I think they made a mistake going with Dogmeat. He shows up early, and is a 4 legged self propelled glitch machine. There's some pretty funny (or sad) videos showing some of the glitches. They'll probably be patched, but it's not a good sign when your new flagship game has such immersion breaking bugs so early in the game.

Yes read a few reviews. Seems mostly positive (aside from technical glitches) - no mention of music or audio in any of the reviews. Skyrim with guns?

The hype train is disembarking, and the journos have tumbled out and away. Typical AAA release review comparison. Gaming sites and blogs are lining up to perform various sex acts on the game, while the fanbase rages and suffers from buyer's remorse.
Typical complaints are...
1. Immortal companions that are dumbed down and bland.
2. No hardcore mode
3. Glitches galore
4. Treats the Fallout lore like a cheap pulp novel with tons of continuity and timeline errors.
5. Boring characters, boring plot, boring dialogue.
6. Plays like a COD shooter with some very basic base building and RPG elements.
7. FOV is horrible. Can't be edited in menu. Config tweaks are already necessary.
8. You get power armor within 5 minutes of starting the main quest.
9. Textures are nowhere near next-gen and vary from so-so to WTF. Typical gloss giving textures a wet, painted look.
10. It's Skyrim with guns. 5 years of development has essentially made a 'good looking' version of Fallout 3 for a new generation.
So glad I didn't buy Fallout 4. Watching the endless complaints and butthurt is reward enough. Will wait patiently for New Vegas release on GOG instead. XD

Have fun with it. I might get it in a few years along with the necessary hardware when they are both cheaper.

No, no, no, no. Must resist the urge to look at anything Fallout 4 related. I need to go in without seeing anything beforehand, and I'm gonna wait for a sale, haha. Ehhhh.... I guess I can always replay Fallout 2 while I wait.

Only played about 3-4 hours so far, not nearly enough to judge the game, but some of those complains are simply not true. 1. Immortal companions that are dumbed down and bland.
2. No hardcore mode
3. Glitches galore

1. Dogmeat is the new Lydia - absolutely agree. The AI so far certainly isn't better than it was in Skyrim. But bland? Can't really judge but from all I've heared / seen so far, companions have more personality than in any Bethesda game before.
2. I play on normal and already died a few times. There's a hard, very hard and survival difficulty above that. If that isn't enough, then I don't know. Play Robinson's Requiem?
4. Yawn.
6. When did COD make the move from linear to truly open world? And can someone point me to the cover mechanic? Haven't found that one yet....
I barely scratched the surface on crafting / base building, but feel already overwhelmed on what to gather.
RPG elements, again can't really tell but 4 factions with 4 different endings, tells me a different story.
8. Within 1 hour, yes. 5 minutes simply not possible, at least not unless you know exactly where and how to get it and give a crap about everything else in the game. But if that is the case, then they shouldn't make any claims about roleplaying. :p
Even if so, where's the problem? Someone forcing you to use it? Can't restrain yourself? In that case again, scrap the roleplaying part as they don't know / care jack about it...
9. No surprise. There's a reason why the Witcher 3 or DA:I aren't really open world, but had to stick to regions, while you can walk in Bethesda games from one side of the world to the other without a loading screen.
10. Who ever disliked Skyrim for whatever reason, will likely dislike Fallout 4 too - yes. Again, no surprise.
But after their continued disappointment with Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim, some guys still fail to learn and do what they probably told several times: staying away from Bethesda games.

It sure is entertaining reading all that. Although when imagine user reviewers on Metacritic I see a dead eyed mob with pitchforks and torches, with the collective IQ of a peanut. I'll judge it for myself when the game is released in a complete version for a reasonable price.
From what i've seen on YouTube the biggest let down is that the main character is voiced and that dialog wheel. I'm currently playing through DA: Inquistion and I can just barely tolerate it due to the voice acting of the main character. It's a horrible crime in any RPG to have the main character voiced when the player is creating their own character, for me it almost completely ruins any dialog experience. The only time it works is if you're playing a pre-determined character.

Which is why i'm still waiting for a mod for just that, play in the Fallout world as a Dog. Get XP for doing Doggy stuff...like humping strangers legs (hump 100 legs to get the BAD DOG!!! achievement), drinking out of toilets etc.
Anyway traded my free CoD Black Ops 3 copy for Fallout 4 today and only had to part with AU$22 on top of the trade, so almost ready, but probably won't start until next week- the first patch will probably be out by then as well.

How is this different than any other AAA release though? We all know the hype train overblows how good any AAA game is. Equally though, we should all be aware by now that there are legions of people just champing at the bit to tear any AAA game apart when it's released, for no other reason than just to 'prove' how wrong the hype was. And honestly, the references to 'plays like' or 'clone of' COD are so damned predictable now that I disregard any complaints/reviews that even contain any reference to COD anymore. The hype train is disembarking, and the journos have tumbled out and away. Typical AAA release review comparison. Gaming sites and blogs are lining up to perform various sex acts on the game, while the fanbase rages and suffers from buyer's remorse.

The truth, as usual, probably lies somewhere in the middle.
