War. War never changes.

And it all began with these famous words.

25 years ago, in October of 1997 first post-nuclear world of the legendary Fallout franchise emerged from its shelter, full of memorable characters, irradiated monstrosities and impactful conversations that made their undeniable impact on the history of RPG games.

To celebrate this anniversary we’d like to take you on a quick stroll into the past and remind ourselves of some of the most memorable and iconic moments that took place throughout , Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. And if you haven't yet played this cult-classics (shame!) or don’t yet own a copy on GOG - make sure to rectify this mistake immediately as we’ve prepared Special Sale for these masterpieces.

Let’s start our memory journey, shall we? (Spoilers ahead!)

Fallout (-75% off) - Meeting the Master

Few of the video games villains are as well written as this leader of the super mutant army - The Master. As part of the main questline in the original 1997’s Fallout, our character, the Vault Dweller, must venture into the abandoned Vault-Tec prototype vault. After battling mutants all along the way we eventually come face to face with grotesque monstrosity that is the game's primary antagonist. From his bizarre, flesh-twisted-with-computer appearance and multiple voices to revelation of his grim goal of creating a new race from humanity using Forced Evolutionary Virus this encounter remains the most memorable in the whole gaming history. Can’t wait to meet this fella again!

Fallout 3 (-67% off) - First step into the Capital Wasteland and Blowing up Megaton

Come on… this has to be on that list. After exploring the amazing, post-apocalyptic worlds of the first two entries in the series, the time has come to finally see its nuclear beauty in 3D. And the third game narrative prepares as perfectly for this moment. After we start quite literally by being born, we then get acquainted with the comforts of Vault 101. From first steps as a baby, to school tests, to our tenth birthday party in the Vault’s cafeteria and shooting roaches, to taking the G.O.A.T exam and getting bullied by Tunnel Snakes. And it all comes down to this one, iconic and beautiful moment - coming out of the Vault, leaving underground life behind and embarking on an adventure into the vast, unknown world while still struggling to adjust to the sunlight. It’s perfect, really.

Fallout: New Vegas (-67% off) - The Great Journey

And last but definitely not the least - finale of Come Fly With Me quest in Fallout: New Vegas. Absolutely bizarre, unique and beautiful moment between Courier and a group of bold and inspired ghouls on a mission. At the REPCONN test site our character meets ghoul Jason Bright who is the leader of a religious faction known as Bright Brotherhood. Their main goal? To complete The Great Journey - launching themselves in a space vessel and travelling to a new world in the hope of finding a better future beyond Earth. Jason's speech, the view, the music - everything there is just iconic.

Let's get the balance right!
Fallout 4 ?

Pelviss: Fallout 4 ?
When ?.
Fallout 4? Where's my Fallout 3? You know, an actual successor to Fallout 2, not just a complete reboot that is nothing more than a caricature of the original. I suppose New Vegas might be slightly more qualified, but it's still really more of a reboot than a successor. They shouldn't have have called it Fallout 3, as if it were a sequel. It should have been "Fallout X" or "Fallout Action".

Should a reboot even be celebrating the same anniversary as the original? Did you really need to mention Fallout 3 twice in your announcement?

Van Buren or death!

I enjoyed FO3 and NV but it would've been soooo gooood if they'd made a proper FO3 :(
I don't mind that there is no Fallout 4.

But I am a bit annoyed that they used the Fallout 4 picture for their article as if there would be Fallout 4 available.
That's false advertisement.

Correction: SORRY - my bad. The Picture IS from Fallout 3.
I just wrongfully only associate the dog with Fallout 4. Sorry again <3

Swedrami: Never got to play it and, at least from what I've read and heard about it over the years it's supposed to be "bad" and a far cry from what a true installment in the pre-Bethesda Fallout series is supposed to be like (similar to what Dark Alliance is to the other titles of the Baldur's Gate franchise) but I'd be (morbidly) curious about Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.
Certainly more curious about that than Fallout 4 which Bethesda can keep, as far as I'm concerned.

guppy44: I still have my copy for the original Xbox. I was in a huge Fallout stage and beat Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, BoS, and 3 GOTY all in a row. New Vegas Ultimate Edition and 4 GOTY are still sitting in my backlog as they’re just such huge games.

That said, I really enjoyed BoS. It is certainly a massive difference in play style from the other originals, but I quite enjoyed a change of pace to break up my series run through. If you’re open to giving it a shot I’d recommend it.
Well, this was primarily meant as a nudge-nudge, wink-wink towards whoever currently owns the rights to FO:BoS (Interplay, still?) and therefore would be able to port this to PC, à la the aforementioned Dark Alliance games.
Like I said, I'd definitely be interested in playing this but there's no way I'm going to scour the interwebs for an emulated version, let alone a physical copy and the hardware necessary to run it.

Silly me hadn’t even thought of that. I’d love to see a PC release here a la Dark Alliance 1 & 2 just as you mentioned. Hope that happens.

You are right!! I was totally wrong. The dog already exists in Fallout 3. For some reason I only associated the dog companion with Fallout 4.
Thanks for setting me straight.

To set you even straighter: The dog's been a staple of the Fallout series since Fallout 1. It's a Mad Max 2 reference.

No worries, I myself found out quite recently that Dogmeat has been featured in all the Fallouts beginning with the very first one. :)

It's called Mad Max 2 where you are? I first watched sometime in early 80's and it's only been known to me as The Road Warrior.

(a.k.a The Best Action Movie Ever Made.)

edit. seems it was named The Road Warrior for just the U.S.

Mad Max 2 is the original title. The US distributor renamed it The Road Warrior because they figured no one would go see Mad Max 2 if they hadn't ever heard of Mad Max 1. On top of that, they cut out a bit of awesome violence (some guy getting a boomerang pulled out of his skull) in order to get an R rating. The current Blu-ray releases reverts the title change and includes the formerly censored shots. If you're a fan, be sure to check it out!

A dog companion in a post-apocalyptic setting is hardly a new thing. See the movie A Boy and his Dog (1975) which was one of the inspirations for Fallout.
