Then if everyone in the thread upvoted all the posts it would negate the low rating assuming you get more than 1 upvote per day.

1 rep per day and I think you get some for buying games.

Many years ago a forum user started a thread to TEST rep (of which i was a subject). The results were as follows.

It only takes two to three downvotes to "low rate" a post.
There is NO limit to how much rep you can lose per day.
Rep gain IS limited by the five maximum.
Equal upvotes to downvotes does NOT remove the "low rated".
User rep when rating has NO effect.

GOG staff then (and more recently) have NO idea how rep works in regards to the site. This is why it cannot be fixed. It is tied to spam guards, question answers (which support do rely on) and probably a few other things.
Also, they had / probably still have no interest in fixing things - BECAUSE nobody understands whats under the hood!

Please take your tinfoil hats off and mail them to the nearest user that has frequently been caught abusing alts for rep or their nearest 4chan counterpart.

The "problem"** with that plan is that the troll raters likely have many alt accounts they rate with.....making it hard to negate them.
(**I say "problem" above because rep is meaningless and it's not really that much of an actual problem....it's more a sad joke with the raters being the punchline)

My mistake: I meant it takes 5 down votes(not 5 rep) from users to make a post drop to low, which causes the poster of said post to lose 1 rep.

I should also mention that I dislike imbeciles who doesn't understand how vaccines work. Vaccines are effectively viruses a.k.a. infectious diseases. So getting yourself vaxxed is like having someone snease or cough on you. And yes, you can still get sick, infected and transmit that to others even if you do get yourself vaxxed. Only difference is that you get a dose of poison alongside with that injection which you would avoid by just being infected by traditional means.

I should also mention that wearing a mask or a condom doesn't necessarily protect you nor your loved ones from infection.

Infections happen. Disease happen. There are effective ways how to protect yourself but those options are not very popular. So instead of whining about other people those whiners should prop up their own immune system. Because strong immune system is what really protects you but it's not something big pharma could market or sell to you.
