Huinehtar: I nearly had a heartattack, reading the title.
But then I read it concerned Fallout 3 goodies.
So not really concerned anymore.

snowkatt: why not ?

thats still 3 perfectly good records that were smashed there because support was an ass
does it matter because its "just"fallout 3 ?
3 perfectly good records have been smashed and support is an ass thats what matters
Well, since I was unaware of Interplay producing original Fallout vinyle dics back in the 90s, I'd assume they would be originals or at least extremely rare products dedicated to a very closed number of fans or makers relative. So a smashing report of them would have terrified me, as a piece of history shattered.

Here we have a waste, surely, but not at the same level I early imagined.

sunshinecorp: LOL. That was really... the worst refund policy ever?
avatar
JMich: Not really. The usual case was "Please return the items and we'll send a replacement or refund". So instead of bothering him with mailing the physical items, they asked for proof of destruction. Similar case to how it's been done for decades.
Only one vinyl out of the three was faulty though. And he couldn't rebuy just one with the 25 bucks they refunded him. So he had to destroy the rest (mind you, collector's limited items) to get a full refund. It *is* the worst policy ever.

Yeah I agree, but, on seeing its for 3, I think its a bigger waste than if it was for 4, looking at the tracklisting, shame theres none of the stuff from in game like Butcher Pete etc :(

Part of the purchase was faulty. Part of the purchase was refunded. Customer asked for a bigger refund. Support obliged.

As I said, they could have asked for the items to be returned before issuing the refund. That way it was quicker for the customer to get his money back.

Opinions, opinions. I stand by mine, you stand by yours. Customer would rather not have to destroy a collector's item as you can see by the picture of him crying.
(not to mention that when you buy something that's a set, and the set has a faulty part, you should be refunded for the set, not the part... αν αγόραζες μια φανέλα και ένα βρακί set και το βρακί ήταν χεσμένο...)

Does the installation go faster if you turn the speed up to 78 RPM?
Wow...that sure is quality support. :P

Yes. Assuming you returned the full set to the store.

My opinion is that instead of the customer having to go through the full hassle of returning the items, the support would accept a photo of the items being faulty. In your example, you wouldn't keep the rest of the set while getting a full refund, you'd either keep the rest and get a partial or return the full set and get a full refund. Πίτα ολόκληρη, σκυλός χορτάτος κατάσταση.

I cannot tell by the article if he was given a choice about it or not.

Only if you don't keep the working parts of the set. Never heard of Ebay?

That's not the point. Was he given a choice to return the set and get a full refund at any point? Or was he asked for proof of damaged goods instead?

Returning the set = spending money (shipping) + time (waiting for shipment to arrive, getting checked). How's that better than providing proof, that you don't want to / can't scam the seller?
Obviously the best way would have been to replace the broken item. Unsurprisingly that's not (or at least very rarely) an option for limited editions.

PS: guess what the seller would have done with a 3/4 returned set of a limited edition. My guess would be, destroy it....
That's a crying shame.
