Oh, right Bradley, like you were going to go out and actually buy the fucking disc! :P

Pull this one, it plays "Jingle Bells"!

I think that was the point, he misses the days when he didn't have to use services like GOG (or Steam). So do I.

I do also.
The era of physical copies is coming to its end. Not so long ago I bought C&C collection only ti find out, that the DVD case did't even have a disc in it, only Origin key.

Oh I nearly did that when it was released. Gits!

Yep, the disc will have 4.7GB of the game on it, the rest you have to download via Steam.

But whilst you wait for the game to download, you can have a beer:

As OldFatGuy said earlier we could enjoy games in our caves with PC and no services like steam.

Please me it's a joke.
If it's true then I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Grargar: Well, at least it's not like Metal Gear Solid V, which only contains the Steam installer on disc.
Supreme Commander 2 is also like this, and it was my first steam game back in October 2011. My Internet back then was also really slow (Max 1 mb/s if I remember rightly.)I got better Internet 2 years ago however.I now get about 4 mb/s and almost 6 (Max I've got 5.9, which is why I say almost.) with a wireless extender with an ethernet cable attached. It wasn't for almost 3 years and Total War Rome 2 until I got another hard copy of a steam game because I thought they were all like that. I hadn't even heard of Steam before then. What Bethesda have done is preferable to a mega day one patch (Unless the rest of the game is bigger than the average day one patch, or there is also a sizeable day one patch.) or no installing through disc at all.

darthspudius: So what? New Vegas was no different and even The Witcher 3 had this issue.
This is all that people need to know. And if THIS is the case, and all the data ISN'T on the Witcher 3 disc, THAT is called DRM, which GOG claims they are completely 100% blah blah blah against.
Calling bullshit on the "Gog doesn't do DRM and isn't as evil as steam".
I don't care if it's digital only, just give me a GOG release!

It was the case with the first pressing of Witcher 3 discs. You had to DL a small file to complete the install. Later pressings are apparently DRM-free. But the original ones released on Day 0 had this lovely little surprise to 'combat piracy'.

*edit* But it doesn't invalidate GOG's stance on DRM, since they don't provide the disc version, and the GOG version of the game is (and was at release) DRM-free.

Considering anyone could download the small patch, even without proof of ownership, it wasn't to "combat piracy" but to control release schedule. Some console owners did get to play the game before the release date, but no PC players did so.
