Argentinians have to pay $73,- for a game that US Americans only have to pay $30,- for?

How does that fit together with this:

Amazing that you think that having access to google and a keyboard allows you to be able to correct someone living in another country about their own living status and economy.

Even more amazing that you obviously think ALL the official tables with comparing living costs, that I have access to via the internet, are wrong.
I looked up several, before I wrote my comment. And they all say the same. Living in Argentina is 50% to 73% cheaper than in the US.
If you , as a Japanese, know more - don't hesitate...educate me.

Argentinians have to thank millions of virtual immigrants using VPN's to buy games dirt cheap in their region.

This statement should also consider the salaries/income in Argentina vs US, and the fluctuation of currency value (peso vs dollar).

And, in this particular case, the taxes that Argentinians have to pay for purchases made in dollars.

Those charts don't necessarily have to be wrong - however do they paint the whole picture? Or how is it relevant information to anyone, let alone the guy from Argentina who said that the game is insanely expensive there all things considered. I would take the local dude's word for it over your 10-minute online study any day though.

I know. They are one of the cheapest markets on the planet.
Just 7 days ago, Factorio cost a whopping $2,- (~366 Peso) in Argentina.
That's only 6.67% of the US price.
I'd love someone to give me a link that proves that the game costs $73,- (~13.366 Peso) now.
However: that would mean a price hike of 3.650%!

As of now, I have a hard time believing that.
If that was true, the devs could as well simply declare that: "we don't want Argentinians to buy our game(s) anymore!"

And why would you put your absolute blind faith in cost of living statistics? Even the best statistics are the least wrong and biased on whatever metric they use.

The fact you are intimating someone is not telling the whole truth about their own country's situation from a country far away using Google to find statistics, instead of talking to them and asking them why, is why you are arrogant and stupid.

I know how inflation works. So far, however, only the developers of Factorio have publicly announced a price increase of a years-old game due to inflation.

So, before this thread got sidetracked...

The alternative of the dev not putting up the price was to stop development.

Continual development (updates, new features) costs money.

If the game is feature-complete and not getting any more updates, then I could maybe see people getting a little frustrated at a price increase.

But it's pretty straightforward (notwithstanding regional prices and misunderstanding of economics).

You either buy the game or don't.

The seller makes money based on how many people buy the game.

If it is an unreasonable price hike then people will look for alternatives and the decision will turn out to be a bad one.

But it is still a lot cheaper than the majority of comparable games have been at release historically. And there is no law that says game developers absolutely have to discount their games over time. Especially independent ones.
