misteryo: I thought this would be about getting angry at fantasy the genre - like, "OMG I hate Game of Thrones so much I want to just smash that fat bearded guy's face make him stop make him stop and make my friends fucking stop talking about the motherfucking thing!"

That kind of thing I could get behind.

Sachys: Just because you fucked an orc and got preggers ya slag!
Just 'cause you're upset about the story of your birth doesn't mean I am!

sunshinecorp: Right. So, whenever I watch something or read something or play something that has a villain that's supposed to be very scary or evil or psychotic, I immediately want to beat the shit out of him/her/it. No horror or shock, just pure unadulterated malevolence aimed directly at the villain. Who else feels like that?
Obviously you must be lying, because you've yet to kill me.

Sachys: As to you, thats not a fantasy anger issue, but a genuine one. Either find a passive way to deal with it yourself - maybe not playing / watching etc those things, or seek professional help. Not trying to be unkind, but what you have is a potentially serious issue that with time and no form of management can manifest into something else.
Doctor/Professor/fuckhead/suckys has spoken and she is the law (or the usual full of shit).

Matewis: As for examples from books, I can think of only one that I truly despised. I couldn't wait for this character to die:
William Hamleigh from Pillars of the Earth
He was sadistic, cruel and caused tremendous devastation to the lives of several likable characters. It's an awesome book and I've been meaning to check out the miniseries about it.

sunshinecorp: That's how I felt about every Game of Thrones villain (TV, haven't read the books nor do I want to) that's why I eventually stopped watching. I spent most of the time watching that show HATING the fuckers.
In case of GOT I think its mission accomplished. [url=http://Lets take King Joffrey. He was meant to be hated. And the actor did a really great job about that. Watched a youtube "reactions to Joffreys dead" few months ago. Never saw so many people at once cheering that "a child died"; something that is usually very controversial in TV/Movies and is meant to evoke a polar opposite reaction to what happened with Joffrey]Minor spoiler; read by clicking reply.[/url]
anger... hmm... yeah I guess that happens sometimes...
Often it's more like fury, after I've failed ten times... The last boss in Trails in the sky comes to mind...
"Yeeeeiiiaaaa! Diee! I want to finish this game already and move on! Ye ol' nutter! I've got a seriously heavy backlog to get back to!" *sobs*

Anger... The last boss in Anachronox... but mostly because I loved the game, and that battle just made me want to call who ever designed it and shout something primal...

For me it is usually the protagonist that got me angry.

When it is obvious that the protagonist will encounter bad things if he do this action / follow that lie, he still go and do it for the sake of drama.

I'll go ahead and disagree. I've had this forever and it never manifested into real life. I'm talking specifically made-up villains here. Then again, I've never met any real-life villains face-to-face...

CARRiON.FLOWERS: And why is that?
You tell me.
I think it's very conflicted, to the point of multiple fantasy personality disorder. Part of me wants to be the vengeful champion of good and at the same time part of me is saying "I could do a better job of being a villain than that dolt!" By the way, that often happens to me in games. I'm undecided about being good or evil. I start one way, end up playing the other way, then switch again. In old-school D&D that was called chaotic neutral.

Sometimes, the antagonist is especially terrible. Like, rape-murder-kitten-kicker-terrible, and this in contrast to the very sensible ideas and policies the character espouses, or to solid and just claims to rights or titles. I almost always root for them, and discount the rapemurder thing as shitty propaganda. And I want to punch the writer, in-universe (them being the chief propaganda mouthpiece for the designated Good Guys). I honestly forgot when I last saw a likable protagonist in single-author fiction.
I'm totally fantasizing about using a flamethrower to kill this annoying fly buzzing around desk at the moment
Never a villain, but I hated a lot of heroes. It's when the story desperately tries to convince me this douchebag is awesome, and I should totally like him, that really pisses me off. Oh, when you keep wanting someone to put the asshole in his place, and you can see as the entire world of the story seems to bend itself backwards just to prove him right, and everyone proclaims their love for him. It's infuriating.
